NFL Season

Who is everyone rooting for this season in the NFL? My team is th Washington Redskins, and I think they are going to go all the way with our new coach Steve Sperrier.

DeltaSigStan 08-03-2002 11:33 PM

Well, my New England Patriots DID just win the NFL Championship........

wreckingcrew 08-04-2002 03:27 AM

Go Texans!!

With A&M's proximity to Houston, and the large amount of Aggie players on the team, i've finally got an NFL team to root for since John Elway retired.

BTW, College Football is 10X better than anything the NFL can put out there. The pagentry of the Big XII and SEC are rivaled by none.

APhi 08-04-2002 09:33 AM

I still have to root for the darn Broncos... as difficult as they've made it to be a fan the last couple of years. Last year was an unmitigated disaster starting with injuries and ending with some serious morale problems. I'm cautiously optimistic for this year though.

I really just can't wait until the Broncos/Raiders match-ups. Between Romo switching sides and my boyfriend being a long time Raiders fan... It's gonna be fun!!

Thrillhouse 08-04-2002 12:14 PM

At last, the real season/sport starts. I can't wait for the regular season to start.

chopper816 08-04-2002 05:24 PM

I gotta go with my favorite team since I was a little kid to win the championship again, GO PATS!!!!!

Tom Earp 08-04-2002 06:02 PM

Go KC CHEFS!

HAHA! DAMN!

GO Gorillas, my team!

Will probablyb look better in ArrowHead than the Chefs!

Sorry, but I am rooting for anyone that plays against Washington. I loathe Spurrier.

My team is the professional Florida State Seminoles...oops, I mean the Tampa Bay Bucs.

damasa 08-04-2002 06:30 PM

Da chiefs.....
Talk about making it difficult to be a fan, yet I have remained loyal.

PotentialPledge 08-04-2002 07:28 PM

Did anyone see how Sperrier and the Redskins demolished the 49ers with the whopping victory of 38-7. I think the Redskins will be a big contender this season.

One word:

Pre-Season

APhi-

I understand all about it being difficult to be a Broncos fan. I lived in Denver in the late 80's and early 90's, when they would cruise through the regular season and play-offs, only to break our hearts in the Super Bowl. I kept rooting for em after we moved, mostly because i was a big Elway fan. I was extremely happy for him and the whole state of Colorado when they won Back-to-Back Super Bowls. After Elway walked away, my interest kinda diminished, as all the Broncos i'd grown up with were gone. I'll still root for em, just as long as they ain't playing the Texans. ;)

I'm ALL FOR THE TN TITANS!!!!

oh, and I LOVE college football! I LOVE FSU and of course my wonderful men of the VOLS!!!!!

And, please no insults on my teams....you don't wanna make me cry:)

KSig RC 08-04-2002 08:30 PM

Let's not even consider the 'Skins a real pro team yet - with Sage Rosenfels running the Fun 'n Gun, I think you can call this a 'rebuilding year'. It will be ugly - however, their defense will probably win them games. Until Patrick Ramsey figures it out, it will be tough on the skins.

The only team with a worse quarterback problem is my fantasy team, where I somehow managed to draft Michael Vick and Doug Flutie and also keep from euthenizing myself. UGLY.

DeltaSigStan 08-04-2002 08:44 PM

Couldn't be worse than "retired" Ryan Leaf

I have to agree! As I will agree I am an Aggie Fan as well, even though I didn't go there!

Steeltrap 08-04-2002 09:52 PM

Charger fan

I try to be a loyal fan, but my team causes me a great deal of frustration.

And please don't start on Cryin' Ryan Leaf: "Don't talk to me! Knock it off!" Talk about being a big p@%^*.

Clown.

It was a sad luck of the draw, not getting Archie and Olivia Manning's second son as our quarterback.

:(

As for college football, I'm a University of Southern California alum who hasn't been to a game since 1985-86, my senior year.

NinjaPoodle 08-04-2002 10:16 PM

Steeltrap, you think you're loyal? Call me crazy but...GO COWBOYS!!

Been a Cowboys fan since 1977. But when they piss me off [and they do..] my 'other' team is the Miami Dolphins.:p

My college team is the Grambling State University TIGERS!

For a while, I had been a CAL bears fan ('cause of an ex-boyfriend) but once that Prop 209 passed, I dropped them like a hot potato...

Sisterplum 08-04-2002 10:23 PM

Another 'boys fan here!!!!!!!!

I have loved them since I was a little kid (probably cause when I was little I dreamed of being a Cowboys cheerleader!!!:D)

I'm hoping they'll have a better season than last year!

For college ball......gotta go with Florida State!:) Hee hee...in one year it will be my school!!!!!

THE SILVER AND BLACK WILL RULE THE AFC WEST AGAIN AND WILL AVENGE THAT TRAVESTY OF JUSTICE THAT HAPPENED IN FOXBORO, MA!!!

IT WAS, AND FOREVER WILL BE, A FUMBLE!!

RAIDER NATION FOREVER!!!

...really, I am not bitter, not in the least...;)

PotentialPledge 08-06-2002 11:28 AM

What did everyone think about the Giants Texans game last night?

UofISigKap 08-06-2002 12:04 PM

Love those Bears!

An added bonus is they are playing in my beloved Memorial Stadium for two seasons. My whole fall is Orange and Blue!

moe.ron 08-06-2002 12:10 PM

go Giants. Yeah. Could be worst, I could be a Jets fan.

PotentialPledge 08-11-2002 10:21 PM

Did anyone see how the redskins won against the Carolina Panthers? I know its only preseason, but I think the skins will be a big player this year.

mrblonde 08-11-2002 10:34 PM

Pray for Pittsburgh

'THE SILVER AND BLACK WILL RULE THE AFC WEST AGAIN AND WILL AVENGE THAT TRAVESTY OF JUSTICE THAT HAPPENED IN FOXBORO, MA!!! '

Im sorry, but as a Steelers fan I would have preferred the fair degree of ambiguity (although I agree with you) to the sabotage in last year's AFC championship game. WHO THROWS 4 INTERCEPTIONS IN THE AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME? What happened to the Raiders was an honest (yet stupid) mistake on the referee's part, but some had to have paid Kordell Stewart off to throw that wrench in the Steelers offense. Come on, admit it! Who was it? Im looking at you, disgruntled '86 and '96 Pats teams...

Rudey 08-11-2002 11:02 PM

Da Bears. Da Bears. Sausage. Da Bears. Da Bears.

--I really liked Soldier Field though.

Cluey 08-11-2002 11:16 PM

I have to agree that college football has it all over pro football. The cheerleaders... the mascots... the band... it's just the overall atmosphere of the college campus and game.

I, for one, am glad that Steve Spurrier left UF. I wish him nothing but mediocrity in the NFL :D

College Football: UGA (season tickets just came in! woo!)
Pro Football: Jaguars, but they have a propensity to suck.

PotentialPledge 08-19-2002 12:13 AM

I just want to give the redskins mad props for beating the Steelers when they were down 20 in the 3rd quarter. The Pats also had a good game as well this weekend. GO SKINS and PATS!!!

wreckingcrew 08-19-2002 04:13 AM

Since this is an NFL thread...

Terrell Davis, Thank You for bringing back-to-back Super Bowls to all of us long-suffering Broncos fans. Also, thank you for being such an outstanding and inspirational individual. While we're sorry to see you go, we wish you the best in your retirement.

Not that i think TD will see this, but hey, y'all gotta acknowledge that if the guy avoids injury, he becomes one of the top backs in NFL history.

Now, on to my team, PLEASE Lord, let the Texans O-Line get healthy. All i'm asking for is 4 maybe 5 wins....(but PLEASE let one be against the Cowboys :p )

I'm with ya - I've been a Giants fan forever. Hey - at least Jeremy Shockey could have a hell of a rookie year.

Things might not actually be too bad - if the D-line starts to shape up like it should, and if the new speedsters the team has at wideout can open up the field a bit for Tiki Barber, things may just be looking up.

Collin

P.S. Someome tell Jason Sehorn to retire.

I have to say I like the Bears, too. At least last year being a Bears fan wasn't complete agony.

As far as college teams are concerned, I have to show a little love for my Iowa Hawkeyes!!!

Optimist Prime 08-20-2002 10:21 AM

I might start following the Eagles.

AXOLiz 08-20-2002 10:53 AM

Since I was born and raised in Cleveland, it's the Browns all the way, and then anyone who's playing the Steelers. :)

bubblevicious 08-20-2002 11:06 AM

I got my bf Madden 2003 on the PS2 for his B-day.... any more of u guys still play video games at the age of 20?

...da Bears

KSigkid 08-20-2002 11:32 AM

I still play the Madden games - I got PS 2 as a 20th birthday present last year, and I try to find time to play when I can.

So yeah...at the age of 21, I'm still playing video games.

Have pretty-boy and University of Southern California alumnus Jason Sehorn's skills eroded that much? If they show Giants games here in LoCal, I will have to watch.

If JS' skills have eroded, perhaps he should just step away from the playing field and content himself with being Angie Harmon's consort. :p

DeeGeePee 08-20-2002 12:21 PM

Once again, gotta love them SKINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They already beat up on
San Fran
Carolina
Pittsburg

Well, since you asked . . .

*Insert about 7 teams here*

I believe the 'skins play the 49ers again in week 5 or 6 - after that week, come back to this thread and let me know how it goes. Danny (a)Wuerffel will be at the helm most likely - NFL(Europe) quality.

Mooch will have the 9ers kicking ass and taking names, and the 'skins might go .500 . . . (at least for this year)

My Steelers will have a great season beating around the Browns et al, and the Eagles just need to show up to come out of the NFC East, so my teams look covered OK. *boing*

PS - Valkyrie, go Hawks dude, I can guarantee I'll be wasted and forcing all my friends to watch Iowa/ISU on ESPN2 at 5pm on 9/14 for the end of the streak and the beginning of another 15 in a row over the cyclowns.
