So who works out?

I do not see a post to the beginning of this thread. Was it deleted?

At any rate, if this was about working out...I certainly do. I am currently committed to going to the gym EVERY night (no matter how tired I am). I have been doing cardio and weights...mostly just getting back in the routine of weight lifting.
I certainly do miss having a workout partner, but I don't mind going late at night when hardly anyone is there and I can just not worry about what everyone thinks LOL!

Hootie;)

When I posted it seemed laggy. Anywho my original post was just about who works out. I work out almost everyday cuz the frosh 15+5 hit me bad.

swissmiss04 08-28-2002 12:18 AM

Lately I haven't had much time to do so..17 hours and working will really screw the schedule. But, I do walk pretty quickly to my classes, I swim a couple times a week and I try to lift weights when the chance arises. BTW, I've found that drinking that Propel water (gatorade makes it) my workouts seems to go easier. I think 'cause I stay hydrated, it tastes good, and it's not nearly as heavy as gatorade. I suggest the black cherry flavor.

AOX81 08-28-2002 08:00 AM

I don't work out...I'm a slacker!

AGDPrincess70 08-28-2002 08:06 AM

I'm a dancer, and I take class three times a week, so I pretty much get my workouts from that, but most days before class, I try to go to the gym for a pre-class stretch and maybe do some free weights and extra crunches. But I'm going to be taking 16 credits this semester, working three jobs, etc, so we'll see if I can even make it to dance class!

MoxieGrrl 08-28-2002 10:25 AM

Since graduation, I have not hit the gym, but I do the Torso Track every night, oblique crunches, leg lifts (the kind that target the inner thigh!), and walk about a mile. That's about all I have the energy for after work. I used to *love* the elliptical machine at school!

Optimist Prime 08-28-2002 10:29 AM

I do! I started Hydroxy cut today. I hope it works.

MoxieGrrl 08-28-2002 02:10 PM

Optimist: I just started Hydroxycut on Monday! It doesn't give you that horrible jittery feeling like some "diet suppliments" do, but it seems to be working!

Tini 08-28-2002 02:28 PM

Ideally I'd like to work out 4 times a week. Lately, though, I've been too busy... I only went once in the past month. But I'll get back into it next week.

Usually I do about 150 crunches and 100 leg lifts (don't know the correct term)... Oh and I run on the treadmill for 30 minutes.

That's all I'm up to right now. I don't do weights. I'm very tiny, so I don't really need to do much. I just go to tone and clear my mind. If I can't get to the gym, I go dancing. I know that sounds silly, but I swear to you.. dancing is great exercise!! :)

Rio_Kohitsuji 08-28-2002 02:59 PM

Mmm..somedays...I walk all over campus for classes then since I work for the school I walk over campus doing their dirty work, that counts as working out, right? :)

Optimist Prime- Don't use that stuff!! All it does is increase your heart rate! But, if you use it make sure NOT to take anything w/supherdrine (sp?) you know, any type of Sudafed type medicine, it'll double the stress on your heart and you could risk heart failure and/or damage. Also, do you transform into a nifty firetruck too?

DRau 08-28-2002 05:41 PM

Yoga is heaven-sent. I was a gymnast for 15 years so keeping my flexibility has always been at the top of my fitness goals. After cardio and weights, a yoga class is ESSENTIAL! I do it 5 days a week and I have never felt better.

aephi alum 08-28-2002 07:07 PM

I try to work out 3-4 times a week. I actually have a nice little home gym going... exercise bike, elliptical, weight machine, and a few little hand weights. And I'm on my feet a lot during the day.

XOAlumXO 08-29-2002 11:14 PM

I work out every morning before work. I do cardio for 30 minutes than weights- I do arms and back one day and then legs the next day.

Hootie 08-29-2002 11:38 PM

May
You are so much braver than I! I cannot do morning workouts. I did it for a while with my ex roommate and 5 15 did nothing but make me that much more tired for class!
YOU GO GIRL!

<----------------- Works out!!!

Actually, the best things I ever did were to start eating right and to start exercising in the morning rather than the evening. I now feel so much more energetic during the day. That alone is totally worth getting up an hour earlier every day.

KarenC725 08-30-2002 01:48 AM

I work out 5-6 times a week, mixing it up between running, videos, and weights. Since I've been downsized, I've been working out in the morning and feel better throughout the day. Plus I don't have to worry about drying my hair again:)

SATX*APhi 08-30-2002 03:55 AM

Well, I do have a membership to a gym. I try to drag myself in, but it rarely happens. I am planning on going tomorrow, so I hope I actually go!! I definitely need to start going. In high school I went about 4 - 5 times a week for about an hour. What happend to the discipling?? ;)

aggieAXO 08-30-2002 05:30 AM

Hootie,

I am with you I can't work out in the morning and have a full day ahead b/c it just makes me tired. I use to go after work in the AM and then was pretty tired and wen t to bed but not anymore I just don't have the energy :(.

ThetaLove 08-30-2002 06:53 PM

I jog, run, walk, situps, etc. I was wondering if anyone would recommend a good yoga tape for beginners or if it would be better to take a class?

PandaOnProzac 08-30-2002 06:54 PM

I feel bad cuz this weekend I'm going to Vegas with my family.

Vegas = buffets = fat Panda

CC1GC 08-31-2002 04:21 PM

I hit the gym 5/6 days a week:

Back/Biceps (twice a week) - 12 exercises between the two days
Shoulders/Triceps (twice a week) 12 excercises between the two days
Chest - 4 exercises (incline press, straight fly, decline bench, straight press) the order changes every week
Legs - i'm sticking with the same 6 exercises right now, only because i don't want to kill my legs because i play touch-ball a couple times a week.

The group i do by far the least are my abs...the only action they see is inbetween sets for any of the above exercises.

For supplements; right now i'm taking liquid creatine, multivitamins, and you're typical whey protein shake (w/ glutamine).

queequek 09-01-2002 02:02 AM

I do :D

bucutie02 09-01-2002 10:29 PM

I am getting a membership to a gym pretty soon and was wondering what a good workout routine would be. I was thinking about.....

maybe walking for about 5-10 minutes as a warm up, then doing some weights either upper or lower body and then do the ones i didnt do the next day, and finishing up with some cardio- maybe the treadmill. How does that sound?
