So excited!

I'm moving into my room on Friday, and Rush starts in only 12 days for me, but of course that seems like FOREVER!! I'm getting soooo excited! Any thing I should have packed that I might be forgetting, for dorm, or for rush? I'm just so jittery I'm afraid I'll miss something vital like my pref dress or something.

HeavenslilAngel 08-14-2002 11:46 PM

Hey Justhey!

Good luck with rush! Where are you rushing and what GLO's are there? As everyone says go with where you feel comfortable and prepare early to prevent forgetting things.

mmcat 08-15-2002 12:01 AM

have a ball

keep a smile and your heart open...
and lots of good stuff can come.
lol.

valkyrie 08-15-2002 12:46 AM

I'm guessing that you are SUPER prepared and aren't forgetting anything!

We are all eagerly awaiting your rush story -- please keep us posted, and we want DETAILS!!! Have fun, and good luck!!

I saw an ASA sticker on a car the other day, if it makes you feel any better. :)

AOIIalum 08-15-2002 12:04 PM

Best of luck, justhey! You're going to have a great week with four wonderful sororities to choose from. Please keep us posted, all the stories are so exciting!

Buy an all white dress. I know that many houses have a ceremony where you must where all white(nylons, etc). ASA doesn't allow any color on the dress. When I joined ASA I had three days to get a dress bc we had a special NM initiation (not the same as our initiation into ASA). Anyway all of us new girls scrambled to find dresses since is was after Labor Day.
Of course I don't know what house you'll get in, but I'm sure you'll get a bid. Plus a lot of summer clothes including whites are on sale. Buy one now This way you don't have to worry about this later. Of course I can't promise you that you'll get a bid in a house, but you seem to have such enthusiasm i don't see why a house wouldn't want you!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!
:D
And even if you don't join ASA, the other houses will have ceremonies once you complete your pledgeship. But those girls can better tell you what you should wear.

I was about to mention the white dress, too! I'm an alum of NSU and when I was there all the chapters used whites for cermonials, so I'm assuming they still do!

I'm so excited for you going through recruitment...I know from your posts that you are so excited about greek life and will make an excellent addition to any chapter at NSU!

GOOD LUCK and keep us posted!

Alphsiglana-O Thank God someone is actually going to a school with an ASA chapter. I was beginning to feel my sorority didn't exist!!!!

LOL!:D I know what you mean. I thought I was the only AXO in this area for YEARS!

AlphaSigLana 08-15-2002 02:51 PM

Justamom, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I love reading people's rush stories and for once I'd like to hear people talk about going to ASA rush parties. ASA isn't in the West Coast so many girls haven't heard of us so sometimes I wonder if being a small chapter makes ASA not as appealing as the other chapters?:(

HeavenslilAngel 08-15-2002 04:40 PM

YAY Ya'll have an ASA chapter. I agree with Lana I was beginning to feel the same way. We have all the sororities you just mentioned om our campus except we have Phi Mu instead of Delta Zeta and I also go to "NSU" just not the same one you go to. I just found that cool lol. Anyway, as I said before Good Luck! Keep us posted!

justhey76 08-16-2002 04:26 PM

I'm leaving in a few short hours!!!! I'm a little nervous about what my parents are going to say when they see that I am living on a greek floor (See "Parents have a negative image of greeks" thread), but its not even my fault! I was just placed there. Ok, take a deep breath...

LeslieAGD 08-16-2002 04:57 PM

Good Luck! Have fun moving in and getting pumped for Recruitment! :)

33girl 08-16-2002 05:12 PM

good luck, justhey, and have a blast!! :D :D :D

MoxieGrrl 08-16-2002 07:01 PM

justhey76: Good luck!! Rushing at a small school is just as exciting as if you were going through 14 different houses! Forgive me, but where/what school is NSU? I'm so confused inside! :)

**Side note** Heavenslilangel: I never knew you were an ASA!!??!! Congrats!!

HeavenslilAngel 08-17-2002 01:14 AM

Moxie girl/anyone that was following my sorority colonization--- sorry for not updating. We (my local sorority) colonized with Alpha Sigma Alpha on March 3, 2002. :) Not to brag, but I'm a founding member of my chapter and I really love and am very very proud to be an ASA! We get our charter in late october and I'm so excited. Our rush starts tuesday and ends saturday. I'm kinda nervous because I've never been on a potential new member in formal rush or a rusher or a rho alpha (what we call rho chi's) but yeah and i'm 6 hours away from being a senior so lots of exciting things going on in my life. :) Thanks for asking about me :D

GPhiBLtColonel 08-17-2002 03:27 AM

I am confused too...

...where/what is NSU and what is the "other" NSU?

Good idea to get a white dress now -- though it was AGES ago and at Southern Cal -- we wore white too as brand new pledges -- we called it 'Presents' (pronounced Pree - zents) -- I am feeling youthful again? I just love all these rush stories!

justhey76 08-19-2002 02:47 PM

Hehe, sorry it has been so long, I just started my first day of classes, and there is only one week exactly til rush starts. NSU is Northeastern State University, and it is in Oklahoma, in the northeastern part, of course!! Yeah, it is funny that you guys said that Alpha Sigma Alpha is not very known, because from what I can see, it seems to be a pretty popular chapter here!!! Anyways, Ill be back next monday to tell you guys how rush is going!!!!

sailboatgirl 08-19-2002 03:31 PM

I was just sitting here wondering how her dorm move-in and first day of school were going! I'm addicted to ALL the rush threads, but it's neat to see someone going to my alma mater!

Best of luck to you justhey76!
