librasoul22 09-04-2002 02:58 PM

The Floetry video for Floetic is very creative.

Hey Ma...well Juelz Santana is exteremly cute to me. I think it is the way he smiles all the time.

3rd Storee - how old are these boys? Dunno but some of them are fine! The song kinda sucks though.

BluPurrfection6 09-04-2002 03:45 PM

Jimmie Valene-(The gut who hosted the VMA' Mtv's and Saturday Night Live) Idiot Boyfriend-:D is so funny when he did Bobby Brown's Every little Step Video I was on the floor!! He did Micheal Jackon that was funny and when he was humping the grandmother oh my lawrd!!! Watch Mtv to see that number.

Trian and Tweet- I like them both but UHHH I don't like the song.
The beat is off and what is Trina wearing? And her hair, that weave looks terrible. Tweet looks nice though

Faith Evans- My girl!! My rolemodel( lol) She looks great, surprised to see her and Missy together ( you know the stuff with Lil Kim and stuff, another topic) Puff doing the dayum thing. I like the remix with Freeway though I wish that was the whole song they used with that version for the Video. Great Video.:)

Okay, I just saw the video for Erykah and Common...it is cute!! I like it, esp. when the show Lil' Flip then the screw the music, Texas-style. Creative!

Also just saw J. Timberlake's new video. Okay...why is he FINE in it? He was always cute, but when he was with that chick on the couch, I was like  Sigh. Peace Britney. Peace Janet. Your services will no longer be needed.

All other videos right now are blah, bleh, and whaaa? Those are my reactions to them, lol.

treblk 09-16-2002 03:05 PM

The new song and video from Talib Kwalie featuring Bilial is very good. I just saw it for the first time.

For those who can't watch videos at home, go to
www.launch.com and check all the videos you've missed including songs you haven't heard. You can rate your music and video.

DISAGREE DISAGREE DISAGREEEEEE on the J. Timberlake video. I like the song. But in the video I was looking at him like ? Dude, why is your hair ORANGE. Eww.

But I guess it does answer that question a while back about whether or not Justin was down with the SWIRL. I guess we know now!

And I second your reaction to the other videos, lol. I just download the ones I want to watch from Kazaa.

Okay I have to agree with you on both videos. Erykah was doing her thang! Although when I first heard it on the radio I thought it was about a man, not about Hip-Hop.

Anyway, I also liked Justin's video, but why does he say "I just like your brain?" If anyone knows slang, you know why I said this.

The other video that I'm also diggin' is "Dilemma" by Nelly and Kelly. It's cute, fits the song to a tee, and proves that Kelly can make it without Beyonce.

True. I also think her hair is really cute in this video.

As far as the brain thing, man I dunno. Maybe Janet introduced him to some new stuff...

And did you see the hand motions he was doing on the VMAs when he sang that line? It was sort of an up and down type motion, lmao. Justin is off the chain.

Gina1201 09-17-2002 04:30 PM

It looks like Justin's getting a little thugged out.

LMAo.. I am glad to know that i am not the only one who thinks Justin is cute in that video. Then I remebered when he was on 106th and park talkin about he like black women. He brought out the bandana made a video with a lot of blacks in it. This is not to be taken as a mean comment.. just an observation
:p

Looking good LL

That new LL Cool J "I'm goin love you better" video. LL has graduated yet again singing sweet rap love songs. I especially appreciate the video because the female in the video isn't some fake looking, artificial, super thin, half-white, woman. She's beautiful but like you and me (or maybe more like me hehe).

delph998 09-18-2002 02:36 PM

LL is DEFINITELY Lookin' Good...

I don't know the song, but I do know that LL Cool J is looking so good in that video. He is so fine and I would love to say that we share the same birthday! January 14 baby! Recognize!

nikki1920 09-18-2002 02:52 PM

Ya'll better leave my (white) boyfriend alone!! :) ha ha..
That boy has serious skills.. I love the song, and will be the first in line to buy his album.. I watched the VMAs just for his performance, since the rest of the show was SUPER whack.

LL Cool J: he can still get it!!! WHEW!!! lordhavmercy!!

JinglesSpr99 09-19-2002 12:33 PM

I don't know why?!?!?!

But when i so the LL video first thing i noticed was how good he looks. The second part is it reminds me of the old Julia Roberts movie pretty woman. The first scene that made me think this is the jewlery case. When she puts her hand in and he snaps it shut. The second part is when he is in the limo and she is in the room. Its been long time since I have seen the movie. :p :p :p :p

He was somewhere on TV and he did make the video after Pretty Woman. I think it's cute.:)

Mo' Videos

have ya'll seen the "one on one" video by keith sweat? it is modeled after love & basketball--dang near to the T! but, it's cool. i like it.

and i really love erykah badu's new video for "love of my life." especially when she is in the stairwell rapping with m.c. lyte and when she is on the turntable and looks into the audience...really cute concept for a video

i like "truth hurts" video because she has my girl monique in it. and it is better than the contagious video because she seems more like she is performing and less like she is posing.

and i die laughing every time i see the clipse video for the song "when the last time," when that guy grabs the mic and starts rapping. i have to pause everytime i hear "SHAAWWWTAY! WHAT YO' NAME IS? PILL-BURRY DO MAN."

Ooooooooh MeezDiscreet

LOL, I just watched for the first time ever, the EVE video.. . . now when they are walking on the beach, the editor needs to be shot because her top exposes her left shoulder in the first and last scene and the right in the 2nd and 3rd scene. I was sitting there like EEEEEEEW HUSH. Plus the type was more an ALICIA thing than an EVE one.

Oh and I saw Monica's. . . didn't really like her new look. I love Monica with short hair.

I am watching MTV2Soul. . .maybe they will show Nelly and Kelly.

CrimsonTide4 09-21-2002 11:03 AM

Patti LaBelle

Now y'all KNOW I love me some Patti but she looks like HELL in that Dilemma video. Did you all see it? It's like she is showing her age and a couple of other folks' age too.

I saw the Making of the Video today and then the actual video and I really like it. I like videos that tell a story that go along with the song. I must say Kelly is a really pretty girl and am glad to see her out there on her own.

I also like Erykah's new video. She always comes up with inventive ways to get the song's point across.

I finally saw Truth Hurt's new video. It was better than "Addictive" and it was interesting how she worked R. Kelly's part into the video.

Oh a bad note, did anyone else hear that she and Dr. Dre and being sude for $500 million  because of the Indian sample that they used in the song. Come to find out, the sample was not cleared!

Truth Hurts, and the lawsuit she's just been slapped with can't feel too good, either.

An Indian film and music company is suing the R&B songstress and her associated record labels to the tune of more than $500 million over the use of an unlicensed sample on "Addictive," the first single from Truth Hurts' debut LP, Truthfully Speaking.

A lawyer retained by the Bombay-based Saregama India Limited filed a copyright infringement lawsuit, which names as defendants Truth Hurts, Interscope Records, its parent company Universal Music Group, the album's producer Dr. Dre and his imprint Aftermath Records, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, Houston Division, on September 12.

"Addictive" uses a sample of the 20-year-old song "Thoda Resham Lagta Hai" by the popular Indian artist Lata Mangeshkar without permission from copyright holder Saregama India Ltd., the company's attorney Dedra S. Davis claims. Not only was a snippet of Mangeshkar's soaring vocals borrowed, but the hook, melody and rhythm were also lifted, Davis alleges.

"When you hear it, it's like, 'Oh my god, they didn't even try to get original with it,' " she said. "[They didn't] try to change it up or anything like that."

A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for November 22. Saregama India Ltd. has a British subsidiary branch within the court's jurisdiction in Texas, which accounts for why the case is being heard in Houston.

Davis said she issued Universal Music Group a cease-and-desist letter prior to filing the suit, which the label conglomerate ignored. Additionally, Seregama India Ltd.'s copyright manager asked UMG to stop using the sample because the lyrics of "Addictive," in which rapper Rakim drops the f-bomb in his rhymes and Truth sings the lines "I like it rough" and "He makes me scream," were potentially offensive to some Indians' cultural and religious sensibilities. This letter only serves as evidence that UMG was made aware of Seregama India's claim as copyright holders of the song, and the objectionable content doesn't factor into the lawsuit.

Coincidentally, UMG's foreign subsidiary Universal India sought and was granted permission to license the song for an unrelated use as a cover 12 days before Truthfully Speaking was released June 26, furthering the suit's claim that "the defendants clearly, and admittedly knew their activities were, and currently are, infringing on [Seragama's] copyrighted work."

A Universal Music Group spokesperson had no comment on the matter.

The 90-year-old production and distribution company is seeking monetary damages based on profits from the sale of Truthfully Speaking, the single "Addictive," attorney's fees, and punitive damages amounting to $500 million. Truthfully Speaking has sold more than 273,000 copies, according to SoundScan. The complaint states that "the defendants' infringing conduct has also caused, and is causing, substantial and irreparable injury and damage to [Saregama] in an amount not capable of determination, and, unless restrained, will cause further irreparable injury, leaving the Plaintiffs with no adequate remedy at law."

DJ Quik, who produced "Addictive," said that he stumbled upon the track one night on television.

"I woke up one morning … I turned on the TV and landed on this Hindi channel and just turned it up real loud," Quik explained this past summer. "There was a commercial on and I just got up and went into the bathroom and started brushing my teeth. I'm brushing, and before I knew it, I was grooving … [the beat on the TV] was just in my body. I went back in there and looked at the TV — there was a girl on there bellydancing, just like real fly. So I pushed record on the VCR."

She was on 106 & Park and she stated that the video is a reflection of what the song is about. The "love" of her life is hip-hop, just like Sanaa Lathan and Taye Diggs in Brown Sugar. This song is off the soundtrack. In the video Erykah is Hip-Hop and she goes through all the different phases that hip-hop has been through, i.e. breakdancing, west coast rap, etc.

I can't believe no one has talked about Christina Aguilera's video. I went the longest time avoiding it, then bam! Flip on MTV and of course they are showing it. So I nearly regurgitated my lunch due to the utter lack of taste (as well as lack of clothing) in the video. It is horrid. It is raunchy. It is debauchery at its worst. Overall, she just sucks, lol. Why is she fronting like she's hardcore? Ol' girl was JUST an airhead the other day! Now she's gangsta with it? Nope...sorry. And don't think that Redman gives you street cred either. Sorry again.

I just loathe Christina all of a sudden and it really is a shame because the girl has talent. Somewhere. Under that new slutty/wannabe ghetto, but ain't really/DIRRRRRRRTY exterior. Sigh.

I watched the making of the video for this and she was saying something about wanting to get outta the "good little girl" image b/c that's not her and she's never really been like that....something to that effect. But yea the video is quite "dirty"... I'm guessing it's like to reflect the song (I think this was also mentioned in "making the video") I still love her despite her appearance. She has definitely changed over the years, but her voice is still on point. She could blow a lot of these newer people outta the water anytime, anywhere. Talent like that comes around only once in awhile. However, I do think it would help her crediblity if she toned down a little so that people could actually focus on her voice and not what she is (or isn't:eek: ) wearing.

Well, I sensed from the MTV awards that she was going to come out with a new image but I did not know that she was going to get this grimey. I like the song but she really took it too far. I was watching it and was like WHOA . And the pants with her butt sticking out just went over the edge.

My take on the "Dirrty" video.....

HOT SLUTTY MESS!!!!!!!!!!! I wanna know WTH she and her "comrades" were thinking when they came up with the concept of this HOT SLUTTY MESS!!! When I saw this video, something shoulda told me about what was to come when I saw her outfit at the MTV VMA's. Yet another HOT SLUTTY MESS!!!! Where is her mother in all of this? And I heard that her grandma isn't too happy with how she's acting nowadays. She's apologized to Grandma once before, I wonder how many times she'll apologize now that she released this HOT SLUTTY MESS of a video? Sorry for all of the CAPS, but I think those three words are the basic emphasis of my post. I still like the song though....:D :p

Work It

Has anyone else seen Missy's new video "Work It"? She has lost a lot of weight! Although the song is kind of explicit, I though the video was alright. I liked the car hood with Aaliyah and Left Eye airbrushed on it. There is also another scene I liked where Missy and four dancers each have on a shirt with the name of a famous person that has passed: Big Pun, Biggie, 2Pac, and Left Eye. Missy of course has the Aaliyah shirt and she also has a Jean Jacket with Aaliyah's picture on the back.
