Famous People you've met

Okay, I started thinking about this and don't remember seeing a thread about it but what famouse people have you met and what were they like?

I am actually friends with Kid from Kid N Play (think house party!) he is really really nice and every time he is in town we hang out.
He is doing comedy now and is really funny.

I know Nicole from Eden's Crush (the girl group made on WB) she and I went to a performing arts high school together and took dance and vocal together... by the way she is super Nice! But I haven't talked to her since high school!

I had Jeffrey Wigand as my chemistry teacher sophomore year. He is the guy the movie "The Insider" is about. He actually gave me three college recommendations and gave me perfect scores on them. He taught me a lot about science which is my least favorite subject!

Other than that i have met 98 Degrees (they are so hot in person, but short!) Kevin and Brian of Backstreet Boys, Joey and Justin of N Sync (Joey was trashed!) Melissa Joan Hart, Jessica Simpson and Jerry O Connell and I took shots together.

You should come to Louisville during Derby weekend cause there are celebs everywhere!

PotentialPledge 08-07-2002 10:39 PM

I met Chris Tucker at my job. I also gave a tour of dc to the guy from Spin City.

Starlet 08-08-2002 12:17 AM

Here's an old thread about this topic:

http://greekchat.com/gcforums/showth...=famous+people

But to put my two cents in now...

I've met Scott Speedman, a.k.a. formerly Ben from Felicity, the band Lifehouse, and Nathan from Real World Seattle. During my internship, I had to hail a cab for Barbara Walters once, and I saw Leeza Gibbons at Venice Beach and stood next to Lauren Bacall at Farmer's Market in CA.

Rudey 08-08-2002 12:20 AM

Oh yeah

Yeah I had sex with Cindy Crawford and Britney Spears. Britney was nowhere as good as Rebecca Romijn. I will never call her Romijn-Stamos though because uncle Jesse is only married to my leftovers.

DeltAlum 08-08-2002 03:04 AM

Well Rudey, that one's pretty hard to follow.

Over the course of a long TV directing career, I've met a few fairly famous people, including politicians, entertainers, corporate executives and sports types.

Probably the most famous overall was Bob Hope. The most down to earth (cue the laughter) was Dick Clark. The most recent was Willy Nelson.

Of all of them, I think the athletes were (with some notable exceptions) the most unimpressive. In televising sports, the most impressive commentator type was Bob Costas -- unbelievable memory.

The smartest (this is obviously subjective and my own opinion), and also the scariest was Jack Welch, former CEO of GE.

I'll probably think of others who made an impression later.

chioangel83 08-08-2002 03:48 AM

I've met Cuba Gooding Jr, Matthew and Joey Lawrence, Denise Richardson and James Marsden all while at work.

Kris Kristofferson...his son and I played in a tennis tournament together.

George Harrison...he had a house in a town near mine.

Magic Johnson....at the beach once. He used to teach a basketball camp an hour from my house and he had a house there too.

aggieAXO 08-08-2002 04:05 AM

I don't know if anyone watches wrestling or not (I don't). I recently had the pleasure of taking care of "the undertakers" mastiff who had heatstroked. My receptionist quickly informed me that he wrestles with the rock and stone cold steve austin. Very nice guy, I can;t believe he plays a mean character.

My roommate in college dated a guy that lived with Henry Thomas (ET phone home). He was very nice/quiet/down to earth.

moe.ron 08-08-2002 07:51 AM

In my previous life, I was the strategist for Genghis Khan.

justamom 08-08-2002 08:31 AM

Robert (La Fong) Wuhl-We went to U of H together. He was my Hubby's roommate or a while. The old gang gets together every year for golf and he has made it back a few times. We know him WELL! Could probably sell a few stories to the National Enquirer!

I probably posted this before-
John David Souther-I have pictures! ;) singer/songwriter/actor of the '70s and 80's

Bob Dole:D

David Duke:mad:

AOX81 08-08-2002 09:05 AM

I've never met any famous people. :( Yep, I suck.

librasoul22 08-08-2002 09:49 AM

Hmmm...

I have met The Rock, VERY nice, personable and down-to-earth. Ummm..kinda cute too! ;) Actually I met a whole bunch of wrestlers, working out at Gold's Gym, but he was the only one I recognized or really wanted to talk to.

I have met the rapper Jadakiss, he is cool too.

Atheletes, I have met WAY too many to mention, I go to a football school. I agree with DeltAlum, the athletes really are pretty unimpressive. Even in college they walk around like someone needs to roll the red carpet out for them...um, no. When you ignore them or kinda brush them off, they are like, "Do you know who I am?" The question is "Do I care?"

Working at a music store for 3 years I met a lot of semi-famous bands and acts. Word to the wise, if any band member ever asks you to come see their tour bus, say NO! Myself and a male co-worker went onto the tourbus for a not-even-famous R&B group and let's just say that my eyes will never be the same, lol.

wvapogirl 08-08-2002 10:09 AM

aggieAXO has met the Undertaker...
librasoul22 has met the Rock...

I AM SO JEALOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, I am not being sarcastic... I am a huge WWE fan.
(If someone comes on here and says that hey have met Vince McMahon, I'm going to faint.)

BTW, I've heard that most of the WWE wrestlers are nothing like their characters, that they are all very nice, down-to-earth people (maybe with the exception of Kurt Angle, who one of my APO brothers told me that Kurt broke off his engagement w/his fiance right after he won his Olympic gold medals in '96 (the APO brother lived right across the street from the fiance and had met Kurt; said he was an a** to begin with)).

wvapogirl 08-08-2002 10:13 AM

Oh, and I forgot to answer the question at hand...

I haven't met anyone famous, but Mr. wvapo has. He has served dinner to Brad Paisley and Sara Evans. He is also a cousin of John Schnieder (from the Dukes of Hazard; now he is the dad on Smallville).

xok85xo 08-08-2002 10:17 AM

ACEOFDIAMOND 08-08-2002 01:26 PM

I met Kerry Strug who was staying at the same hotel as us in Phoenix a few years ago. I also met Newt Gingrich. And Sinbad happened to be walking right next to us in the airport. He was on his phone and my bf and I are like we know that voice so we turn around and our jaws dropped! One of the girls from Baywatch was on the same plane as me once. I also got to meet the band No Authority and one of the guys from Nine Days.

SigmaChiCard 08-08-2002 01:42 PM

Tara Reid?

I think she's beautiful...was she all dorky, or was she a cool girl? I bet she'd be kind of dorky.

xok85xo 08-08-2002 01:44 PM

actually, to be honest..she was pretty skanky/slutty

AOIIalum 08-08-2002 03:29 PM

I've met Alice Cooper, he came in the Footlocker store I worked in during college. Talk about surreal. I've also met 3 of the 4 members of Cheap Trick at various times before. I am a huge fan of theirs!!!!

For those of you familiar with Kentucky athletics, I met and very briefly spoke to Cawood Ledford once and met former football coach Jerry Claiborne.

Chioangel83, I am truly envious that you met George Harrison.

Christin

ChiOqt 08-08-2002 04:34 PM

I've met Eve 6..me and a couple friends somehow managed to get backstage at the DC101 Chili Cookoff (DC people know what I'm talking about) and we hung out with them a bit. Other than that, I've met Lisa Arce and a lot of other famous Volleyball players at the Atlanta Summer Olympics. And, my cousin is a pro baseball player, he pitches for the San Diego Padres!:D

ksig600 08-08-2002 04:41 PM

I guess you could call them famous...

Recently I met Tech from Real World Hawaii. My brothers and I were going to our cars after initiation, and he was just strolling through our campus on a Sunday afternoon (very strange). We thought he was homeless at first.

I also met Lindsay from Real World Seattle. She is a dj on a radio station here in Atlanta, and is always around town.

Aside from them, I guess I could count my cousin that played for the Chicago Bears years ago.

I haven't met anyone who is super famous! :( I've met some Spanish singing people who are famous in that market, but I do not know how many of you are into Spanish music. :p

Rudey 08-08-2002 05:46 PM

Listen, she's hot, has a sexy voice, is famous, and even slutty. I don't think I could ask for anything else.

queequek 08-08-2002 05:57 PM

I met Tom Green at Hooters Des Moines early this summer. I asked him to sign my menu, and he asked why, and I said because I am Canadian (the first thing came out of my mind), then he signed my menu :D
I think that is cool, I mean, COME ON, Tom Green, in DES MOINES? What the heck was he doing in Des Moines with bunch of skaters?

Couple years ago, one of Baywatch cast married someone from Ames, and had the wedding ceremony at our Memorial Union. So yeah, there were lots of celebrities to meet (including Pamela Anderson ;) )

Also I talked with Harry Connick, Jr. after his concert here in Ames last year. Well, not technically met him (you know, he was in town for concert)

librasoul22 08-08-2002 06:52 PM

Oops...forgot to mention Ludacris. I met him at an afterparty. He is really cool, albeit a little wild. Also shorter than I expected.

texas*princess 08-08-2002 07:23 PM

I LOVE MY JOB!

I worked as a DJ for our campus rock radio station, and I have to say, I don't think I would have met any other famous people if I hadn't done it!

I've met some rock bands like Rob Zombie, Fuel, Sinch, and I met Kittie not too long ago.

edited to include: this has nothing to do with rock, but i met chris cagle when he performed @ our school last spring.. he's hot! :D

lionlove 08-08-2002 09:30 PM

I was on a flight from Boston to Atlanta with James Taylor he was a very nice guy.

I met one of the guys from American Pie at the Cannes Film Festival in France this year. Don't remember which character he played though.

That's all I can think of for now.

LOL! I knew E. Lynn Harris at the U. of Arkansas--when he was only Lynn! He cheered right after I did and we both worked on yearbook!

Hey DeltAlum and justamom-- I met the Lennon Sisters too!

KappaStargirl 08-09-2002 12:09 AM

Hilary Clinton went to my high school, and when I was a senior she was First Lady, and she came to speak. Since I was in the band, we got to play and sit on the stage with her. The security was really something else!

Not famous to all, but my junior year of college I got to meet the Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity Grand President, she came to our province meeting which was being held at her alma mater.

Evelyn Glennie, the percussionist, was very polite when she signed an autograph for me after I saw her in concert in Pittsburgh. I've also met some authors in my career as a librarian: Ron Koertge, Sonya Sones, Theresa Nelson, Don Gallo, and Jean Ferris (they all write teen lit).

KappaStarboy is mildly famous...he was on an episode of "The Golden Girls" when he was a kid. There was an episode where Rose takes Dorothy and Blanche to a kiddie hot-dog restaurant for Dorothy's birthday, and he played one of the kids that was celebrating his birthday that same day (the character's name was Bobby Spina, he had red curly hair...still does :) ). There was an annoying clown in the scene, and Dorothy wanted to smash her cake in his face, but she didn't...that honor went to KSB.

I never believed that he had really done an episode of "The Golden Girls" until I visited his parents house and saw the picture of him with Bea Arthur and Betty White. He told me Betty White is very sweet, and that Estelle Getty thought he was really cute because KSB told her that his grandfather had a crush on her.

Met Alex Haley, author of Roots, in the early 1990s when I was writing for a newspaper in Tennessee. Went to his ranch, very cool fellow.:)

Went to college w/Mark McGwire and interviewed him, but only on the telephone. Went to elementary school with Mark McLemore, a journeyman MLB infielder/outfielder.

Starlet 01-16-2003 07:46 PM

Okay, I'm adding to what I had originally posted. I met Mike and Coral from The Real World New York when they came to my school to do a lecture. Mike was cool and funny, but Coral was moody and not that nice. She complained that people always call her a b*tch because that's how she was portrayed on the show, but she really is one!
