Yet another UF story
 

I met the five phichis. It's going really well already. Though being at the tent this morning at 8 am was a struggle and a half! I visited Sigma Kappa, De Phi E, and Kappa Alpha Theta! The rushing out of the tent wasn't nearly as scary as it sounded.
I think I met SigmaKappaSweetie- I bet there is only one Dale *she's so sweet*! We had a little convo - I wanted to say something like Hi from GC or something but I didnt! I felt my conversation at De Phi E was the best, but thats only for now! I also had the Delta Zeta presentation- and it definately looks interesting to be a colony founder. This afternoon I'm seeing PiPhi, Kappa Kappa Gamma, and DG! I can't wait!
Oh wait girls- what UF group numbers do we have? PM me please! I feel alone in my group...

i can't believe there's so many of you rushing on here! It's so much fun to hear all these stories. Makes me feel old, even though I just graduated. Oh how fun it would be to go through rush again!

So cool to see someone mention D Phi E!!! We aren't at a lot of these big schools, so it's cool for me to get to get root for someone now :) But you go where your heart is! I hope you're having a fantastic time and can't wait to hear the rest of your story!

I did meet a potential member named Mary-Kate this morning and she was totally awesome, I loved talking to her and wish her all the luck in the world! :) I think she'll do very well for herself this week, and I hope I find out if she comes back later on in recruitment so I can give the other sisters a heads up.

The true update- now that I found the book!
 

Girls- I ran over to the Purple P. It's not too far, but still. My recruitment book was just outside! GRR! At least I found it... I'd be so lost without it!
alright the new updates include

Pi Beta Phi- such a cute house (it's pink), very sweet, cute just overall (and have the angel mascot), met another senior , they seem to have a good time living on frat row (fun times on the frat row bus girls? hehe)


Kappa Kappa Gamma- met two girls, sweet of course, had seriously everything in common with the first girl, the other was more reserved but still cool (definately could have used more time) one was a senior the other a junior i think



Last party was DG- wow- they really rush the tent, seemed like they were coming from all over- not a bad thing, just like WOW! very sweet, very cheery and clapped a lot! seemed enthusiastic, met quite a few girls but didn't feel passed around (all seemed great)

Yes, I have nine houses tomorrow! Not a single break, should be crazy! (small sarcasm- yes it's a low form of humor)
I can hardly wait, now it's time for sleepp!! YES!

Alright- so many houses!

Chi O- mom's house, friendly vibe, didn't run into my friend whose a member both a good and a bad thing

A Chi O- down to earth- lovely,

AOPi- SOO many cute pandas, nice house, cute skit

AEPhi- loved the two i talked with seemed friendly kinda like me!, not too quiet for once! skit about sex and the city modeled - was nice

ADPi-wow, very impressed, loved them all! so perfect was a lil intemidated! Hurt rumors they cut based on high school grades

girls- i just had to eat, and the computer system got messed up before my group got to leave, so we had to wait around extra!

Unfortunately, I only got invitied back to six... but I'm alright!

what i'm feeling right now
only six- some girls got invitied back to so many, but i expected to be cut from a few
AXO- good girls, down to earth but not as much as i expected from their appearences

XO- i hope i wasn't just asked back because i was a legacy, but i like them and can see myself there quite a bit

ADPi- very surprised to be asked back, beautiful beautiful beautiful, really pretty house, talked to awesome girls

KKG- adored the girl i talked with- so similar (lots of my friends were dropped by them)

Phi Mu- didn't reallly feel the house (kinda visited it in the middle)
nice newer home, but well see as it goes on

SigmaKappa- Dale's group I know, girls are nice, i think they need a larger pledge class
I'm trying to not listen to the tent talk that Phi Mu and SK ask everyone back!

I definately can back up the not-listening-to-the-tent-talk, people were saying the same things when I went through, and if I had listened, I might not have ended up where I am. I know now that my house is hands down the only one for me, and I'm perpetually grateful I paid no attention to the bitchy girls in my tent. (As a side note, two of the 'talkers' have since dropped the 'good' sorority they joined for its reputation; apparently, reputation isn't everything!)

I'm so glad to have you GC girls ! So encouraging, especially since I have some friends being asked back to a few more than I did- fortunately, I'm not too close with anyone who got asked back to more than 10!
Thou I think I saw just lots of names on some people's cards... darn, probably because my high school gpa was a lil off I had probably a 3.0 (instead of a 2.7)... my school doesn't do weighting, or ranking, but that's not my fault! I adore the school I went to- even if it's not like a feeder school into a specific sorority !

First, Congratulations on your invites! You have absolutely wonderful chapters to see so if I were you I'd be thrilled! Love to see that Alpha Delta Pi is on your list--yeah!!
As for the tent talk that you are experiencing, it makes me fume. Those pnms who say pejorative things about the houses to other pnms really, really don't know what they are talking about. In addition I always tend to question their motivations in going through recruitment, it seems to me they're simply looking for letters and a party. My advice to you is to stay away altogether and if that's not possible, change the subject, you can always mention how hot it is or how much your feet are hurting.
Okay enough of my lecturing about tent talk. Hopefulgreek you are doing so well, I'm so happy for you. Keep your heart open and you'll definitely find your place!

Sounds like things are going well for you, you're going to see six great sororities you seem pleased with. Just like everyone else has already said, don't you dare listen to the tent-talkers. Stay true to yourself and your instincts, you're doing so well. Choose what's best for you regardless of what the other girls may think. There's no way they could know the internal operations of the sororities, it makes me think that they could be passing up the sisterhood of their lifetime by believing such things. I'm glad you're smart enough to know better!

LOL! We laugh every year about how the talk is that we "invite everyone back." Our Nationals doesn't require us (at UF) to cut as heavily early on, and just because we invite back doesn't mean we want EVERY PNM as a sister. If the girls that were talking only knew!!! Anyway, I'm happy you are excited about your houses and know you'll have a wonderful time, even though it still feels like it's 110 degrees outside!!

Sweetie-
1. Some PNMs like to ACT like they know everything about sororities. :rolleyes: Makes them feel "special".
2. Many, MANY girls from our little corner dropped out of their sorority because they joined for the WRONG reasons.
3. GPA-yes, that could have an influence.
4. Feeder schools-heard about that too (at another university)
5. In such a competative environment, YOU ARE DOING GREAT!


Like everyone has said-SCREW THE OTHER PNMs and listen to YOUR heart!:D :eek: Did I just say that! ;) Yes, I did!

yeah pi chis! They let us go if you have 2 or more lounges! I have three right off the bat... I have to leave at 7 to get to KKG and then AChiO... two great orgs!
