Okay met with our Pi Chi's today at Rush Orientation. Round 1 starts tomorrow!

UF56, run don't walk to the Greek Advisor's office first thing tomorrow morning and get this straightened out. I have no idea what the sororities at UF get, but better to be safe. You will have a much better rush and probably more choices if they know the CORRECT information.

The Greek Affairs office should be open earlier b/c the chpaters usually have to check in or pick up lists and stuff. You could maybe call tonight and leave a voicemail so they can call you back or just try to get out of your place early in the morning and swing by before you meet in the morning (I'd say both). I know it's ealry, but it could make all the difference.

I just called the Membership Vice President of Panhellenic and she said the only way for them to change it is to have a letter from my advisor or from the University. The only thing is that my grade changes aren't in the computer and school is closed right now.....I am so freaking out it's not funny. She said if my advisor could fax them a letter then that would work but all my advisors are on vacation.

That doesn't seem right that your Pi Chi ( I think that is what they call it) didn't help you out. I know at my school, (we call them Rho Chi's) would have definately taken some action to see that it is corrected. I would definately take AOpiBrandi's advice and get up extra early and run to the greek life office. Since rush is going on they should be there.
Maybe you should tell your situation to whoever you talk to in the sorority during the parties. I am not sure what any one else thinks about that, but last year a girl came through and she had the wrong gpa and had gotten dropped from all but a couple and she was heartbroken. She told us about it and our president talked to the rho chi's and tried to resolve the situation. I am not sure what happened, but I don't think it would hurt to let them know. However, when you go to your parties, don't be all upset because of this, make sure you can still act like yourself so that everyone can find out what a wonderful person you are, and maybe you will find a home where none of that matters! Okay things are better now. I am going to my advisor during the break today and he is going to write a letter to fix everything and then Panhellenic is going to fix it. So I am getting ready to go to Round 1 this morning. Good Luck to all my fellow GATORS!!!! ;)

As curlygirly already mentioned we had Round 1 today. But get this we are in the same group. HOW STRANGE IS THAT!! 1200 girls rushing and of the 5 UF PNM's we are in the same group. But back to rush. First party was in the lounge, second was at DZ which did a wonderful presentation and we got to meet the girls who would be the advisors. If I do not feel comfortable where I am going in the end I am definitely going to try for DZ because they seem wonderful. We then went to Pi Phi where I saw ROWDYSISTER's tack board unless there are two Dyans in Pi Phi. Well the girl I talked to was very quiet and it was almost like I was rushing her instead of her rushing me, which made me feel uncomfortable. We then went back to lounge and then to KKG. I was really impressed to the girl I spoke with. She did not look like she belonged in KKG, but she made me really like them. I also liked them because they seemed to care more about you rather than how you look. But when we go back we will be going to the lounge again and then I believe to DG, Chi O, AXO, AOTT. I will update then.

Off topic for a second: your post reminded me of MollyUF's rush story from last year...I wonder how she's doing???

I met curlygirly today and she is very very sweet. SO when we got back we had yet another LOUNGE!! But there are no more....nothing but houses from here on out. So we went to DG, with whom I am absolutely smitten with!! Can I say LOVE!!!!!!! Then we went to Chi O, they seem to be wonderful down to earth girls, could see myself there. We then to AXO they were very sweet girls. I know one of the members from a lab I had this summer so it was nice to see her (she seemed happy to see me too!). And then we went to AOTT. I really really liked AOTT. It was very homey and fun. Tomorrow we will visit in this order: AEPhi, ADPi, Phi Mu, ZTA, Tri-Delta, KD, SK, DPhiE, Theta. Oh I also wanted to write that since I have been posting the houses and feelings that I have that I do not want anyone to be offended as it is hard to get a feel for a house especially after only 20 minutes in them. :D :D :D

Hey, don't worry about offending us. As long as you put it in terms of it not being the chapter for you, not, "They were all ugly and mean and I hate them," we won't hold anything against you! We all know that different orgs are right for different people, and even that some of our chapters are stronger than others.

You're right SigKapSundevil, she will be visiting the BEST sorority tomorrow ;) JK Anyway, I began my long stretch as the water server today :( you'd think after 4 years it would be exciting, and in a way it is, but it's still hard when you really really want to join a conversation and just aren't able to because you're old.

Ok, now back to the regularly scheduled topic...curly girly got some good advice to write your gut instinct, I used smiley faces, which is a good way to help you remember your (initial) feel for the chapter as the week wears on. At any rate, hope things continue to go so well for you!!

Honestly, all of the chapters there are outstanding! Don't worry a bit about posting your honest opinions, you're looking for a home for you for a lifetime. What's right for you, that's all that's important now! And like Fuzzie mentioned, as long as you preface your comments in that manner there's no way you could offend any of us!

Hope tomorrow is just as wonderful as it sounds like your today has been. Can't wait to hear all about it!

Just an observation, there seems to be a lot of sorority members/rushees at UF (and UCF, for that matter) this year! Last year the big one was Bama, wasn't it? There were 3 or 4 of them going through!

In any case, I am really excited about this thread! And don't worry... UF56, the frankness and tactful honesty you're showing isn't offending anybody at all! :) I can't wait to read on.

I, for one, will be checking back at normal intervals!

I think all the PNMs from Florida are merely a coincidence. I don't know how they found out about GC, except for the one I told.

Okay I saw where people wanted to know what we are wearing. Well today I wore a Denim sundress from GAP and a pair of straw slides from Nine West. Tomorrow I will most likely be wearing a knee length denim skirt from Ralph Lauren and a white short sleeved top from Express with the same shoes or brown leather reefs. There was so much variety in the dress today. Some wore capri pants, others sun dresses, some casual skirts and tanks but I saw two girls in tube top dresses that went down to there calves with heels on. It was like they were dressed for round three, seemed kind of strange to me. Also one of our Pi Chi's slipped today and revealed her affliation. That was kind of funny but not everyone caught only some of us did. ;)

I gotta agree with SigKapSundevil, PhiMuNursie, and KDHoney - you will be visiting the best sorority tomorrow ;) (along with many other wonderful houses!) Have fun! :)

UF 56 - I think that it's interesting that you and Curlygirl are in the same group. Just think, if you joined the same house...you would already have 3 things in common...GC, Recruitment Group, and a Sisterhood. Good luck with the second round. It sounds like you will be very busy tomorrow. Please keep us posted. There are many of us who are addicted to the rush stories and are eager to find out more about your experience.

Getting ready to go back for the last part of round one. But this morning I went to AEPhi, ADPi, Phi MU, ZTA and Tri-Delt.

Okay here are the breakdowns:

The girls at AEPhi were really nice and sweet but I didnt feel like I fit in there.

The girls at ADPi were also super nice and super sweet and I really like it there. I could definitely see myself there.

Phi Mu was wonderful. The girls were super sweet and *real*. I had a wonderful conversation with the three girls, saw a girl from home and saw PhimuNursie holding the water tray. I wanted to say "hi from a GCer" but was unable to get it in.

I absolutely loved Tri-Delt and ZTA!!!!

So a recap of now I am in love with Tri-Delt, DG, ZTA, AOPi and ADPi. I also really like Phi Mu, AXO, & KKG.

Forgot one, I really like Chi O too!!

I saw you today!! I really wanted to say hello and at least let you know I knew it was you, but I'm not allowed to say more than hi and thank you. That's what happens when you're an old alumna serving water. :) Anyway, cute outfit and I'm glad you had fun at your parties this morning! You looked like you were having fun, I hope it keeps up for you.

Here's my udate:

I really liked KD a lot. Very nice and sweet, made me feel homey. At SK I talked to two girls who were very nice and saw Dale. We then went to DPhiE and the girls there were also nice but I dont think that I really felt comfortable there. We then went to Theta and they messed up their pop up skit and we all started laughing nonstop. I really made it a relaxing time. On another note I was unable to get my grade situation fixed and am very worried because I really like ADPi and Theta and know that both will cut because they have the wrong GPA and not the right one!!! :( :(
I also worried the Tri-Delt and ZTA do grade cuts to. I am so scared because Tri-Delt is one of my favorites and the minute I walked in I just felt like this is a place for me.

Thanks for updating us! Glad you're lovin' KD, but it sounds like your having a good time overall!

I'm sorry, what was your GPA again?

It's listed as a 2.43 because I took some classes this summer and was supposed to a W in a class because I took on too many credits for the summer (15). So this class is listed as an E when it is supposed to be a W. But if it were a W my GPA would be a 3.01. BIG DIFFERENCE!!!
