A&A's Family Member's Rush Story!!!
 

Okay... This will be the post for my cousin's rush story. Tomorrow is water party day!

She is attending Miss State Univ. There are six sororities...

All the chapters are strong...(example... MS State's Delta Gamma chapter has won the Patrica Peterson Danielson award more times then any other Delta Gamma Chapter). Pre-rush membership numbers range between 110 and 140. Quota for the last several years has been in the 70s, putting most chapters over 200, after fall recruitment.

She is very excited... and is keeping an open mind. I will let you know how water day is tomorrow night... Rush ends on Bid Day Friday.

IvySpice-- I agree. I looked at their webpages and thought they were an ad for a beauty pageant!!! NO FAIR!!! LOL
They seem to have a really srong Greek system which is awesome!
I would be proud to be a member of any one of those houses.

I am so excited to hear another recruitment story. All of this is getting me excited for mine coming up! Wish your cousin good luck and I really do hope that she has a great and positive recruitment experience (I have read sooo many bad experiences here….it’s been getting me kind of scared since I too am new to the Greek system of things). Keep us informed! I can only hope the best for her! :)

Day 1... Water Day...

We (she) visited six houses...

I am going to keep everything in alphabetical order... As they were all the same and I would not want someone to put two-and-two together and figure out who she is/offend anyone, etc...

All the houses were smiling, fun, lots of spirit... At each house the president and/or rush chair spoke... greating all the PNMs, welcoming them to MSU and to recruitment. They also got a tour at each house. She said there was little difference in the structure of each party. Everyone was really nice and conversations were wonderful at each house... I would not say she has picked a favorite, but there are a few that she felt extra special at!!!

At two of the houses (that she really was impressed with and likes) the president and/or membership/rush chairman introduced themselves and said they had heard a lot of wonderful things about her... which of course put a little pip in her party/day...

The six houses at MSU and the parties she attended today are:

Zeta Tau Alpha

She gets her invitations back tomorrow morning and may be invited to a max of six parties... she can attend five.

I will try to post in the morning where she is going... However, I might not have computer access again until LATE Wednesday night... Unless I can get Carnation to post for me... "cough, cough" :D

Today is Philanthropy Day (5 parties)

She is going to:

Hey, she's going to have a fine time at those 5 sororities! She's coming through rush just fine at one of the "Greekest" schools around!

Angels&Arrows just called to say that she still hasn't heard from her cousin about which parties she'll be attending today. As soon as she hears, she'll let us know.

Angels&Arrows won't be near her computer until tonight but she called to say that her cousin is returning to KD, Phi Mu, and Tri Delt. Their parties won't be until 4 today because computer glitches postponed their getting invitations until 7 this morning.

Posting this late Wednesday night!

Today was Skit Day (three party day)

As Carnation said she went to DDD, KD and Phi Mu.

She said that there was not much talking, the PNMs were lead through the houses (which were all decorated and dark, until you got to the main rooms). The skits were great and she enjoyed the parties. She will not get invitations for Pref Party/2 party day (which is tomorrow night or Thursday night) until 11:30am CT.

I will let you know as soon as I know where she is going to pref. However, as I have been doing all along, I will not say who she cut, or who cut her... She went into rush with an open mind... though very interested in two groups... not to jinx it... I will wait until tomorrow!!

She has really enjoyed Rush, but is very ready for the pressure to be over with and can not wait until bid day Friday. All of her friends seem to be enjoying themselves, and getting invtied to the parties they also were interested in!

Angels&Arrows I can't wait to hear where she goes! I love rush threads! Especially when they're going to KD :D

I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to hear a story about someone who ends up going KD! Of course I'm happy if they're happy, but i really want a KD :D

I'm sure most everyone else on here wishes the same. Who wouldn't want to hear a fabulous story about someone rushing and joining your org? :D

We (she) are going to Phi Mu and KD!!!!!!!!!!! These have been her first choices since (well, according to my aunt even before) rush began... She apparently has been pointing out the KD and Phi Mu houses to our family, telling us/them what wonderful, intelligent, outgoing, down-to-earth, involved young ladies were apart of those organizations since she first started touring college campuses (and looking hard at Miss State)... Needless to say my family is happier for her, than a dead pig in the sunshine!

JAM you want meat!!! Just for you... but I will remain respectful of all organizations and only say how she felt... and she would never say anything bad about an organization!

Chi Omega -- Very nice girls; doctors, lawyers and CEOs daughters; very deep southern roots in Mississippi and a lot of legacies ( I mean a lot)! Great house... maybe not the best fit for her.

Delta Delta Delta -- Nice girls, fun. Cute skit. Good house.

Delta Gamma -- humm.. Great house... lots of campus involvement, cheerleaders, SGA, Homecoming court... for some reason had a hard time remembering PNMs names (even though they had name tags).. A problem many PNMs expressed even on Day 3! Maybe a little turned off by what seemed to be less enthusiasm for recruitment, then the other five sororities.

Kappa Delta -- Love! Very nice girls, outgoing, intelligent, fun, sweet, beautiful (inside and out), great house all around... The president came up to her everyday of rush... (Really made the parties extra special)

Phi Mu -- Love! Very nice girls; again outgoing, intelligent, beautiful, great house... President, rush chair, etc... Introduced themselves, asked how she was enjoying rush.. made her day!

Zeta Tau Alpha -- nice girls, good house.

Please forgive my poor spelling and grammar... I am in a bit of a rush.. (no pun intended)

Bids are handed out tomorrow at 11:30am CT... I am not sure when we will here from her though... I hope to post by tomorrow-late afternoon!

OMG I am SOOOOOO excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I absolutely cannot wait to find out where she goes!

It sure sounds like she'll have a tough choice in the rankings, but regardless if she goes KD or Phi Mu i'm sure she'll do great. (But i do have to pull for KD! hehehe)

I will be checking ALL day tomorrow to find out where she goes. Thank god i work on a computer all day!

Wow, this is so exciting. It sounds like she had a great experience so far. I cannot wait until we hear about her Preference Parties. (I totally adore preference, well I adore Rush to be truthful.)

yay for Phi Mu! i admit, i absolutely love it when i hear about people liking Phi Mu! Whatever house she ends up with, be it either Phi Mu Or Kappa Delta, I know she will will love it, and both houses would gain a lot by having her as a member. I can't wait to find out where she ends up!

THANK YOU FOR THE SCOOP! I think we all know that chapters vary from campus to campus as much as we know there are thing that may be meaningful to one and unimportant to another.

I think it's interesting and it could be beneficial for people to know the reactions of the PNMs.

I have to agree-I'm on pins and needles waiing to hear about her pref parties. What I want to know (since she like BOTH so much) is what really swayed her and made the difference!
