Michael Jackson's the King of Pop, but ...

Who is the king of R&B?

I personally I think it's R. Kelly.

Also, who is the Queen?

oneinamillion 08-11-2002 01:01 PM

king??? but Queen!!!!

I would think that the queen is Whitney Houston, even though she used to cross over when she first came out. She always especially now swing the R&B way. She has a new single out call "whatcha' looking at" I haven't heard much hoopla about it. But to me Whitney will always be #1, despite her collission with drugs in the past.
Mary is the queen of hip-hop.
Aretha is the queen of soul.

BAS'Y!!!!! (That's basically for short for you squares!) :p :D But for real though, to me, the R&B king is Rra. I think that he's a very talented artist who has a sexual fetish/problem. But you must remember that this is what makes him HUMAN at the end of the day. JMHO.... I think the queen of R&B has already been stated previously, so I won't list who I think it is. Oh BTW, don't you mean "Michelle" Jackson is the "Queen" of Pop? :D Like I said before, he was born a Black man and will die a White woman!!!:p

I dunno lli.....

There's a difference between a fetish that makes you human, and one that makes you a child molester.

As far as the king of r&B, for me it will ALWAYS be LUFFA!!!!!

Fat Luffa at that.

LOL @Fat Luffa!!:D But you're right b/c for some reason I don't like to look at Mr. Vandross too much after he gets skinny from one of those diets.

RedefinedDiva, I'm not fronting on Mike. I'm just stating a well known and easily observable truth. When you look at "Michelle," (s)he looks like a WHITE WOMAN!!! I'm still wondering if (s)he was really going for that look..... :p

oneinamillion 08-17-2002 12:36 AM

Do you mean a old BROKE white woman................lil_sunshine:D :D :D :D

BEYONCE!!! :D Saw her performance at the Essence Festival. I don't care what anybody says, but ol' girl is a force to be reckoned with. So there. Hmph!

whiteandblack 07-11-2007 09:41 AM

michael will always and forever be the king of pop. the queen? o.k., I'll agree with beyonce.

ChanelLover 07-11-2007 03:08 PM

I was so going to argue with whoever put Beyonce down as the Quenn, but then I realized it said Pop so I was like okay. I think that she is a nice entertainer an all, but I'm just not feeling her voice. Put her up against Tamia or Jill Scott, and she will get blown out of the water.

BTW: Have any of you heard her cover He Loves Me- I like the girl, but she straight butchered that song.

tld221 07-11-2007 03:19 PM

wait - B covered "He Loves Me?"

: dead :

hmm, see people have been saying Rra is the king of R&B for YEARS and i think ppl wil continue to say that for years. will that hold true for B? prolly not. she'll have her reign, and then we will move on. i'm sure ppl said the same abuot Mariah Carey and Britney Spears, for example, and look how they ended up.

AKA2D '91 07-11-2007 03:33 PM

Yes. She covers it in her show. You can find video of it on youtube. She holds her own, BUT I prefer Jilly. You know Jilly goes all operatic (is that a word?) with hers. LOL :D

lovelyivy84 07-11-2007 09:25 PM

Well that's the thing about pop- it's recyclable, and rarely about long careers (exception: Madonna). Pop is about youth and once you're not the new, young thing pop doesn't apply.

Except for MJ in the 70's and 80's. Just raw talent.

Damn shame.

And I stand by my statement: R. Kelly= child molester

And to add to that, once they age, get married, and have kids...it's the beginning of the end. Watch out Usher! :o You SURE you wanna do it? LOL
