TLC info
TLC is now back but in the same format of the ACT last year. It is for collegiate officiers (specifically for those listed) and Volunteer Service Team members to work together. Presentations and meetings are held to help each officier with their position. In order to be present at TLC nowadays, you need to be a collegiate officer, collegiate advisor or Volunteer Service Team member. So that is how you can go!
Last year this was very effective for the collegians, advisors and VST. I was present and presented at two of the four last year and had a blast! I am looking forward to 2003! :) |
Area D -- Kansas City? *sigh*
|
I know, Kansas City is not the best but there really is not much time to see the sights! Busy from sun up to sun down. :)
|
Last year, when ACT was held for Area D, it was uncertain whether or not our collegiate officers were going to be able to go because of its distance (Oklahoma, I think?).
I really hope distance doesn't matter this year. |

I don't remember but it seems that we got a break on the hotel rooms in Charlotte for ACT..maybe $75 for whole thing?? It is definitely less expensive than Convention!!
As DB says, there are meetings all the time, so,if you attend what you're supposed to attend;) , you won't see much of whatever town you're in.. Alpharetta has Northpoint Mall nearby..lots of shopping. :D Not sure about any nightlife. |
The registration fee last year was $75.00 per participant. The chapter is responsible for traveling costs and I am not sure what the hotel cost was.
More information will be on the website when available. It will also be mailed out to chapters. |
I suggest we, the Alpharetta girls, go one night and grab dinner or go out so we can bond while we learn!!!
I will definitely be there!!!!! :) I will just pay myself if I need to!! |
just an fyi...you won't have time to go out for dinner as each meal has some type of programming going on during it. You can probably sit together at dinner though! They ususally also keep you going from around8am to 9-9:30pm, plus you may have some individual chapter meetings with the VST afterwards.

Since it takes us at least 5 hours just to get as far as So. California, our members look at almost an entire day of travelling in each direction (stopover/connections included.) We do it for Convention, but Convention is held over the summer... when missing classes isn't as big an issue because most of our members do not attend summer school. We also couldn't afford it. Airfare from Hawaii doesn't come cheap, and unless there just happens to be a fare sale during December/January (heavy travel period, so not likely,) we pay full high season fares. We don't have the bus, train, or car alternatives members who live closer have. While there was no doubt in our minds that ACT had lots to offer our chapter, we just didn't think it was fair to ask us to pay so much money and ask the members to take off time from school to go so far for what is supposed to be a 2 day conference. We were very fortunate to have a Leadership Advisor available to hold our very own ACT.... and because of it... our entire officer team was able to attend. Unfortunately, it looks like the dates are smack in the middle of the semester again... Kentucky is no closer to us than Oklahoma... and this time... we won't have a Leadership Advisor as a back up resource... Ronda graduates in December and will be heading back to Alabama. Can you just see the disappoint on my face right now? :( |
I've never been to TLC, but is there any way IHQ can videotape the presentations? If they provided videotapes that chapters could buy (officer specific), this may help chapters whose officers (one to all) could not attend lectures/presentations geared for their office. This would defer the cost for already low budget chapters, and also bring down the expense AGD has to carry every time they plan these gatherings. I see this service provided by companies for their regional offices, so it would probably work for chapters.
