Spring Semester Rushees
 

Okay, all you potential spring rushees! I'm sure everyone would love to hear about how rush goes for you so...who are you? Where are you? We're really interested!

I will be rushing this spring at the University of Akron in Ohio. I am very excited and am trying to learn as much as I can before I go back to school. There are 5 sororities on my campus: ADPi, Delta Gamma, Alpha Phi, AGD and KKG. The AGD and KKG chapters do not have websites, so I haven't been able to learn as much about them yet. However, the other sororities all sound great so far! I guess that the first recruitment event is a progressive dinner on February 6. If anyone has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Hello praisedancer! You're right, AGD doesn't have a chapter website at your campus. However, the Omega chapter at U of Akron was founded in 1922, being the 22nd chapter installed.

While meeting with the AGD sisters would be your best bet to learn more about the Omega chapter, visiting this link would also be helpful. It's http://www.alphagam.net/links/collegiate.php and this page has links to many of the active AGD chapters across the US and Canada.

Well, I am officially signed up for spring recruitment. There is a Greek forum on Monday night and a progressive dinner on Tuesday night, where you go each house and they serve you a course of the dinner. I am so excited, but I'm really nervous. What would be appropriate attire for each of these things?

have you been assigned a rho chi yet? she should be able to tell you exactly what to wear to everything. usually rush gets progressively more dressy as the week goes on.

i'm guessing they'll be introduced to you on monday night. that night will probably be an informational session type thing, where they tell you how the rush process will work, what happens each night, etc. since they haven't told you what to wear, try to look nice... i don't know what you'd normally wear to school, but maybe you could wear dark pants (not jeans) and a nice top... dress up a little bit. you want it to look like you made an extra effort to look nice.

Hey guys, this is my first post, ive been reading for a few days. Im starting formal rush tomorrow! I guess you could say it starts tonight because there's an orientation from 7 to 10. Im really excited, ive known i want to be in a sorority for a long time. Im getting nervous though because it seems like everyone is rushing and its very competitive to get into the houses! wish me luck :-)

Ok there are 14 sororities on my campus, and they are: tri-delt, kd, theta, phi sig, sdt, aephi, alpha phi, adpi, dphie, sigma kappa, delta gamma, alpha chi omega, aopi, and zta! i dont know much about a lot, i did go to tri-delt twice during informal rush(freshman arent allowed to get bids though until we have 12 credits) so i liked it there tons! but i dont wanna make any kind of decision until ive seen all the houses, and im trying to ignore all the stuff ive heard about them. i'll post again after my first set of tours which is tomorrow!

my rush experience is kinda sad. I rushed this house with a friend because I really liked their philantrophy. I didn't know much about this house and i didn't want to know beforehand. I wanted to see how i feel about this house without any outside comments. Later, my friend found out that they are not a popular house on campus. Her exact words were "it's a reject house". She didn't attend the last rush event but I went anyways because I like the girls. Well, I found out today that I didn't get a bid and she did. I am very upset. I think I am sadden mostly because I sorta overprepared for this sorority thing. I enrolled in the minimum units this semester so I would have enough time for pledging and studying. Well i don't want to talk anymore...I am gonna go sulk now...(~_~) i'll be alright in awhile.

a few advice from me...if you have a boyfriend that's in a frat, don't tell them about it. at lease that's what i think i did wrong...don't limit yourself to one house, when things don't go your way, you'll have other options

I am rushing at the University of Akron. There are 5 sororities on campus. I've met a few ADPi's that seemed really nice. I've heard a lot of great things about their sorority. Also, the other night, a girl from Delta Gamma emailed me. Other than that, I haven't met any girls from the other sororities (Alpha Phi, KKG, AGD). I will get to tour the houses on Tuesday night. I can't wait!

Hi! Well I go to a Universiry of California and just rushed this Winter (we're on the quarter system). I had been wanting to rush for a while and due to my conflicting schedule I was only able to make it to 2 out of the 8 events the Delta Gamma's had. I was sure I wouldn't get a bid. But I did! I say it was all by mere luck! A few girls who were there all 8 nights didn't get in. Here's what happened...I really wanted to rush this quarter but I knew I'd only be able to make it to 1 of the events...maybe 2. So I said I'd do it in the Spring...but the day of the 7th event a DG came up to me and asked me to go. Ninjabunny--I'm so sorry to hear about how it turned out. But don't give up! You could always rush again. Your at Cal right? I'm sure if you keep a positive up beat attitude you'll be invited to the chapter you want! Yeah its big here...i go to University of Maryland College Park. anyways, tonight was my first set of tours, we went to half of teh houses. I had soooo much fun! Basically I liked all of them but two, the ones i liked are phi sig, kd, theta, sdt, and alpha chi o. it of course was freezing tonight so i hope i dont get too sick! but other than that i am so excited for the rest of rush. Im not supposed to go out tonight but i am anyways...but only for a little, cause we have to meet at some really early time tomorrow!! ok well i'll keep y'all updated! good luck everyone else!

I grew up like 5 mintues away from UMD- Go TERPS!!!!! I'm an SDT down in Florida, but I came home for the break and drove down to College Park to see what the house looked like there, and it is so cool.I know a couple greeks at MD I will wait until later to tell you so I don't influence you. Hey everyone! so today we toured the rest of the 14 houses...Alpha Phi and Tri-Delt were my faves. AOPi was good too. but i think i've decided that Phi Sig is my favorite. I also really love theta and sdt. we'll hafta see how it goes and how many i get invited back to for set of 10! we pick up our invites on monday, talk to u guys later

I went through Spring Informal rush here at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. I went to the ZTA and DZ house and really didn't feel like they were for me. I took a friends advice and stopped by the Alpha Xi Delta house. I hadn't thought much about it, but I stopped by for about 20 mins, and as fate would have it I got a call that night inviting me back to their Pref night. The following night a got offered a Bid! I was so excited. Now I am pledging and God really put me where I would be happiest and I am so glad I didn't limit myself.

HEY EVERYONE!!! i am sooo excited, i got invited back to all 14 houses! I had to cut 4 though. i was sooo relieved. unfortunately lots of girls did get cut, and they had told us no one would get cut unless they had a low gpa, which wasnt the case. but im sooo excited for set of 10, which is wed night!!! haha i am too excited actually, i need to calm down, its only first round for god sakes! haha ok talk to y'all later!

Our Recruitment started tonight! I am way too tired to give details, so I'll go into detail later...haven't been in my room for 12 hours, my parents and friends are leaving me messages, wondering and worrying how I am. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Well first of all, last night my rho chi called to tell me there was a little mix up, its not taht big of a deal but one house didn't invite me back, Kappa Delta. So the houses I'm going back to are: Phi Sig, SDT, Tri-Delt, A Chi O, D Phi E, A E Phi, Alpha Phi, Theta, A O Pi, and Sig Kap. The parties start tomorrow(Wednsday) and i dont know my exact schedule yet...we go to 5 on wed and 5 on thursday. It's the philanthropy round so we make little projects. it sucks for me cause i have a bio lab until 6 tomorrow and its supposed to start then!! im gonna have to go to the lab dressed all pretty :-) i'll let u guys know how it turns out!

Last night was the Greek Forum where I got to meet a few girls from each chapter and look at the table they set up. It was really cool. I was so nervous because I was by myself, but I met some really nice girls. I am particularly interested in Alpha Gamma Delta and Alpha Phi. I felt very comfortable with the girls I met and we share a lot of interests. I think I'd have a blast with either of these sororities. Kappa Kappa Gamma was pretty nice too. Tonight is the progressive dinner. I am so excited! Then, there are a ton of activities planned this week and next. Wish me luck!!!! I think it will be a lot of fun!

ok this is to anyone whos on now or within the next few hours........a frat on my campus is having a party tonight at a club, they rented it out. My friends and I are all planning on going, BUT we were told to "try not to go out" during rush!! plus i am sure lots of sorority girls will be there. what do i do?? should i not go? because i really want to go and have fun, but i dont want to ruin my chances of being in a house i love! any suggestions are appreciated :-) thanks!

We are forbidden to go out during Rush. If it is recommended not to go out - don't. I can promise that no one will notice that you aren't there, but they sure will notice if you are there! What if something happens and you are put in a comprimising situation and a bunch of the girls see you??? You'll have plenty of parties to attend. For me - I vote don't go! But good luck with rush!!

For all the reasons Allie mentioned. If you are going stir crazy go to a movie or something.

everyone's right... don't go out during rush. it makes things feel awkward for the sisters, since i'm sure they aren't even allowed to talk to you this week (outside of rush events). the sisters don't want to run into you out at night, so don't make them unhappy with you. if this is a fraternity party, OF COURSE some of the girls will be there. you'll only piss people off by going out tonight... you won't earn "cool points" by being at this one party.

I just got back from the progressive dinner at my school. I got to go to each chapter's house and meet the girls. It was so fun! I loved all of the sororities, but I still say that I feel the most comfortable with Alpha Gamma Delta and Alpha Phi. I will definitely be attending their C.O.B. events this week. I am so excited!!!!!!

YEAH PRAISEDANCER!! I am so glad to hear that you had a great rush so far. Where are you at? I am especially excited to hear that the Alpha Gam Legacy lives on... Not only that, but I hope you can see from others on here that AGD is a tight sisterhood. You can also go to www.alphagam.net to look at more bulletin boards from sisters of AGD.. I think we are the only NPC group to have such a board. Good luck and let me know what happens!
