Your Dream Job

Okay, so if you had the available resources to acheive anything, and the job market was super great, what job would you want to have?

Serious jobs or stuff that you want to do but will never pursue?

Here's a list of some of my "when I grow up..." dream jobs:
  • Actress (film, stage, whatever)
  • Film professor, specializing in the Kung Fu genre of films
  • Ambassador to a foreign country (albeit a "safe" one, like Germany or England)
  • Rock Star
  • Musician in a brass quintet, a la the Empire Brass (playing tuba)
  • Curator of a museum so I could host all of my super-talented artist friends' work

suzymoonspider 09-13-2002 06:18 PM

My dream job would be traveling the world as a male model scout:) Think of all the sexy men- ah dreams

Slightly more realistically, but still out there I want to be:
1) Working for the CIA or various Embassies around the world
2) A travel writer
3)So rich and famous my job is that similar to a princess- with luncheons and banquents and charity events

Dream jobs are great!

Realitically I know when I get older and get married I just want to be a mom and a wife.

Pickel 10-29-2002 10:19 PM

And my husband, Tony Soprano, will pay for it all. ;)

AOIIalum 11-04-2002 11:36 AM

1. Professional Mom and volunteer (hey, I do that now!)

2. Social or Educational Psychology research, once I go back and get the PhD in Psychology. Maybe one day.

3. Cheesy romance/teen romance writer (Moxie, I'm borrowing your idea here too, because I'd love to do that myself.)

4. Personal academic adviser at a college or university. I'd really love to do something like this. NOT just a 'check off the boxes and you'll be taking this, this, this, and that' type. Yes, I know I'm living in a dream world, but if there was more time or personnel allowed for academic advising early on there'd be a lot less "I can't graduate without this class and it won't be offered again for three semesters!" garbage.

War

I'd love to be a war photographer. I want to get paid almost nothing and work for Reuters in a conflict zone. Sometimes I think that's so much better than $160K in undergrad spending alone will ever get me.

Hey, you're not living in a dream world. Part of the reason I love my college is because of the great experience I've had with my freshman advisor (who is now my concentration advisor and my thesis supervisor). Most of my friends (unless they are in very large, popular majors) have similar relationships with their advisors. During our freshman and sophomore years, we were required to meet with our advisors EVERYTIME we added, dropped, or changed grading options for a course, so we could be advised on how it would impact our future plans (and not just for graduation--that included study abroad, double-majors, internships, and leaves). Maybe it's something that happens at a small school.

2) Headlining my own Las Vegas Revue or Broadway Show

RedHotChiO 12-13-2002 09:59 PM

When I grow up, I wanna be...

*a "lady who lunches"/philanthropist
*a sales manager for a fashion or gift company
*a stationery store owner

I've always wanted the title of "mogul," because it basically means that you are at the top of your game.

TKErd345 12-19-2002 12:29 AM

mm.. wow... nobody chose a dorky job yet... i guess i can fill in the spot... i'm at one of the major dork schools anyways... :p so yeah...

I wanna be an electrical engineer at JPL or Boeing or the Dept. of Defense or one of the companies of the sort (specialized in microwave/RF) so I can design satellites (and check out all the hotties... j/k about this part)

and well, if that doesn't work out... trophy husband would work pretty well... mm... i suppose i could drive around in a ferarri and just look good all day long... that wouldn't be too bad... but i want the job where i just crouch over pages and pages of stuff, and my sight gets to the point where i need the thick glasses, and when i'm done, i can stand up straight and laugh with a very evil tone :D :D :D ... muhahaha... okay.. yeah.. so i'm gonna shut up now

Fraternally yours, Dragos

P.S. I hope my evil plans work ;)

My dream job is to be the head buyer of Macy's West or some other really big reputable department store in Cali....working my ass off to get there too! Anybody have any good retail connections? Or any tips on how to get there? Thanx!

Optimist Prime 05-12-2003 06:01 PM

My dream job no longer exists. Thanks a lot, nation of Austria.

I want to be the Dr. Dre of film. Start own production company, put the kind of stuff I want to see out there, Produce and Direct my own stuff, appear in a few films, maybe a lead role. But not many lead roles. Don't need a vehicle. Dr. Dre only has two solo albums, both are classic.

Other things

*Executive in Charge of Long-Term Development

*President (a few people told me I would be one day, so why not)

*Rock Star but that would get old after a while. I would have to be lead singer and write songs. I would want to much controll and get dropped by the label, and be mostly remembered for my live performances. Srew that.

*Secratary-General of the United Nations.

Please don't kill anyone and put it on tape.

I'm living my dream! I'm interning with Boeing at Kennedy Space Center in their Space Shuttle Orbiter Thermal Protection System/Materials & Processing division. Next year when I graduate with my degree in Aerospace Engineering, they might be able to offer me a full-time position.

Of course, the ultimate goal is to become an astronaut, but that's gonna take quite some time. :)

Jadey28 06-08-2003 04:14 PM

You know, I used to think that my dream job would be where I sit around and do nothing at all, but still get paid for it. Well, now that I have been doing that for about six months, I realize I was wrong!!

So, "when I grow up" I wanna:

-become a model
-be a nutrionist
-be a personal trainer
-be a professional shopper for a company!

I think that's it. I definately need to be kept busy while I am working. :)

Gina1201 06-08-2003 06:20 PM

My dream job would be something in the entertainment field, i.e. an entertainment lawyer or a publicist.
