Annie's Rush (Finally!)
Okay, well, not quite. I don't rush until early October, but I thought I'd start my thread now since I'm leaving for UCR the day after tomorrow and goodness knows when (and IF) I can get my computer set up there!
UC Riverside has a small Greek community of about 3%, according to the catalog. There are 6 Panhellenic sororities: Alpha Chi Omega Delta Gamma Gamma Phi Beta Kappa Kappa Gamma Pi Beta Phi Sigma Kappa So please wish me luck!... and any advice about anything would be really appreciated! Just to update everyone... Annie emailed me and she hasn't been able to get on GC because the dorm computers aren't working to well yet! But she's trying to get back on here!
And guess what?! I met Annie in person last night! I was working at Block Party, an event for all new students to see our student orgs and such, and she looked for me and found me! I can tell she's a total sweetheart and my sisters and I cannot wait for her to go through recruitment! Annie- hurry up and get your computer fixed before rush starts! IT'S ME!!
HEY GIRLS!! I missed you all SO MUCH! I've been having some issues with my school's internet as well as with GC, but I just got a new SN so it's all okay now. ANYWAY... I LOVE UCR so much!! I am so happy to be here. My roommate and my suitemates and my housemates are ALL awesome. Sorry I sound so crazily enthusastic but I'm just having the time of my life here. I thought I would be miserable but I'm not in the slightest. Anyway, so I GOT TO MEET gphiangel624!!! She is SUCH a wonderful girl, and she's gorgeous to boot, as are the rest of the Greek girls. (My suitemate won three goldfish from the Gamma Phi booth! We named them Carol, Bob, and Speckles. Speckles unfortunately has passed on, though.) At the block party all of the PNC members were wearing the same shirt so I couldn't really tell which sorority was which! But all of the girls I talked to were SO GREAT and so friendly and helpful. I even got to speak with a Rho Chi who was just so perky and awesome! Rush starts this Friday so I'm really excited. I really hope that I find the right place. Cross your fingers for me!... and sorry it took so long to update! |

Hey just so u know rush doesn't start until Oct. 11th . . . which is info night. . . . and just to explain the whole all of us wearing pink shirts its because we are all showing our greek unity and showing that we are all Panhellenic first!!! . . . So ur suite mates . . . u must live in pentland . . . . new or old??? . . . I really can't wait to meet you!!! . . . . just so you know I'm a sigma kappa . . . and really the best advice I can give you is to go through rush meet all of the chapters and figure out which one suites you best!!! . . . . we really do have great chapters here at Riverside . . . you really can't go wrong!!! . . . Also I was at block party . . . its kinda cool to think that I could have been standing right next to you!!! . . . . well take care . . . and I'll soon see you at rush!!!!

Annie, I'm glad you're having so much fun! Who would have known that Riverside could be a "fun" place?! (hey- i can talk because i've lived here my entire life!) I hope things are going well for you and talking to you has made me really excited about recruitment! Just spread the word- get girls to rush! I know there hasn't been all the publicity we (as Panhellenic) were promised, but if you and your friends/suitemates/etc could spread the word, all of us in Panhellenic would REALLY REALLY appreciate it! |

I had a friend from highschool who was an Alpha Chi there and she had a great experience...for some reason she deactivated early, drama or maybe personal reasons, I'm not positive. I have also heard that Gamma Phi has a superb chapter there, one of my old president's sister was a GPB there and was supposedly having a kick ass time. Good luck Annie, just wait until your pledge period that's when the fun really begins...:) :)

Anyways, because the time is getting so close to recruitment, I'm going to refrain from posting very much, so as to allow any PNMs to keep an open mind. Once Friday comes along, I'm going to stop posting altogether until Tuesday the 15th (Bid Day), and not read Annie's rush thread until then, because I don't want to get too excited or disappointed. Either way, Annie, I wish you the best of luck- you're going to have a blast and I'm so excited for you. I only wish I could go through Recruitment again. In recent, semi-related news, my girlfriends and I went shopping for rush clothes in Palm Springs... for SEVEN STRAIGHT HOURS. It was crazy, but it was sooo much fun! I think I may actually have drooled on an ivory cashmere coat in Burberry (oopsy)... I didn't end up buying too much... not even sure if some of the stuff is dressy enough for rush, but I'll figure that all out later! Also, my best friend who goes to San Diego State is now an ALPHA PHI! This is the sorority she's wanted to join since she met them at her summer orientation... so I'm really, really, really happy for her! I hope it all works out for me, too.
