Really bad dreams...

Ok, this is probably a really stupid question, but..

Does anyone have anything that they do when they have "bad" dreams? Last night I couldn't sleep too well because I was having a series of horrible dreams and I was wondering if anyone has tried anything to put their mind at ease ? (I tried not going back to sleep, but within a short period of time I had ended up closing my eyes again and falling asleep :p )

If you are ever thinking of travelling to Parts of the world such as Asia and you need to take a course of anti malarial tablets watch out!!! THEY give you the single handedly most FREAKY dreams....... Thats the only thing I hate about travel is the blasted effect of those tablets, you dread going to sleep at times the dreams get that bad!

If it's that bad of a dream, I'll turn the tv on sleep timer and fall back asleep after having watched it for a while. When I was with Will I had a bad dream and simply rolled over closer to him (guys are good for that). Most of the time if I've had a bad dream I don't do anything. A lot of the time I'll wake up to end the dream but not realize anything is wrong and just close my eyes and fall asleep again.

I have terrible dreams about tornados, family members dying, people chasing me...etc.

kevlar-Bad Dreams: I take a shower. Good Dreams: I take a shower. LOL!:D

The sleep timer is good for me. I'll put it on a channel like History or the animal channel because the people are talking so soft, almost like a whisper. I have found if the last thing I watch before sleep is comedy, I rarely have a bad dream.
There are ways you can learn to manipulate dreams, but some psychologists think that's unhealthy.

I honestly cannot remember the last time I had a bad dream. I don't even want to read what Hootie had to say b/c I am about to go to bed and don't need her bad dream on my mind. :D

This is true.

I had a recurring dream for years after college.

There was an English Lit final the next day, and I hadn't bought the book yet.

Actually, come to think of it, that was probably just a re-enforcement of something that actually happened.

First of all, I don't like scary movies. So I don;t watch them. Anyways this was when I was younger. My sister and I were at home, just flippin through the channels, one station had Freddy kruger part whatever on it, we watched like 10 minutes of it, then changed it. That night I had a nightmare that he was chasing my sister and I through the house, and we hide underneath the porch, and he was coming to get us. Then i woke up.

Rio_Kohitsuji 11-14-2002 07:11 PM

Okay, since everyone else is posting all their bad dreams up, here's mine:
I just had this one last night, all I remember is I was at my house when I heard my neice screaming (who lives next door). So, I'm running over and when I'm coming up to the porch I see these lights about 40 feet from me in the bushs. I shrug it off and run up the stairs and she's there is no one in the house. I come back down and find my neice up in the tree shivering and I look back over to the lights and it ends up being a guy on a motorcross bike in full gear. As soon as I notice him he peels out onto the highway but I'm in turn scared sh*tless. Then..I wake up. *shrugs*

Best thing to do after a bad dream: Just get up and watch t.v.. :)

I had a really bad dream a week ago. At least I think it was a dream..it was so vivid I don't know if it happenend or not. I was asleep and then I woke up. When I woke up I saw a guy standing at my door. I squinted my eyes trying to see who it was and then he started walking towards me. As he started walking, I could see that he was transparent..he was a ghost!!! He walked over to my bed and started pushing me.. I swear to god I could feel it!!! I shrieked and lay in bed scared to move for 20 minutes. Then I got up and turned on the lights. I slept with my lights on and the covers over my head that night!!!

ADPiViolets 11-14-2002 11:33 PM

Whenever I wake up from a bad dream, I lay back down, and try to think of something nice. Chances are, that becomes part of my next dream. Give that a try!

Hootie 11-14-2002 11:48 PM

Phi Mu!
That's freaky!

bgsugirlie 11-15-2002 01:14 AM

Phimugirlie...OH MY GOD!!!! That is so strange that you brought up that dream because I know of so many other people who say that the same thing has happened to them. But the people I know said it wasn't a dream...that it really happened...and it was late at night and the man was pushing down on their chest and they weren't able to move or scream. They said it was just inexplainable.

Was he wearing a hat???
