How do you justify your GC Addiction???
 

So I know all you 400+ posters are on this all the time, so what do you tell co-workers, roomates, friends/family when they ask, "What the hell is that purple web-site you are always on?"

I just say, email, cause its generally not worth the hassle to explain.

What do you say.

Or should we call this thread, "Explinations for the outsiders" lol.

I find myself having to explain to my independent friends... they say, "You mean that there's an entire message board that's just about Greek life?" Yeah, more or less. I've used the email line many a time. But my favourite rationalization is that the "Random" thread is the only thing that keeps me sane at work... and it's a great place to cyber-flirt with cute guys. At least, they type adorably. Right Optimist? :D

It's not purple, dammit, it's periwinkle.

I just tell whoever that I am "posting messages on a message board." When I am on the computer, a friend of mine always asks, "Are you posting??" My response, "Of course I am posting." :)

LOL!!! SOMEbody on this campus has to keep up with what's going on in the world of national GLOs!

I get teased about it all the time and I just say, right now its my only way to keep active as an alumna. Which at first it was! :)

I tell them I am bored and its the best place on the net. Usually I do my posting at work. I do it home when I am not busy and there is nothing on tv or at the movies.

I often hear, "Tanya, are you bothering those people on that website again?"

I say "No, I'm sending an email."

I tell people, "I'll be there in a minute!" and then erase the history. I am totally a GC junkie.

Nobody has ever asked.

My girlfriend sometimes makes fun of it. That's about it though.

I only work with three other people and my computer screen isn't facing out so they can't see what I'm doing. :)

I don't get on GC at work and I live by myself. So I pretty much don't have to tell anybody anything! :D

Luckily no one at work has ever asked me, and at home I just say it's a message board. My boyfriend makes fun of me about it, but he also says I'm way overboard about greek life in general since "it's a college thing" and I graduated a year ago.

Yeah, my boyfriend definitely makes fun. When I'm at work, I say, "Doing research." *shrugs* My job is research on schizophrenics, so just *maybe* my answer isn't a total lie. ;)

the fiance makes fun of me...does not understand my obsession with the rush threads....at work, noone has ever bothered to ask. plus, you can't see my computer unless you are all the way in my office, so i don't thik anyone has ever seen it. unlike somepeople who i work with who have their computer screen facing the door and you can always see what they are doing.

No one has ever asked at work...although I'm sure a couple of my office mates wonder. If they ever did ask I would say it was a forum for my professional organization. (And the AMTA really does have one so it's wouldn't be too far fetched)

My friends don't really say much...and since the internet is much faster here in the office I'm rarely on GC at home anymore. My boyfriend lurks around on GC himself...he really can't make fun of me at all :p

I've never visited GC from work. At home, sometimes my husband asks what I'm up to and I just say "I'm online" - usually he is vegging in front of the TV watching some program I'm not interested in, so that's the end of that.

My excuse is that I get bored at work, which is originally how I happened upon this site. I work as a tutor in a walk-in lab. No customers, what the hell else is there to do? My own sisters make fun of me, but our t-shirt chair loves the ideas I've gotten off of it. My boyfriend also teases me a lot. He's in a fraternity, too, but he's not nearly as active as I am in Zeta. I eat, sleep, and breathe Zeta, so it's only natural I guess that I would become addicted to something else related to Greek life.

Oh, we can dig it. :)
