Last week someone mentioned that the chapter houses at IU look like dorms so I decided to check them out.
Here is a nice house at IU. (not my house) http://www.indiana.edu/~acacia/acacia.htm |

If I knew how to add a JPEG to this page, I'd post a picture of the Ohio University Delt Shelter. |
All I can say is WOW!!! That house is absolutely beautiful....DRau, I loove looking at other orgs houses too. UMd has some pretty beautiful houses:D

USC
Here are pics of all the houses at University of Southern California.
PRow Tour This is a bit outdated though, because Chi O lost their charter and aren't there anymore, and the Theta's just recently built this new house which is absolutely gorgeous. The link to the theta house is: Omicron Chapter |

bitty note
just a bitty note....the link Tonya put of the Alpha Beta house only shows about 1/4 (if even) of our awesome house. My fav room in the house is the formal living room. Those couches are the best to fall asleep on in front of a fire....lol

We occupy the same structure since 1910 (colony). Here's couple pics.
Our House, 1911 Our house, 2001 Look the same, except the second verandah was demolished in 1930s, I believe. |

This page/picture does not do our chapter house justice. :(
Delta Beta Chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta WSU Alpha Gam |
We didn't have a sorority house. :(

seeing all these pictures, just wants me want a house even more.. I wish I had a pic of the houses at Oglethorpe, they are all identical and look like shack, but I still want a house.

Theta Xi UW
I think I've seen the Acacia house from Indiana when the IFCSupply guy came to our house and tried to sell me lightbulbs and cleaner and stuff( I was the House Manager). He was showing me this book with pictures of his house (the acacia house) in it. That guy was kinda wierd!
I've also been in the WSU AGD house. My real sister was in it. I have to say that all the houses look exactly the same at UCLA Here a link to our house. Theta Xi - Upsilon Chapter - UW These photos are from 1999, but they should be updated within the next couple days. I've been told its cute and cool looking but I'm not sure. We have plans on expanding it in the next couple years. Can't show you the annex next door, but its also a good house. |

ZTA Chapter house at Florida State University. Parts of the house are over 125 years old. You can take an online tour at: http://www.zetataualpha.org/rgl/fh1297.htm The pics are old, though. All the public rooms shown have since been completely remodeled and the entry way was redone this year. |
This is my chapter house at Gamma Xi chapter at the University of North Texas..it was built in 1992. It was nice but we took more care of it when we went dry in fall of 2000.

ok, so I thought there was a picture of our house somewhere on the internet, but I was wrong. But if you think old houses are cool, DRau, our house at the College of Charleston was built sometime between 1730 and 1770. It's one of the oldest houses on Sorority Row. On our campus, Chi Omega's house was built in 1770 and ADPi's was built in 1850. The rest I am not really sure about, but they're all pretty old.
|
I am so jealous!!! My sorority house looks like a paupe house compared to all of yours especially FSU's ZTA house.
Geesh we have six rooms and there are four girls crammed in five rooms-- the house mom gets her own room. Our tv room is so small so if we do Friends sisterhood or such we have to put the tv in the living room and move all of the furniture out. Our couches are from the late 1980's. This yr we finally got new bunk beds since the ones we had since 1981(NOT Joking) were a safety hazard! |
There is a picture of Zeta Theta chapter's house on our web site, http://ww2.lafayette.edu/~agd/ but it's kind of dark because we have so many trees around. It used to be the campus's infirmary (which I never understood because it's down a pretty steep hill), and I think it's about 100 yrs old (but don't quote me on that!). It looks a little bigger than it really is because the 3rd floor is closed off, but I think it's one of the prettiest sorority houses at Lafayette...most of the other ones are converted dorms, but we have a real house. :)

Florida Delta Pi Beta Phi House
Can't wait to move in...only 2 more days!! And I got my first choice of room, too! :D PnguinTrax I LOVE your house! I saw it in person back in April on my fateful trip to Tallahassee and was also impressed with DZ's house and I think Chi O's. Also completely fell in love with Florida Beta Pi Phi's house, but can't find their website for my life. :( I love looking at Greek houses! |
Sorry, this is the hard way, but I can't seem to make a direct link work -- perhaps because the site is being updated.
Go to www.oudelt.com, click on photo album, then click on 1999 button. There is a fair picture of the Athens Shelter. It was opened in 1970. There is a painting of the "old" OU Delt house in the museum area of the Delt Central Office. The "old" one is where I pledged. ((Edit -- now that link is down. If it's worth it, go to the OU link below, choose "current students," then "Student Organizations," then "Greek Life," then "fraternity and sorority chapter list," then "Delta Tau Delta." I don't blame you if this is too much to bother with.)) I also wish I could show you a picture of Galbreath Chapel which is across the street from the Delt House on the OU College Green (National list of Historic Places). It was donated by the late Brother John Galbreath, a Beta Chapter alumni who later owned a Kentucky Derby Winner, part of the Pittsburgh Pirates (with brother Dan) and lots of other real estate around the country. If you ever visit the OU webpage (www.ohio.edu), you can take a tour of campus buildings and see the chapel and the alumni center (see below). Also, the Konneker Alumni Center was donataed by Brother Wilfred Konneker, another Beta Delt. Yikes! Sorry this is such a mess. |

Dianne...I just wanted to say that CofC has some of the most beautiful houses that I've ever seen. I go to a school where we don't have houses, b/c of some law...but I've got a friend who is a KD at CofC and I'm going to see her house when I go down there next week. I can't wait b/c they are all so beautiful from the outside. :)

under my signature i have the link to our chapter website. Some nice pics of our house especially one at night with lights all around it.

PM me if you ever need a website for one of our chapters. If the chapter has a website, I have it!... With the exception of WVU. I heard they were building one, but I have not seen it. Good Luck with work week and moving into the house! |
Yay! There's finally a picture of (like half) my house online:
http://www.uiowa.edu/~greek/images/p...delta_zeta.jpg You can' really see the house all that well b/c there's trees everywhere (great picture, huh!) but i guess thats part of the beauty of it :D We just got a new IFC/Panhel website up! and you can check out your GLOs house at: http://www.uiowa.edu/~greek/greek_li..._sor_info.html |
I hope this works! My chapter has two houses that are side by side! We are the only chapter I know of with two houses!

A lot of people here (UW) have two houses. I think that a lot of them are considered annex's. We have an annex, but it is a seperate house, but we abide by every rule and stiulation that we do in the main house, so it definately is a second house I think. A couple houses actually have sky bridges on our campus. Were looking into it.

This is a picture of our Kappa Sigma chapter house at Washburn University.
http://www.washburn.edu/ur/postcard/...KappaSigma.jpg It's small with only 26 beds, but is definitely a cool old house. |
Docetboy, your house is beautiful!
|
This is the Chi Omega house at Western Michigan University.
It is actually pretty big, it's very long. Most of the newer lots in Fraternity Village are quite narrow, so many houses are being built in this long style. The house was built in 1994. http://us.f1.yahoofs.com/users/64715...fgLE.AMckoC_Qt |

2) Ichabod Washburn gave the school a lot of money when it was Lincoln College (named after Abraham Lincoln). Therefore, the school was renamed Washburn, and stupidly enough, the mascot became the Ichabod. 3) PSU is a good school. You beat us in football (by far...) but we just beat you in volleyball to become MIAA champs - so ha! 4) It's a very good house, and I'm enjoying it, and will hopefully be initiated in January. |
I hate all of you! I can only look at these beautiful houses and wana cry. Why?
Cuz Metro Detroit SUCKS! As I've bitched about before, we're not allowed to have sorority houses because it would be considered a brothel. Hmm.... yep cuz more than 5 un-related girls in a house would be a brothel. UGH! I'm so jealous of you guys! |
Our house was built in 1916 by Ray Stannard Baker, a Pullizter Prize winner. It became a fraternity when he died in 1947. We're on the tour of famous houses in Amherst. It sleeps 22, although we're gonna do renovations over the summer to bring that up to 26. We're really lucky- we've got a 2 1/2 acre lot, which is HUGE in Amherst- we're the only GLO with a backyard. Only bad thing about the house is we're about 1/2 a mile from the Row, and we're in the middle of a neighborhood with lots of professors' families, and we have a Mormon church for a neighbor.

Oh, we're stop 18 on the tour.
