Recruitment 2002
It's that time again, and I'm sure we would all LOVE to hear about how wonderfully our Alpha Phi chapters are doing with this year's recruitment. Let us know how your recruitment is going, how many new members you have, and anything else about your recruitment this year.
If you are a new member of Alpha Phi, let us know so we can welcome you to our wonderful sisterhood! It would be so much fun if some of the PNMs posting their rush stories go A Phi! I will be helping the DePaul chapter with recruitment this year, but it isn't until September. Of course, I will let you all know how it goes! |
At St. Mary's University we have deferred recruitment. :( There is still another semester to go. I look forward to finding out how other chapters do though!! :)
|
I got two chapter results so far:
Kettering made quota (which I think was 6) Washburn made quota ( which was 7 - they have had declingin quota the last few years. Women used to rush for housing but then they built nice new dorms and not as many women are interested in rushing.) So far APhi is 2 for 2! I will post more as soon as I get the results! |
Texas Tech's recruitment begins in earnest today (Monday the 19th). Last night was an open house walk-around, where the PNM's toured each house. Active members were not present, only alumnae.
I will keep you in the know. |
I am rooting for Gamma Beta at UCSB and Epsilon Chi at Cal Poly SLO. I am a GB alum and my (real) little sister Alexis is the VP Recruitment at EC. She's getting a little nervous but their chapters rocks so I am sure they will be fine!
It will be a weird experience having to miss out this year - I was so heavily involved for 3 years and now nothing! We grew so much in the three years I was there (thanks somewhat in part to Laura D. :) ) so I can't wait to see how much they ROCK this year. I am actually shadowing the UCSB Greek Advisor for the week in the office and during walk-arounds, because I will be supervising my first NPC recruitment at UC Santa Cruz this year. I have to thus disaffiliate like a Rho Chi (no pref night!) but I get to show up on Bid Day!!! I will also be present at SLO's bid matching to support my sister. Laura keep us posted on the CA chapters!!! Delia:cool: |
Hooray for all the Alpha Phis helping with recruitment! One of the nearby colleges will hold recruitment in September; the other school holds only spring recruitment. I'll keep you posted on the results, unless lauradav beats me to it first! :)
|
I will do my best to keep everyone posted (b/w Stacey and I we should be able to keep you up to speed on results across the country).
Delia, have fun at UCSB. I have a feeling there are great things in store for them this year. I had no idea that your sister was VPMR at Epsilon Chi this year. Was she at regional conference? RC was so large this year that I didn't get to know everyone as well as I would have liked but I think that Lindsay would have noticed and said something. Anyway, good luck to all of our chapters! Laura |
Hi ladies,
Just wanted to let you know that Colorado School of Mines made quota (7) this year. Yea Iota Zeta! Laura |
APhiGal posted in another thread that so far Alpha Phi was 8 for 8 at making quota and that we had pledged quota at the following schools: Kettering. Washburn, Idaho, Washington State, Missouri, Texas Tech, Iowa State and one other school she couldn't remember. The only other school I have heard about so far is Oklahoma City University. They pledged quota + 2 (24+2=26) fabulous new members!
Way to go all you stellar A Phi chapters! Laura |
Laura -
Lindsay knew that my sister was VPMR; we were joking about the Rau dynasty that we were building on the central coast. She was at regional conference this year - if you saw her you would laugh because we look so much alike. Are you helping out at Santa Barbara or Cal Poly at all this year? I don't know if you heard or not but SB lost skit day :( and replaced it with a 'theme' day. Go figure! |
More rush results hot from the presses (sorry I've been a little lax in reporting):
University of Missouri (Omicron) matched quota of 65 and had a very successful rush! University of Nebraska Lincoln (Nu) matched quota +3 for a total of 40 new members. Super job! University of Arizona (Beta Epsilon) matched quota of 57!!!! and Lafayette College (Eta Sigma) matched quota of 19 and has already COB'd 5 for a new member class of 24. Way to go ladies! I'll have more results this afternoon. Laura |
Thank you Laura for the updates. :)
WTG A-Phi's!! |
Thanks Laura!
I love reading these updates because it makes me so happy and proud to know how well my sisters are doing all over the country. :) |

Here's an update we just got from our PNW CMC this morning to help satisfy the hunger...and she's right--THE WEST IS BEST!

In progress: Beta Theta/UBC - These women are doing fabulous and got back all the women they wanted to their first invitational round including the Student Council President. Way to go Beta Theta! Epsilon Rho/UC Davis - For round two they only had 3 women regret them. They invited back 186 and 183 accepted. Keep up the great work Davis! Competed results: Beta Zeta/Idaho: Quota 25; Matched 25 Beta Rho deuteron/ Washington State: Quota 28; Matched 31 Lambda/UC Berkeley: Quota 25; Matched 27 Chi/ Montana: Return size ; Quota 15; Matched 16 Theta Upsilon/Chico: Quota 23; Matched 26 Beta Psi/San Jose: Quota 19; Matched 20 So far we have 221 new members in the PNW with 9 schools completed and 8 more to go this fall. Next up: Beta Eta/ Manitoba, Theta Alpha/Linfield, Beta Upsilon/ Oregon State and Eta Psi/Eastern Washington (**many of these chapters were not quite at total before rush, allowing them to take over quota--and they are now well over total because of it!:D ) |
YAY UCSB!
Hot of the Press:
In speaking with an alum. friend of mine who was at UCSB for bid matching: Only four of 10 houses made quota of 31 - ALPHA PHI, AXO, ADPi and KKG. The exact numbers haven't been figured out yet (Laura maybe you can help?) But I think they rushed 2 or 3 on the campus - Which is HUGE for us. I am so proud of the girls - my little sis was the rush chair!!! Now, on to Cal Poly SLO! |
Yes, as Delia stated, UCSB (Gamma Beta) did AWESOME! They have a spectacular new member class of 31. Yippeee!!
UCLA (Beta Delta) also had bid day today and pledged quota + 4 for 27 oustanding new members. A big BRAVO goes out to my chapter (not that I'm partial or anything). Way to go Southwest Region. I only have a few schools left this weekend: UCI, Pepperdine, Cal Poly SLO, and San Bernardino. Then it's COB time ladies... LD |
Beta Theta
Sorry for crashing your board, but .... I just wanted to share with you know just how much your Beta Theta chapter here at UBC has grown and prospered in just the past few years :D ... after a number of years with member numbers dwindling to under 8 members, your APhi sisters have really come together in the past couple of years (with the support of their amazing alumni) and have cultivated a wonderful sisterhood! This year, they are returning 16 or 17 very active members and from what I hear, did an AMAZING job throughout recruitment these past 11 days !! Though I don't know the numbers yet (the girls come through the doors at around noon today), I do know that UBC Panhellenic community has been very impressed with APhi's growth as a chapter over the past while. Way to go Beta Theta!!!
I have come to truly respect your A Phi sisterhood, due in large part both from your members here on GC, and also based on how Beta Theta has carried themselves over the past several years, regardless of numbers - it has always been about the quality of their new members, not the quantity. I wish Beta Theta and all of your A Phi chapters only the very best during recruitment and in the upcoming year!! Panhellenically, ~ Jennifer :) Alpha Gamma Delta - Delta Zeta chapter '97 University of British Columbia Ps - Go SYRACUSE TRIAD!!!! |
... and this JUST IN!!! ...
Beta Theta at UBC essentially DOUBLED IN SIZE this morning as they proudly welcomed 15 new sisters!!! As a recent alumna of the UBC, congratulations on behalf of myself and my chapter ~ the whole greek community is sooooo happy for your chapter! Quote:
Fraternally, ~ Jennifer (alumna) AGD - DZ '97 UBC |
I just LUUUUUUUV those BETA THETA GIRLS! Every time I get to see them they make me :D :D :D
So glad to hear they got 15 new members! |
Congrats to all the chapters so far! We here at Creighton don't have formal recruitment until the spring, but our chapter has COB'ed 3 amazing new Phi girls!
The report so far from our Internationals is that 90% of the chapters that have completed recruitment so far have reached quota!:) |
Laura... any final recruitment reports????
