anyone else exercise regularly???
I exercise every day and I was just wondering how many of you do, also. I have lost 50 pounds in fact. :D Anyways, what kind of exercise do you do?
I vary between exercise videos and jogging. My faorite videos are the Richard Simmons ones (don't laugh, they're really great workouts!), and the Bellydance videos by Neena and Veena Present. |
I do alot of walking. :D

they ARE fun! You really feel the burn too. :D They're very different than your typical workout, but I guess that's why I love them!
|
No exercise for me ever!
I know that I should exercise, but I don't like to do anything but dance. Maybe I'll try the treadmill. |
I love to walk; I normally go to the gym 2-3 times a week; and I love to dance.
|
I run about 6 days a week. 4 nights i go like 2 and a half miles, the other 2 nights i go about a mile and a half.
I just recently started running again after i finished the Corps. A&M has a Corps of Cadets like at VMI or the Citadel. You don't have to be i the Corps to go to A&M though, in fact, out of about 44,000 at A&M the Corps only numbers about 2,000. Anyway, you join when you are a fish, and if you take longer than 4 years to graduate, which some of us do ;) you get to spend your 5th year as a normal student. Anywho, after i finished the Corps, i kinda stopped working out. That, and the combination of being a good brother, and goin to bars with bros that need drinking buddies kinda put some weight on. So thats' what influenced my health kick this summer. Kitso KS 361 |
I go to the gym at least 4 times a week- usually before work. I like to do the treadmill or the aerobic trac.
|
I go to the gym 3 - 4 times a week after work. I usually do some cardio and then lift weights.
|
I go to the gym at least 4 times a week (usually after work). Sometimes I'll take classes (like step or total body conditioning), other times I'll do various cardio machines for about 45 min. to an hour and then do some light weight work. I can't imagine not working out...I feel so much better, besides the various other benefits.
|
Cardio 5 days a week, weights 4 days a week.
|
all the time
I have worked out 5 or 6 days a week all summer. Usually I do 40 minutes of cardio at the gym (mostly running on the treadmill), or I go running outside in my neighborhood if it's not too hot.
Running has really gotten me in shape (esp. my lower body) way better than the elliptical machine ever did, back when that was my main form of cardio. I've lost 12 pounds this summer. When school starts up again, I probably won't have the time or desire to work out almost every day, but I know there's no way I'll be able to keep the weight off unless I go running four days a week, at least. |
I'm a big slacker.
I would work out but my husband broke my treadmill when he was trying to move it with his dad...he dropped it on his hand!!! We seriously thought he broke his hand. The top of his hand was swollen over an inch high!! |
I run 4-5 miles or rollerblade 15 miles 2-3 times a week.
I work out for 1 1/2 hours with my trainer 3 times a week. Usually about every 6-8 months, I'll cut this back to 2-3 workouts total per week for 2-3 months to cure the inevitable burn out I suffer and the repetitive stress iinjuries I am prone to. I've had this kind of a workout schedule for 12 years. :) |
I work out six days a week for 2 hours, at least. I use the elliptical trainer or treadmill for 35-60 minutes, then take a step class for 60 minutes, and then 20 minutes strength training. I swim for 90 minutes on Saturdays. I've kept up this schedule for almost 2 years without fail (except for when I am away on vacation).
I have lost 235lbs so far, 70 left!!! |
I try to at least three times a week.
|
I work out at least three times a week, mostly with weights, sometimes I do the Firm upper/lower body split, and I TRY for one yoga workout.

I love to work out but I hate gyms and ESPECIALLY hate running, so I work out at home with videos 5 or 6 times a week. I like the Firm videos the best, especially Classic Vols. 1, 4, and 5, Cardio Split 1, and Cardio Sculpt. Maximum Body Shaping and Body Sculpt are good for all-weights workouts, but I find that I get better results doing more cardio. I also enjoy Pilates, especially Jennifer Kries. |

And even with all that, I STILL can't do that last set of squats with the barbell! Oh well! It's so funny to me that women are afraid to use weights, and afraid to use heavy weights- my legs did not start to get leaner and slimmer UNTIL I started using weights! THe lower body workout in particularly has been VERY effective- I am wearing jeans I wore in high school now. I am not a huge fan of the upper body split to be honest. Question for the exercisers: Do you guys do a lot of ab work?? I confess that I really don't and my abs look tight. It seems that just getting my body fat% down was what made the difference. But I just feel like I SHOULD be doing the ab work. Hmm... |
I work out everyday I can
every other workout I do a circuit on the weight machines, pretty low weights so I dont get too bulky every workout I do TONS of ab exercises... I tend to put weight on there (I will never have "thunder thighs" though, no matter how much weight I gain - i guess its one of those "you win some, you lose some" type deals) every workout I also do 30 min cardio, but due to an old injury I'm pretty much limited to the elliptical or the exercise bike... low-impact only I try to to yoga or pilates whenever I can... my mom teaches yoga and shes in AMAZING shape p.s. sigmagrrl congrats on the amazing weight loss! |

Do you find that to be very effective?
It is almost impossible for women to bulk up- we just don't have the body chemistry to get those huge muscles you see on guys. Using low weight generally just takes LONGER to exhaust the muscle and effect changes. I try for enough weight that I can ONLY do 3 sets of 8. I carry my weight in my lower body, and itonly started to get smaller after I started to seriously lift weights. I am starting to think that abs are the same- exercise them, but with weight, and you will see the best results in the least amount of time. Since you can't spot reduce, doing thousands of crunches sounds goood, but just isn't particularly effective. THat's just my experience though, whatever works for individuals is cool! As long as your bf% is down, you'll see them looking nice. Yoga is a GREAT workout- people don't understand the amount of strength and coordination some of those positions take! THe jury's still out on pilates though, lol. Quote:

I try to do weights twice a week (an hour or more each time) and an hour of cardio (elliptical machine, biking or running) 4 times a week, but sometimes I'm a slacker. At worst, I work out 3 to 4 days per week. I have to give mad props to those of you who have had such dramatic weight loss. That is amazing!!! |
Last semester I took a step aerobics class for credit, and it was an easy way to get back in shape. However, it's a different story in the summer when I'm at home. I try to lift weights at least 3 or 4 days a week and have really toned my upper body, particularly my shoulders, triceps and upper back. I also do an ab workout with weights and have found quicker results by doing ab excercises that requires you to be in a standing position instead of the normal crunches.

Updates Please!!!!
Any news/suggestions/success stories? |
I go to the gym everyday for an hour where I run 2 miles and then do 9 miles on the bike. I also do a lot of ab workouts and squats (not the kind with weights but the kind that tone your thighs). I love to workout b/c it makes me feel so awesome and in the mean while it also helps me look good too. :) I have gone down 2, almost 3 sizes since I started this kind of workout a few months ago. That's not why I do it of course, but it's a nice benefit nonethless. ;)

I just started working out majorly a couple weeks ago. I missed it so much! :) I go 5 times a week for about 2 hours. I go about 20 min's on the treadmill, 20 min's on the bike, 10 min's on the stair-kill-your-thighs-machine, and then about 45 min's to work-out on the various machines. Man, I used to work out all the time, then I got my boyfriend so I quit! lol!
|
the only thing that i can get my lazy butt to do is stomach crunches. i have been doing a lot each day. i am working on flattening my stomach. it seems to be working!:D :D

I used to work out all the time. But since I quit skating competitvely, not so much. It's gone downhill over the past 6 years. lol -M |
I go to Curves for Women 3 times a week. I would love a treadmill for the other days, but I don't have anywhere to put it!
|
I just got myself back into the routine of working out pretty regularly. I have been doing Pilates, running, biking, and belly dancing. The belly dancing tapes are really fun, I must add! I have been doing Pilates for almost two months and the results are amazing. My stomach tightened up so quickly and my muscle tone improved also. Seeing results so quickly motivates me to work out even more than I would usually! I am ready for summer

I know that I ought to, but I still don't workout!
|
I've been going to the gym everyday for the past couple weeks and love it! It's mostly been Stairmaster/ellipical/bike and sometimes the treadmill. There are a few toning exercises that I do, but I'm having trouble getting into doing weights. I'm pretty muscular already and don't want to be bulky. Since I don' t know what to do....I've been doing nothing. :p So if anyone out there has suggestions...!
