NCAA Football... It's in the game!

Ugh. I'm watching college football. Ohio State Buck-me-eyes are playin Texas Tech. You know what that means? OMG we're all goin back to school soon! AHHHHHH! They scored. I can't believe the first Michigan game is next Saturday.

Are you watching football? Did you just get a random thought about NCAA Football? Post your random thoughts.

PM_Mama00 08-24-2002 02:55 PM

The announcer just said something about the guy who "took the lick in the chops". Word for word. Funny.

librasoul22 08-24-2002 03:32 PM

SO ready for football season!!

I was watching UGA vs. Auburn earlier. It was a really good game. The Seminoles start tonight. I will put it out there now. FSU is going to take it all the way this year.

DeltaSigStan 08-24-2002 03:37 PM

Josh8o,

YOU READY TO SEE OUR SDSU AZTECS GET THEIR ASS KICKED?!?!?!?!? I'm Ready for some football baby! Go Air Force beating SDSU 55-14 in the middle of the 3rd quarter like the last game I went to!

PiKA2001 08-24-2002 03:47 PM

I dont know where the summer went, before I know it will be homecoming. I'm hoping that the Warriors are gonna kick some ass this season. I think the first game is against Ferris State.

Trying to raise your spirits before another let down season by the infamous Chris Rix?

DeltaSigStan 08-24-2002 03:57 PM

1) I know Bobby Bowden had good intentions when he wanted FSU's slogan to be "Let's Roll", but I think that anything pertaining to 9/11 shouldn't be used in that matter.

2) Does anyone remember who the preseason #1 was?

PM_Mama00 08-24-2002 03:58 PM

Our high school coach got offered the head coaching job at WSU, but he turned it down.

He was the best coach Riverview has seen... next to Loyd Carr.

Last year he retired cuz some fag lil kid decided him and his mom were gona say that the Doc hit him. Right. So sad that students these days can just determine who teaches at a school and who doesn't. Doc was an asshole, but he was an awesome coach, and the football field is named after him.

Well he was endorsed by the family of the guy who said it. I really don't know what the big deal was with that anyway.

UF_Pike...lol...sorry, but most of the FSU QB's take a year to settle themselves...look at Charlie Ward and Chris Weinke...and what happened to both of them.

DeltaSigStan 08-24-2002 05:33 PM

Really? Wow Didn't know that......I guess if Todd Beamer's family says it's fine......but still, there's a difference between "let's roll" before going out to face Florida U in football, and "let's roll" before trying to take back a plane when you know you're about to die.

Especially now that this is the first time Bobby Bowden has ever started a freshman QB.

Just got back from Nebraska's first game of the season.

Jamal Lord looked good running the ball, but with the exception of the touchdown pass to Wilson Thomas he sucked throwing the ball...only like 36 yards. Not quite Eric Crouch like at all, but he's got time to improve.

Darrhan Diedrick ran well, but not well enough to shed his co #1 spot on the depth chart at I-back. Thunder Collins also ran decently enough to keep the depth chart as is.

The special teams play rocked with two blocked punts - one for a touchdown.

Defense was decent, but I don't think I like the move from exclusive man to man to a mixture of zone and single coverage. Seemed like all of Arizona State's big gains came from the zone coverage.

Other than that I'm glad that football has started, and surprisingly am ready for classes to start...BTW our new pledges rock!!!

Wisconsin's first football game of the season was last night. They beat Fresno State 23-21. It was my first Badger game and I had lots and lots of fun. However, athletically things are not looking good for the upcoming season.

chopper816 08-25-2002 02:28 AM

betarulz- I was also at the game and i thought that the score made the game look more one sided than it was. the passing game is horrible and the running game wasnt the best nebraskas put on, however Lord did have some good runs. The best part was the special teams, if the huskers are going to be successful this year the special teams are going to have to keep it up. the defense got better throughout the game though, hopefully the offense will come around next week.

Tom Earp 08-25-2002 10:32 AM

Well all fo you big time D-1 fans, I have one thing to say!

D-II!!!!!!!!!

My Pitt State U Gorillas will be playing NWMo U In Arrowhead Oct 16 th.

Home of the KC Chefs!

These 2 teams have won the conference title 12 of the last 13 years.

One always goes to the National playoffs!

Unfortunatly we get beat by NDS as nothing to do in No. Dak but play fooseball! We just need Bobby Bouche' Da WAWA BOY!

chopper816 08-26-2002 12:07 AM

when i was at the game last night, i made the comment that if they play like they did against asu, texas will pummel them down the road. i think they look like an 8-3 or 7-4 team, but hopefully their record will be better....

UMgirl 08-26-2002 12:20 AM

PM Mama....

All I have to say is that the yellow flag with that huge blue M, goes up in my window this weekend :) I am there definately for the Wisconsin game. GO BLUE!

Hootie 08-26-2002 12:21 AM

I would LOVE to see them pummle TX...especially so I could rub it in my ex's pouting face! But alas, I don't know that we will!

Here's to hoping!

Hootie

chopper816 08-26-2002 12:25 AM

Please, PLEASE continue to overlook your Oct. 26th trip to College Station. Believe me, the 'shorthorns' should be the least of y'all's worries. :D

Kyle Field is one of the toughest places to play in the country, and if the Huskers are looking forward to the whorns, y'all will be in for a tough game. That being said, with Chris Simm's track record in big games, y'all should really concentrate more on us.

But, save for the game on Oct. 26th, i will be rooting for y'all. My mom's family are all Husker fans from South Dakota, and i would especially love it if y'all trounce the whorns for us. ;)

PS By all means, if y'all would rather heed the Burnt Orange Media Conspiracy than pay attention to us lil ole Aggies, be my guest :D

6 seconds left on the clock.... Michigan 28, Washington 29.....

44 (?) yard fieldgoal....... IT'S GOOD!

OMG Michigan 31, Washington 29.....

It's a good day to be a Wolverine!!!!

The last poll I heard, it was Oklahoma -- but that was a while ago. However, the National Merit Office at O.U. promised us that they would be number one this year. They wouldn't lie, would they?

And how about Colorado State today? Does Sonny Lubick have Gary Barnett's number, or what? Three wins in the past four meetings. The Buffs probably won't be number 6 next week, but still should be pretty strong.

The Big 12 could be interesting this year with Nebraksa's relative weakness.

GO CYCLONES! BEAT THE HAWKS! :p

Most disappointing game/best comeback of the night. Oklahoma State blows an 18 point lead in the 4th quarter and loses 36 to 39 on a TD made with less than a minute left in the game.

Only OK state could pull this off!

kddani 09-06-2002 10:46 PM

bump up for the week!

Are there any Aggies on here? I think i saw one earlier....

looking forward to the Pitt- Texas A&M game tomorrow, should be a fun one!

BTW- who's the clown who came up with the idea of noon start times???? Makes tailgating a pain in the ass. I've only drank before 11 AM once in my life, and that was before the last Pitt-Penn State game (which started at 3:30 but we were drinkin' at 10!). In order to get in ANY tailgating time I have to get up at the buttcrack of dawn on a Saturday! Thank god i'm staying in tonight! I can't imagine waking up on the West Coast and games already going on on tv at 9 in the morning!

LET'S GO PITT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey now, I have to agree with KSigRC on this one -- of course the Hawks are going to kick some serious butt this year in general, but of course agains the Cyclones.

GO HAWKS!!! BEAT THE CYCLOWNS! (I really like that -- cyclowns, by the way.) :D :D :D

Oh yeah, there's an Aggie here.;)

Have fun at the game tomorrow. I wish i could go, but Pitt's a bit too much of a road trip for me. I expect it to be a pretty close game, but hopefully the good guys(in this case bein the Ags) will pull it out.

See, our game with t.u. used to ALWAYS be on Thanksgiving night and televised by ESPN till the year we got put on no-TV probation(1994 i believe). Since then, kickoff for that game has always been at like 10:00 AM. that's a SUPER early kickoff for a huge rivalry game like that. So, i have drank a couple times before noon, but not too too often ;)

Dani, do yourself a favor, don't head to the stands at halftime until you get a chance to take in The Nationally Famous....Fightin' Texas Aggie Band. IMHO the standard by which ALL college bands should be measured. I assure you that you won't regret it. I would have told ya to make it out to our Midnight Yell Practice, but i think it's a bit late for that. All in all, have fun and good luck.

Close game
Ags 24 Panthers 17 (my prediction)

You just have to drink the right stuff that early in the morning...fuzzy navels, bloody mary's. You know...the alcoholics' breakfast;)

I can't WAIT for the UF - Miami game. Go 'Canes! I abhor the Gators.

I'm having doubts! Bama really cleaned Oklahoma's clock in the second half today.

I wouldn't say the OU win was a fluke -- big teams make big plays -- but they sure didn't look like a national champion team. You can't win many games with negative rushing yardage.

Another report

Iowa State - Iowa

36-31

GO CLONES! Beat the Hawks (again) (and again) :D

UMgirl 09-15-2002 12:03 AM

*One PISSED OFF UM Alumna*

Navarre kinda blew when I was at UM. I would think he would have gotten better after almost 2 years. GUESS NOT! :(

oh well I have been a ND fan since I was 10. So part of me is happy, like 30%. I am all about the Lou Holtz/ Rick Meyer/ Jerome Bettis years ;)

I know the pain.

Last year, kickoff against BYU was set for 11:30 to accomodate ESPN. Gates opened at 7:30 for the tailgaters. We got to the stadium to get in line at 5 just so we could get our usual spot. I really don't suggest drinking at the butt crack of dawn. AGDLynn knows what I'm talking about.

EagleChick19 09-15-2002 12:33 AM

Penn State (PA) beat Nebraska 40-7! But, their kick-off time was at 7 PM. I went to State College today, and it was a madhouse!! One rule I learned: Never go to State College on PSU home game days!!!

UMgirl 09-15-2002 01:25 AM

Tailgating/Noon Games

Going to Michigan, you get very use to having Noon/1pm games. We may get two 3pm games and the only time we get a night game is when we play Northwestern at their stadium. For some reason the Big House does not have night lights for a game (but instead of spending them on that, they decided to go out and put an UGLY-FUGLY a$$ halo around the stadium that cost way to much, which they took down after 3 weeks cuz everyone hated it)
But for Big games like ND, OSU and MSU tailgating especially for alumni starts at seriously 5am in the morning (Pioneer HS parking lot along with the UM golf course). Students tend to start at like 8/9am. Everyone gets to the stadium early cuz driving and walking to it takes forever, especially when ESPN's Game Day comes.

Does anyone else sell parking spots on their front lawns? A lot of students did this for ppl cuz parking on Game Saturdays suck and use the money for kegs???
It's so bad that you can actually get a ticket for parking in certain areas of A2 (Ann Arbor) on game day.

PM_Mama00 09-15-2002 11:06 AM

UMgirl, I hear ya! Even though I go to Dearborn, it may be even worse! For noon games, wake up at 7am, leave at 8am, get there by 9am (if we're lucky with traffic), tailgate till 11:30am, pack up and walk to game, miss kickoff cuz the stupid gate people only keep ONE gate open and people are pushing to get to the front, leave game early cuz it's too hot walking up and down to the 29th row of section 29 almost makes us pass out. OH boy!!!! Can't wait for the State game!!! Is that a nooner or 3? I remember 2 years ago it was 3... and that was awesome!
