i really like the way a thread i started was randomly deleted. i asked an innocent question because i didn't know what something was, people got offended and it randomly dissappeared. so much for freedom of speech. :mad:

No one ever said GC was a democracy, hun. ;)

If the thread you're talking about is the one I'm thinking about, then I think your innocent question was answered.

And unfortunately got hijacked by a couple of controversial posters. The delete wasn't because of you, so don't take it personally.

was that the thread before about if you had ever been hazed or whatever? I was wondering what happened to that thread! what were people saying that was so bad it got deleted?

Texas*princess, if you have a problem, maybe you should PM the mod- it's their discretion and decision to remove threads for whatever reason.
Threads don't get deleted for no reason, so if you're truly concerned, ask the mod.

while i understand there are "controversial" posters, I don't understand why just this one was deleted. This entire "Risk Management" forum is full of "controverisal" issues about hazing... drinking.. and whatever else ... and the one i posted got cut?


...just doesn't make sense to me. If that's the case, they should probably cut half the threads on this forum.

Why don't you just e-mail the forum moderator and take the whole thing offline?

But must understand, we as Mods see alot of stuff and have to make the decision to delete!

It is not an easy decision trust me!

Oh OK, I just got the "lightbulb over head" and realized what thread we are talking about...if a rock doesn't fall on my head, a small pebble will do! As hot & heavy as things get around here during rush time it might be best that it was deleted.

However, I haven't seen her around in ages, and I know that it was AlphaGam1019 that deleted it. I asked :)

One thing that newer members may not realize- and longtimers and mods do- is that certain topics or the mention of certain people would be guaranteed to bring out the crazies and/or the flames. There are certain topics that almost any mod will delete right off because he or she knows what will follow and we'd just as soon avoid a nasty mess of hurt feelings or even intervention from national offices.

Some topics have been deleted so quickly that most members probably didn't see them. What DeltAlum said about chronic troublemakers is true too...some people purposely post ugly stuff just to start something.

Another thing is that sometimes the mods turn on their computers and have a flood of "reported posts" from GC. We might get a dozen complaints about a post, see how it could be hurtful, delete it, and then a couple of people start screaming because it was deleted. Usually the GCers who complained about the post don't step up and admit they were one of the complainers so it looks like the mods were the only ones who didn't like it.

GC Moderators take our jobs very seriousally! We discuss the problem posters as they come to us and ask us to check them out!

i have never myself asked for a poster to be taken off without good cause along with all Moderators!

We are not faceless people, well I am as cannot or want to post a pix of me on site! Yall would go oooooooh!:)

John, My Hal as has to be a computor for what he has to keep up with also does not just delete post for grins! He takes the advice of a majority of the Moderators before he deletes some one!
