Texas Greeks
Whats up people. So maybe i'm blind or something but I hardly see that many greeks from Texas on the boards. Where are ya'll??
|
University of Houston
|
You're blind. Ha ha! Just kidding. :)
There are many, many Texan Greeks around. In fact, there was quite a long thread not so long ago about Greeks just in the Houston area. I can think of six of us off hand, though I know there are more. I am a Texan living in Atlanta, Georgia (originally from Houston). I work with the Gamma Iota chapter of Alpha Phi. My collegiate chapter was Epsilon Omega. Relevant threads: GreekChatters from Texas Houston, TX Texas GC'ers: Get Together? |

OMG.....Hi Amy :)
***side note*** So the week I moved up here I check my email and my DZ sister Jenna has sent an email that says this: "Hey, I know you just moved to RI and everything but I just wanted to make sure you knew that they "young alums" were going for happy hour..." Like she thought maybe I'd just stop into town for happy hour or something...it was pretty funny!...Guess you had to be there....okay, I think I will stop typing stupid things now! |

Yeah, I work around several of the Dean's. Everyone was giving them a hard time about it on Tuesday morning. They guy that was on academic probation is a Delt along with my best friend. That was hilarious. Also, the girl that showed the card to prove her "membership" is my AXiD sister. It was pretty exciting.

It is not raining here. It is a little gloomy and is supposed to rain a lot tonight and tomorrow. We are under a flash flood watch I think, and I am presuming that you all would be under one as well. Question - What's there to do in Kingsville??? :p Oh yeah, and are you from Kingsville originally or just "chillin?" |
Hey there! I'm from good 'ole texas too. ;) I love it!

I'm originally from Alice.. decided to stay close to home for the first couple of years.. I will be moving to Dallas in 2 weeks. And not much to do in Ktown :p A lot of the times we'll hang out @ the Lambda Chi lodge or have random parties at the sister's apartments. Last weekend to we went to CC to get out of here for a whlie and hit random bars/"clubs". (I will make a trip to CC ANYDAY for Olive Garden or Wendy's :p ) |

WHOOP!! right back at ya! Kitso..... Are you in town for the summer? I've heard there's been some fun times out at the Ponderosa lately!
|
Deep in the Heart!!!!
I recently got back form San Antonio, while we were there we went to Austin, I had a blast and wanted to see if anyone can comment on college life there, it seemed like it would be a blast, did MAtthew McCaugnehey go to UTA????
|
Oooh, be careful..... while we Aggies like to refer to "that other school in Austin" as t.u., the University of Texas is most commonly referred to as UT..... UTA would be U. Texas @ Arlington.....totally different city.
However, M.M. WAS a Delt at t.u. and their greek system is top notch. It really is a great school and their Greek system definately reflects that as well. |

I didn't go there myself, but my father, mother, brother, all aunts & uncles and several cousins went there. I am trying to do some brainwashing on my kids to make sure they end up there too. Everyone I know who has gone there loved it. I'm sure there are some 'horns on this list who would like to comment (and don't listen to those Aggies...). :) |

Haha, yeah, i've been here for the summer. Well, except for that week i went home and to Mexico....gotta love the summer road trips :D Ahhhhhh, the Ponderosa, we have had some fun nights out there this summer, but nothing, NOTHING compared to the blowouts we had during the school year. I mean, Drinco De Mayo was off the hook as was our Bid House celebration. With school fixin to start i think the 'Rosa is primed for a bash in the near future ;) Kitso KS 361 |

Greek in progress?
Hi Folks--
I'm a Texan By Choice--Houston-area. If my pursuit of AI is successful I'll be initiated through a chapter either at Univ of Houston or Texas A&M. (Sorry, can't give you TOO many clues yet. <g>) I was born a Jersey/New England Yankee, but I'm here to stay now. Does this count? Adrienne :D |
Woohooo!!! Go EAGLES!!!!
Good to see new Texans on GC! adduncan, sure it counts, you chose Texas :p |
Not many Greeks in Texas???
This would be a big shock to me. . .everyone knows that in Texas, if you aren't in ROTC or some regiment program, you'd better be a Greek!!!!! |

Tell me about Texas! (started by yours truly) and Anyone in TX? :D |

I wish you the best of luck in procuring initiation from a chapter at the latter. Especially if you get a chance to come and spend time in College Station. Nothing beats being an Aggie, except maybe being a Greek Aggie :D Kitso KS 361 |
Resident Texan... though my chapter (now defunct) was Alpha Alpha Chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi at the University of Oklahoma. Don't know why, but National HQ hasn't tapped the Texas Greek community yet!
|
Oh, I'm a Texan too
My chapter used to be at SMU but it closed I have no clue why either But it's been instilled in me by all of my older friends and relatives. . . Greek life is mandatory. . .and I love it. |
