You guys have all been begging for more rush stories to read, so I figured i'd share mine with you as it unfolds.
I will be rushing at the University of Tennessee. It starts in 2 days. (Saturday the 17th) I am getting very excited. We have 14 NPC sororities at UT so there will be a lot to choose from.

Good luck, I can't wait to heart about your recruitment experiences!
Remember everything you've read here about keeping an open mind, it'll be your best asset during rush. Listen to your heart and it will lead you to the right place. Oh, and wear comfortable shoes, you won't be able to hear what your heart is saying if your feet are screaming in pain.

OK, as a UT and Pi Phi alumna who still lives in Knoxville, I admit I have a favorite here. :D

One of my roommates from last year is a ZTA. (I went to UT for the past 2 years.) She had a wonderful experience going through rush! All the sororities at UT are wonderful and I wish you the bestest of luck!!!!! :D

I always get confused when I see UT because I expect it to be UT Austin! He he!

I realize you are not at the Texas UT....

Best of luck. Rest up, drink lots of water and remember to eat! Rush is tiring but fun!

Hi Brookie,

The most important thing is to have fun and find a place that you feel comfortable in. We all find our "favorites", and sometimes they will cut you, but in the end, the right place for you will definitely stand out of the crowd.

Enjoy the experience, it will be a blast!!!!

Best of luck to you! Dress comfortably, I don't know how warm it is up there, but if it's anything like what our PNM's will be going through, I feel for ya! So many chapters can be overwhelming, but follow your heart...and have fun!

I have a Phi Mu castle...

To say it's warm is an understatement. And the higher you go in the Panhellenic Building, the hotter it gets.

Now only 1 1/2 days left till recruitment begins!!

I am even more excited than I was 5 minutes ago. I am still in a frenzy making last minute decisions on what to wear and things like that. I got my hair trimmed and my eyebrows waxed today. Tommorrow is my day for a manicure. After all, I don't want to meet my future sisters looking all yucky.

Thank you all for all of your well wishes. I appreciate all of the encouragement. I hope to be posting on here in a couple of weeks as a proud new member of a very special sorority. I truly do have an open mind going into this so I hope all will go well.

Any last minute beauty or fashion advice?

Take a powder compact to blot away the shine. Trust me, you will be "glowing," as Southern girls do.

I see Phi Mu is on the list... so of course I am just a tad biased ;)

Bring comfortable shoes to wear between parties if you have long walks to make.... don't wear a watch.... don't wear perfume. I'm sure you've read the GC advice already though!

I look forward to your recruitment story! As for beauty advice, Clinique is in the middle of Gift, which means perfect purse size samples! ;)

I actually KNOW one girl in a soro at UT! She loves it there and said the houses are all wonderful!

Heheh - I know!!! I love Knoxvegas! Wish I were going back, but that's okay. I'll be visiting next weekend, so it should be fun.

I went to the first day of sorority recruitment at the University of Tennessee yesterday. The day consisted of an orientation and then open house. During open house we were able to visit all 14 NPC sororities on the campus for 10 minutes each. I met my Gamma Chi and she was wonderful! I loved the women from all sororities I met, however out of the 14 there were 9 I liked better than others and 2 out of that 9 that I liked most of all. This however was just from a first impression, so my views may change as the week goes on. There were some very nice girls in my Gamma Chi group and I really enjoyed talking with them. Overall, the first day was wonderful. It was less stressful than I expected, but more tiring.

Now, here in a couple of hours I will go back and see how many invitations I get back for round 1. We can accept up to 10. Round 1 is on Monday and Tuesday, and of course I am very excited. I will keep you posted later this evening.

Be careful not to make up your mind too early. That first day at UT is a whirlwind. Tomorrow, you get to sit down and talk to the actives. Don't pin your hopes on two chapters. Remember to be open to all the possibilities. Now, get back on here and let us know where you'll be going for Round I!
