It's a small (Greek) world!

I got a call from my daughter. As many know, she is a DG at LSU.
One of my roommates and close friend in college was a DG at U of Houston.

One of the new DG members at LSU is the daughter of a Uof H DG I KNOW!!!

How great is THAT! (What are the odds?)

Anyone else have a story that shows how our lives are entwinded
through the Greek system? I STILL can't believe it...

She posted last year a few times prior to recruitment, but got a psyched out when someone mentioned there were ways people could find out who you are...

As far as a "hottie"... She IS beautiful, inside and out!

MAYBE one day I'll post a link to a GROUP party pic she's in...MAYBE!;)

Give my congratulations to your cousin! My daughter is a Soph. and was initiated last Spring.

She is in heaven! The DGs are known for their laid back, fun loving attitude. The fraternity guys love them because they always have a great time. They are active on every level of campus life and the saying goes-anywhere you go on campus, you will meet a DG. They are highly respected OUTSIDE the Greek system as well, because they simply wonderful girls. A large percentage of their membership is comprised of New Orleans (Mt St Carmel and an other private school I can't recall) Tons of Tx girls favoring Houton area, and then of course Baton Rouge. Our area has 4 members-a Senior 2 Soph and 1 Fesh. They are the only chapter that limits the high heels to one chapter meeting a month because everyone is so involved it's impractical. They make it a point to regularly invite other GLOs (NPC & NPHC) to their house. They likewise attend functions they are invited to in
as full force as possible.

They just had their first exchange-every year they kick it off with Acacia's foam party. They also had one with Sig Ep 2 days later. Their social calander is always bursting at the seams. Big/Lil sis is right around the corner so you can bet she will be fully swept up into DG mania in a metter of days!
Added-Kevlar-ongrats to YOUR friend TOO!

This advertisement has been brought to you by a proud sponsor (by virtue of motherood) of LSU DG!:D

this doesn't have to do with DG but...

I recently found out that my high school theatre director (who was awesome and we all loved) is an AGD from my school!!! I couldn't believe it! I had no idea; I just came across some old composites with her in it. So at the next school play that i went to, I took her aside and gave her our grip. It's so cool that we were so close and now we have this to bring us closer.

On the same note, one of my freshmen when I was a senior in high school just started college, and she IM'ed me the other night asking if my school had AGD, and I asked her why. She said she had just received a bid from them and wanted to know if I knew any from Eastern (she goes to Central)! I'm so excited. She's coming home for a football game (as some of you might know, I'm an instructor for the marching band there), and I'm going to surprise her with red and buff roses!

I just love how Greek life can bond people!

it is a small world....

I too have a funny little "it's a small greek world" story....

I have been with my current company 3 years now. About 2 years ago my boss wast getting ready to go to Europe for a couple of week with her son. She was trying to pack and decide what to bring, as most of her trip was going to be spent in England at her son's soccer games. Everyone at the office was giving her advice--and telling her she needed "one of those nylon, lined jackets with a hood"--i.e.--pullover. She asked around to borrow one--she came to me--I told her the only pullover I had was one with my letters on it. She smiled and said that is okay, I can wear it--I looked at her funny--and she said "didn't I ever tell you that I am an Alpha Gam too"!!!!

So my boss is an Alpha Gam--it's is a small world!!!

this morning, a local radio station in philly- y100, was talking about "sorority life" and their new morning DJ is an AZD from WVU! She even did an AZD cheer and sang an AZD song on the radio.

I also found out the my head of HR is also an AZD!

Normally I'm right when I have a feeling about something. Right before school started I went to my eye doctor back home to see if me eyes are getting better or worse. My docotor is a woman ( I love lady doctors :D :D ) and I had a feeling she might have been a DG in college. Well, I went to her and wore a shirt I got from my girlfriend from the Anchor Splash party we went to for her sorority. As soon as my doctor saw me and saw my shirt she went hysterical......"Oh my god! I'm a DG too! I was a DG at Missouri! Is your girlfriend a DG?" I came to this conclusion based on the way she acted, the way she looks and the way she talked. It wasn't hard. I could tell right off the bat she was greek when i first met her. She's one of the hottest older ladies I've even known personally. We ended up talking about our GLOs more than my actual eyes. I thought it was neat. The funny thing was that after my examination I asked her if she had a daughter.....She smiled and said....."You PIKES havent changed since the time I went to school." I thought it was kinda funny.

I intitiated into Kappa Delta at a small college in North Carolina. I was the only one of my core group of HS friends to go greek and none of them could quite get it. I eventually transfered to UCF and because of time constraints, I didn't affiliate with the chapter here. BUT, last fall I helped them out with rush. Imagine my suprise when I opened the house door to another alumni (SP?) coming to help out. She and I took one look at each other and just started say "NO!" and "Oh my God". We had been friends in middle school and hadn't seen each other for years. It was such a wonderful suprise to run into each other at her old chapter's rush. It was one of my best Greek experiences.

Well, my mother is a yoga teacher so she got me really into the whole yoga thing, so every morning while I am still home I have been getting up to go to either a yoga or pilates class (depending upon the day.) I had always really liked the pilates teacher - she has a very pleasant demeanor and I had this gut feeling that I liked her so much for a reason. This week I wore my pi phi flip flops to class and she came up to me and said, "I noticed your shoes. I'm a pi phi too!" We did our grip and talked about our pi phi experiences - she also went to college in illinois although not the same one i go to - the Greek community in the town I grew up in isn't that strong which made it even more special!!!

Honestly, half the reason i wear my pi phi flip flops around is because I meet so many pi phis that way!

These are such GREAT stories! I told one for my aughter, I'll tell mine.

I recently reactivated into a women's group. We sing and visit nursing homes. After the tour was complete we were at a restuarant and OF COURSE talking about our kids, college sorority...

I mentioned that thePanhell Alum assoc didn't have an AXO on it's board. A woman, whom I've known for YEARS, hollers "HEY SISTER!" Cacked me up! We were both so shocked! Each of us thought we were the ONLY AXOs in town!!!

This semester, I have a Public Administration class with one of my sisters. On the first day of class the Instructor says "I'm going to pick on the Delta Zeta's today" (we had stitched letters on). We kind of start to freak out because a lot of the profs don't like greeks. Then she proceeds to tell the entire class (with a few PNM's in there) that she is a Delta Zeta from our chapter! It was great PR for us, and one of those PNM ended up going DZ!

I just remembered this story. My mother had joined a gym a few years ago. She didn't have any workout clothes so I said that she could borrow a t-shirt from my bedroom. Unbeknownst to her, she had grabbed a purple t-shirt with my letters on the back. She was in the middle of trying to figure out the equipment when girls came up to her and started to talk to her, "Oh my GAWD, you're in D PHI E! WE'RE in D PHI E!" (My mother recounted this story to me using her best valley girl voice which is pretty funny.) My mother had no idea what they were talking about. She thought that it was some kind of gym speak because this was her first time in the gym. Only after she changed clothes and saw the back of the shirt did she realize what they had meant. :p
