Martha Stuart

I

Hate

Martha Stuart.

How do yall feel about her?

dzrose93 09-04-2002 11:03 AM

Personally, I'm eager to see how she decorates her jail cell. Hopefully, I won't have to wait too long. ;)

Dionysus 09-04-2002 11:07 AM

LOL!

DWAlphaGam 09-04-2002 11:08 AM

I think she's amusing. I only watch her cooking show on Food Network. I find it funny because she's OCD when someone else is cooking with her--she is constantly cleaning up after them. Also, her mom seems just as psycho as she is.

Hootie 09-04-2002 11:21 AM

I watched the E! Hollywood Story on her...I can't believe how cold she is. She was more concerned with her career and success than her daughter and family. Perhaps though that is only one side of the story, however I can see it being sorta true.

Personally I feel sad for her. She's worked so hard to get where she was before the scandal.

Hootie

The1calledTKE 09-04-2002 11:29 AM

I think the SNL skits about her are funny.

And have you noticed that she gets pissed when the guests try to do it their way instead of hers? Even if they happen to be the expert? Hmm...control issues much?

ladybug1116 09-04-2002 12:06 PM

Hootie--I saw the same thing. I can't believe she used to be a model  What was truly cold was when her husband was in the hospital with cancer and she didn't go visit him...she said her work was more important. Ugh.

I actually got a funny e-mail forward from one of my co-workers and it was a fake Martha Stewart magazine cover called "Martha Stewart Living...Behind Bars" and it had fake article titles. I would post it here but I can't figure it out. Oh well :)

h2oot 09-04-2002 12:21 PM

I kinda liked her, she had a talent for what she did. But, when I learned more about her life, I lost respect. The "insider trading" scandal is typical of many with "friends in high places." They use this to their advantage over and over like its a "right" only they have. You would think with all their money they wouldn't have to be sooo greedy, but I guess its how they got where they are.

ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really thought I was the only one that HATED her..well, hate is a strong word. How about...

Detest
Dislike
Loathe
Nauseating
Grotesque
Fake

Those are ok. Now, what I hate is how she acts like she is the GURU of home living. Uh, no. Yall see her KMart commercials, where she says, You have to make the bed EVERY DAY with an attitude, for some reason that pissed me off. Who are you to tell me to make my bed, with your high priced sheets?? I mean, if you watch all the stuff she does on her show, I mean, she doesn't have time to do anything else in her life if she's gonna do all that unnecessary decorating. I mean, making a tablecloth and flower arrangements EVERYDAY??? Who has that kind of time???
  But I huess she'll have ALL kinds of time soon! She can make up a nice steel grey themed comforter for her bunk with a nice cement block bookshelf or something LOL. I'm sorry, I just don't like her AT ALL.

LOL! This was good.

Martha Stewart doesn't really rub me either way. Then again I have only seen her show one time, when The Rock was on there making chocloate chip cookies. I do, however, think that Ana Gastyer (sp?) is freaking hilarious on SNL when she portrays MS.

Martha fan of sorts

Whatever you say about Martha Helen Kostyra Stewart, she has elevated homemaking to an art. My mother, in fact, is irked because she didn't think of commercializing homemaking. :p

She's actually part of elevating the country's mass taste level. The same forces that created Martha and B. Smith (who's also great, BTW, and has no legal issues that we know of) have also democratized style to the point where you can get decent clothes at places like Target, Gap, Banana Republic, Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel.

For that, Martha deserves props. I also like the fact that she, like Oprah Winfrey, is a media personality who is not terribly thin. :p

LOL, I didn't think of that. She is kinda chunky!! But not that much. Oprah did more for us big'uns then dear old Martha!

Not to mention my soror, Star Jones of the View, and Camryn Manheim of the Practice.

Sorry for hijacking the thread, folks. :o

Back to Martha, what trips me about this situation is that wascally Sam Waksal (the ImClone chief executive) was supposedly squiring Martha and Lexi, her daughter.

Yeah, them too.

"Squiring," while a very old-fashioned word, does mean dating -- which includes "hitting it."

CTFU. CTFU. CTFU.

poodleNtraining 09-04-2002 01:06 PM

OK ;) But that's nasty!!!! I mean, do yall think she's real proper, I mean, what kind of etiquette *sp* would she have for that?

Do not squire on old sheets. Make sure that they have been freshly laundered, and color coordinated with the mood.

Make sure you CHANGE the sheets after each episode, making sure to tuck in ALL corners.

Make sure that any food used in the squiring was made from one of my recipes. AND that you made it yourself, using MY methods.

LMAO!!!!!!!!! I need to stop...
:D :D :p

OMG, this is hysterical! Kind of disturbing, but definitely funny!

sororitygirl2 09-04-2002 04:42 PM

Martha Stewart pretty much appears to be a, um, not-nice-person BUT she is very intelligent woman with amazing business savvy. She worked hard to get where she is/was before she ended up in trouble.

And her magazine is beautiful... too bad she doesn't really make any of it herself anymore... her staff and outside experts think of ideas and do all those crafts.

Peaches-n-Cream 09-04-2002 06:23 PM

Thank you, now I have an image BURNED into my brain of Martha getting it on with that guy on her over priced K-Mart sheets. That's worse than when South Park had her anally consuming a turkey. Did anyone else see that?

Lord, no, I didn't see that.
And I surely didn't mean to draw images of Martha getting all hot and bothered with Sam Waksal. But there is something weird about a man who, at different times, dates a woman AND her daughter. :p

No he didn't. Did he?
Who does he think he is, Woody Allen?! :p

LMAO. Yes, Waksal, whose ImClone is at the center of Martha's insider-trading scandal, did date Alexis and was very close to Martha.

Wow.... as I was closing this thread, I noticed that I had email. So I checked it and what was it?

Some KMart advertisement!

xo_sue 09-05-2002 02:32 AM

I've met Martha

Not to brag but I have met Martha Stewart and she impressed me. I work as a personal assistant and my boss is good friends with her. She came to the house and my boss introduced us and she took the time to shake my hand and really catch my name and who I was. I really thought someone of that fame would blow me off totally but she did not. That made me a fan of hers.

As for the whole scandal- just to give you all some scoop- insider trading ala' greek chat!

For the above boss- I use to organize all her photographs (yes- what a glam job I led!).

One photo I remember was Martha & Sam Waksal on a bed in a private jet!!!! I wish I would of snapped it up and I could now sell it to some cheesy tabloid for mucho bucks but I am not that kind of employee. I just could not steal it!

As for the mother/daughter sleeping with Sam thing... I think that is all b.s- can't see it happening. But did you see her last issue? I always read her calendar...

One entry...

Surprise birthday dinner with Alexis

How can it be a surprise when you put it in your magazine???

ladybug1116 09-05-2002 09:49 AM

This is all too funny. And it's much more interesting than work :)

Another bit of "real life" Martha....one of our families best friends is a pilot and he flies private jets for the rich (and sometimes famous). He regularly flew Martha Stewart around. He said she was the biggest b*tch. She always brought her dogs on the plane and they would be out of control and mess things up (keep in mind this wasn't her jet but one she was "renting")...she would only drink a certain bottled water and then make the staff boil the "impurities" out and then rechill it...her lemon wedges had to be cut a certain way...and if it was done incorrectly she'd make the people do it over again. That was just some of the little things that he told us about.

MeLikey 09-05-2002 08:23 PM

I'm actually from the same town Martha grew up in...my friend from elementary school lives in the house she grew up in. She went to my elementary and high school too. When I was younger I used to wake up early on the weekends to watch her (mind you I was pretty young!).
