Hey Ernie!
On your screen- top right- you will see oldest topic/newest topic. Above that is choices about your profile, etc. With those choices is a search button. What I would do is a search on FSU- check under Greek Life/Rush- and it can give you tons of posts about FSU. Best of luck with recruitment! We are so glad you found this site- tons of awesome people are here to help you! Sue |
Hey SOEXCITED@FSU--I just wanted to let you know that I have a ton of friends that graduated from FSU and they have such a GREAT greek system that no matter where you go, I am sure you will be happy. I had friends in almost every organization and they all had a ball and made such good friends! Good luck and let me know how it goes!

Hehe. First off you're welcome SoExcited. I looked around on that site, and it gives a lot of helpful info on rush at FSU. Actually Sue_XO I'm already in a sorority at Butler University. Honest mistake. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif But you're right. Everyone here is so helpful, and I know that there are plenty of sisters here who are willing to help out in anyway. Best wishes to all new prospective sisters! ------------------ "Having a sister is like having a best friend you can't get rid of. You know whatever you do, they'll still be there." -Amy Li |

Hey everyone, i quite possibly will be attending FSU in the fall of 2002 (yes, i'm a little high schooler still) so any info pertaining to how rush goes for you new rushees or how the FSU sororities operate would be much appreciated. Thanx Girls! You're great!
wow those were some big words for me...i'm proud..lol ~Tara~ |
TaraHopeful-
I know several girls heading to FSU next year who are already thinking about rushing. It's awesome that you're one of them! Rush really is exciting, even if it is a little nerve-wracking. Best of luck in 2002! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif |
I wish we could get girls at our school to be excited and go through rush. I am at a very big school, yet we tend to have no more than 115 or so girls go through rush http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif

dzsaigirl-
That's terrible- Rush is such a big deal in FL! Where do you go to school? |
I go to the University of Houston. The sororities try to get people to go through rush, but it's a commuter school (although a TON of people live there) and no matter how many banners and flyers and girls wearing their letters there are, it is always just about 120 rushees for 6 sororities. Before people come to UH, most of them don't even realize that there ARE sororities. SO anyone who is going to UH, go through rush!!!!!!!!!! Here is the panhellenic website: www.uh.edu/greek/national/HCPA
It still says spring rush on there, but the app is for fall and the info is also for fall since fall is formal rush. |
dzsaigirl,
The Houston Delta Zeta site is terrific! Y'all have done a wonderful job! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif My suggestion for getting more girls interested in Rush, if you haven't done this already, is to set up individual sorority tables during Orientation for incoming students, as well as tables that are set up during campus tour days. Have several sisters manning the tables, wearing letters of course, to talk about Delta Zeta and Greek Life in general so that the girls will know that there are Greek options for them to explore. If you can plant the seed early in their minds, they'll have a while to think about Rush. Also, one thing that the North Georgia Panhellenic Association started this year was to hold an informal meeting for all female graduating high school seniors who were planning to attend schools in the state with Greek Life on campus. The meeting was called "It's All Greek To Me" and was advertised at the area high schools in the form of flyers, on the radio, and in the newspaper. We invited alumna representatives from each of the NPC sororities to come out and decorate a table with their sorority memorabilia. The women were available to answer questions about their organizations and show the seniors the positive aspects of sorority life. Refreshments were served, and goodie bags were handed out that included Interesting Facts about Greeks, our anti-hazing policies, academic requirements, and other information that the girls and their parents could use to learn about Greek Life. I think it was a great way to get girls interested in Rush, and because we held it just before their high school graduation we were able to reach a lot of girls at a time when they would start thinking about college and what they wanted to do when they started at their new schools. Hope this helps you a little! Good luck with RUSH this year!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif |
Thank you for all of the awesome compliments on our page. It is actually under contruction, so a lot of the pictures and stuff are not even on there. Check back every so often and our web person is sure to have made some other additions http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
At UH the greek system has people at orientation with tables, etc. There are info sessions, a thing called Cougar Craze, people handing out apps and brochures all over campus and in their classes, banners, and everyone in their letters. Greeks hold almost all of the student gov offices and are extremely active on campus. It's just that the general student body at UH is uninvolved and doesn't tend to get involved because 1) they have their old friends from high school and don't want to meet people or 2) They work to pay for school and don't have time/$$$. I hope that this year we can reach more people and they will see how awesome being greek is! Thanks for the support http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif |
I visited the Houston DZ site- you girls have a lot to be proud of. Especially making quota. You need to have panhellenic do a survey asking girls why don't they want to rush? What are they looking for when rushing etc. Best of luck.

Hey, dzsai, great website! My cousin was president of y'all's chapter back in the fifties and I can still remember her and her sisters having Frontier Fiesta practice at my grandmother's house!
