Trading Spaces on TLC

This goes out to everyone, the girl I am seeing is obsessed with Trading Spaces the show. I was wondering if other people are just as obsessed. And what is it about the show, because I dont get it.

DeltaBetaAGD 08-07-2002 06:31 PM

It is fabulous!!! I am a little obsessed with the show...
My husband only watches the last 10 minutes to see the reactions by the homeowners. He loves when people hate it! I think it is funny.:)

Allie 08-07-2002 08:18 PM

EVERYDAY I watch it when I come home from work! :) Then Saturdays during laundry my mom and I watch it together. All in all it is an awesome show.

AKA2D '91 08-07-2002 08:25 PM

My mother is. I must admit, that I find myself watching it even when I'm not home visiting her.

Did anyone catch the show this weekend where they put the "hay" on the wall as "wallpaper"? Man, I wish whenever I get a home that I could have Trading Spaces, the Garden person, the landscaping person come and re-do my home. That is of course if it really, really needed it.

FiReKraCkEr 08-07-2002 09:37 PM

I'm in LOVE with TY!! Even though he's like 35:eek: !!

I absolutely love this show!! I catch myself doing things in my apt that I've seen on the show.

My favorite designer is definatley Vern Yip. I love his classic and Aian inspired designs...

Vern is AWESOME! My fav was the purple room with the giant silver wall clock.

Not only do I love TS, I love the "originals" over on BBC America. I'd watch Changing Rooms and Ground Force and House Invaders reruns all day long if I could.

I love trading spaces!

I'm obsessed too! And I watch changing rooms on bbc too, but I still like trading spaces better! Last year my friends and I would always get together and watch...we were all obsessed! Too bad with work this summer I can't watch during the week,:( I'm just limited to the weekend. As for my favorite designers...I'm definetly a vern and gennevive fan.

DeltaGammaStar 08-07-2002 11:37 PM

Did anyone besides me see the one where they did a Delta Gamma house.....?

DGStar, our whole hall was CROWDED around one TV watching (we have way more than one TV, but it's kinda cool "oohing" and "ahhing" over the anchors and our crest and stuff)

I am also addicted to Trading Spaces, as well as TLC in general. All the girls in my house watch Trading Spaces and TLC's makeover show, dating show, wedding show and baby show religiously. I don't know what it is about it, but it gets you hook, line and sinker.

I love trading spaces! Also since I moved into my new house and we have digital cable I watch HGTV - home and garden TV! Some of the shows are lame but some are good. They also had a suprise garden show (kind of like the new TLC show while you were out) where they redo a backyard for a family. That was kind of neat.

I also like This Old House. Yes I am such a dork!!! I think it's because my dad watched it all the time when I was a kid and we used to help him build stuff at home. My bf hates watching tv with me 'cause I watch all these shows. Okay I am going to stop posting now because I sound like such a nerd. :)

Addicted to Trading Spaces

I love this show!! I did not start watching until the episode where they decorated the DG chapter room and I have been hooked ever since. I am crazy about TY and I can not wait to marry him and have him build us a huge four poster bed! I think all of the designers are great especially Laurie and Frank. :)

I love trading spaces! I feel so bad when the people cry when they see their new digs....so tragic.

I saw that one...I thought it looked really nice. It was more of a warm chocolate color than "poopy brown" and the white accents looked good. The woman was crying because they messed with her fireplace. It's not like it was irreversable, all they had to do was dismantle the wood cover they put over top of it. She should have gotten a different designer if she didn't want her fireplace touched, because Doug always does whatever he wants to no matter what the homeowners say.

HotDamnImAPhiMu, I loved that purple room, too! The fish in the sconces on the walls were so cool.

Ok, here's a question for everyone: Do you like Alex or Paige better? I like Alex better because Paige is so annoying and perky, plus she gets really bitchy with the designers if they're behind and I feel like she's less willing to help than Alex was.

Oh boy, I beg to disagree :) I could not stand Alex as the host of the show. I love Paige's enthusiasm, her apparent concern for the homeowners and the fact that she is willing to get in and get dirty. I never felt like Alex really enjoyed the host job, and has been quoted that she didn't like all the constant travel involved with the show. Toward toward the second half of season one it seemed to me that Alex was just going through the motions. She really didn't come across like she cared about the rooms or the homeowners.

I honestly didn't like too much in season two other than the hosting change. I'm such a dork, I still miss the sunset/sunrise graphic from the 1st season! LOL!

Hmm, I guess our tastes are different:) Also, I didn't hear the explanation about why she was so upset. I just saw the poopy brown (ok, chocolate brown:)) and just thought she as upset about that. Also, I don't think they have any say in who they get as a designer...and yeah, Doug does whatever he wants! Its funny when he argues with the neighbors!!

i saw this episode a few weeks ago, after reading about it on television w/out pity(great website, btw) i actually really liked the room, its one of the few rooms i can say that i've ever really really liked..i felt no sympathy for the woman..especially after they just made their neighbors living room look like walmart's craft section adn a sherwin williams store threw up a la frank's normal design style..they definately changed her neighbors living room a thousand times more/worse then theirs..and when her husband made the comment that nothing in their living room was like they left it..well duh, why they hell did you agree to go on the show in the first place if you didn't want anything changed? so do i have sympathy for crying pam from washington? no way in hell, on top of the fact that shes a hypocrite, she became a total bitch when she showed up at her neighbors house..im sorry but if you aren't prepared for the change then don't go on the show. period. rant over :)
