New Sorority

Just in case you have not heard about this or seen it on GreekEmails. . .

Omicron Epsilon Pi
http://www.oepi.com

I can already imagine some of your responses. For those who know me;). . . you can HEAR what I had to say as you read the stuff.

SORORS pay EXTRA SPECIAL attention to the map of this sorority's regions. . . I found it to be remarkable. :o

divaemeritus 07-29-2002 10:15 PM

I am not a member of any BGLO... but I say in the humblest manner I know how...

WTF?????

bluz4 07-29-2002 10:50 PM

I checked out the site and I was very surprised to see on their links page, numerous sororities and fraternities for all lifestyles: feminine lesbians, butch lesbians, gay men, and the like.
on one hand, i have to say good for them. but on the other hand, i'm like: WHAT IS GOING ON??

Honeykiss1974 07-29-2002 11:38 PM

Ok, I'm trying to be a progressive woman and learn something about this sorority, until I ran across this remark......

In the midst of developing Iota Lambda Pi, the Sapphires realized that not only were there not a lot of Greek-letter organizations for lesbians of color, but there also weren't any that catered to the needs of Butch/Stud/Dom women

Butch/Stud/Dom women???? double

SweetestDiva 07-30-2002 12:49 AM

1. WHY oh WHY does one of their founders have the line name "H.D.I.C."? Please let "D" stand for "diva." Please.

Looking at the photo gallery...

2. The probate outfit was not made for everybody.

3. I DO know Ivy Stance when I see it.

DELTAQTE 07-30-2002 05:06 AM

LAWD!

I have no problem with people that don't want to be a part of the D9, but DAMN why must you copy the D9? I saw

A Pyramid(that UPSIDE down mess ain't foolin me)
The Ivy Stance
The Sgrho sign

If you don't prefer us, then why copy us? I just don't get it.

I was trippin off more of some of the g book entries all I can say is

And gurlllll you know that "D" in HDIC don't stand for no Diva. Although I wish it did!:o Kinda puts a spin on HNIC huh?

*lol*
I saw the g-book. What kind of question is "WHAT IS YOUR PREFERENCE?"

Ideal08 07-30-2002 08:35 AM

I'm gon' be late to work behind this one...

I couldn't even make it through the whole webpage. LOL, ok.

HDIC tripped me out. EEKA  EEKA !
Chynadoll does not look like a Chynadoll.
Don't think it's the SGRho sign, but too friggin' close, I think they use a different finger... whatever.
Not gonna comment too much on the Ivy Stance. *sigh*
Also not gonna comment on the upside down pyramid. *sigh*
But I will lend comment to EPPITUDE. Come ON now, ladies.
Empyreal's eyebrows... WHOA... quite far from her eyes.
Tattoos? I guess it's serious like that, ok.
Did you peep the crest? Did you? At the top, on one side, there are two women symbols interlocking, and then on the other side, there are THREE. Don't really know what to take from that, lol.
Probate pics, did yall peep those? Where's the audience? LMAO!!!

But the thing that gets me MOST: PICTURE DAY!!! OH, WTF?? You actually went and had a picture day? Not you were hanging around the yard and took some pictures, but you had a picture day? That's tripped out right there. Str8 tripped out. Like, totally. lmao

I'ma go back when I get to work, lol. :)

Sistagreeks and Sorors, they say the best form of flattery is imitation. Does it have to be a good imitation?

PenguinTrax 07-30-2002 09:05 AM

From what I understand, they started here in Tallahassee. When I asked my LGBT friends about it, they'd never heard of it or the other women's and men's fraternities that started here for the same reason.

JJSP01 07-30-2002 10:11 AM

WHOA!

I'm still tripping off of this sorority...

treblk 07-30-2002 10:43 AM

I'm Saying!!!

If it aint one thing..it's a thrid :)

Ivy Stance?!?!?! :(
HDIC?!?!?!! :whoa:

How do you probate in half open blazers?!?!?!!?!
You have glamore shots pictures

I'm just saying..for real..for real..what's REALLY Going on?!?!?!?!

zchi2 07-30-2002 11:12 AM

just a note about the triangle

I just wanted to comment on the upside down triangle. I don't know the sorority, but an upside down triangle is a gay/lesbian symbol. It usually is in pink, but I guess they just changed the color to blue because it is their sorority's color.

kiml122 07-30-2002 11:19 AM

Ok I had not checked out this new org., but after all the comments here...trust and believe I am going to try and check out the site asap!!

ZTAMiami 07-30-2002 12:11 PM

An upside down triangle can also be a reference to a particular part of the anatomy:eek:

Now, is this just your opinion? Or have you seen this 'reference' somewhere else? Cuz we know it's fact about the pink triangle. But this here... that's not cool, in my opinion. I feel like that reduces Gay/Lesbianism/etc. to nothing more than a sexual body part. And a triangle? Upside down or not, that's not even anatomically correct.

That's how rumors get started...

FuzzieAlum 07-30-2002 02:14 PM

There's a reason Anais Nin called her book of erotic short stories DELTA of Venus. That doesn't mean this group is using the triangle for that, but there is historical use of referring to a women's more private area as a triangle, anatomically correct or not.

ZTAMiami 07-30-2002 02:58 PM

Ideal08:

I was definitely not trying to start a rumor and of course only members of this organization would know the significance of that sign and I'm sure it has a deeper meaning we would never know about.

I was just making the point that sometimes in drawings or in crude gestures people will use an upside down triangle to refer to a woman's private are.

I had totally forgotten about Delta of Venus though, good point Fuzzie Alum!

ykimber 07-30-2002 10:11 PM

Call me crazy but there page for the Alpha Colony looks alot like the Alpha Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta page!!!! Here is the site if no one has it

DELTAQTE 07-31-2002 03:18 AM

lawd

Y'all den got my pro-pro postin! Hey TreBlk!(waves)

Maybe it is the symbol for the lesbian community or whatever, but whenever I see two hands make a symbol, it usually looks like us(peep the Delta Gents). And I'm CTFU about how it might be for the female anatomy  .

Yeah peep the g book, I'm like dang is folks coming out or what?

QTE

ClassyLady 07-31-2002 09:02 AM

What really has me trippin is the fact that this sorority started in Tallahassee. I go to FAMU and from what I hear, there is a very large gay and lesbian greek community here. I have never seen anyone, anywhere, at anytime, repping any of these orgs. And, I'm not a house mouse either.

I think that these organizations are operating strictly underground. I have received emails and heard rumors about gay men pretending to be members AKA and DST. I actually even heard a gay man ask another gay man which one he was a member of. When he realized that I had heard him, he bounced. Now, he avoids me at all costs.

I am just going to have to keep an eye out for these women.

kissy324 07-31-2002 09:33 AM

Okay, I'm not trying to hate on their efforts, but I just want to know why:

- Why the open blazers when they KNOW a few of them did NOT
need to go there????

- Why the wigs?

- Why not remove the wigs when the masks were removed, to reveal who you REALLY are???? Aren't you still covering up the real you by leaving your wigs on??????

- Why no audience?? (Or did they have one and we couldn't see them).

- Why so many similarities to other greek orgs.?

WHY, WHY, WHY?????????????

zchi2 07-31-2002 09:40 AM

I believe that this is a legitimate organization. The website says it is incorporated sorority. And it is hard to put this sorority in the same catergory as gay men posing as a member of a sorority. I guess they didn't feel welcomed with other sororities so they made their own sorority.

treblk 07-31-2002 10:03 AM

(to DeltaQT) Hey My Neo/Numba..how you bees!!.. email me, tell me what's really going on witcha!!

Ok, the interesting thing is that they are not the ONLY lesbian/gay sorority in the Florida.
On Greekemails, I've seen a post with several different websites and links to them. It would be interesting if they ALL joined forces to establish themselves.

And no matter how much they resemble our Greek Lettered Organizations, they still have to pay homage in a sense. For with out us, there wouldn't be them...right?

I have never seen these crude drawings, nor have I ever heard about the Delta of Venus. Y'all taught me something new today. Why a triangle??? Well, actually, I have an idea. Moving on...

Innocence22 08-04-2002 12:05 PM

Whoa!!!!

LMFAO@ HDIC...that must stand for Hella Dark In Contrast (to the rest of her "sorors")
ChynaDoll looks like a wide-receiver for the NFL.
Most of them girls are ugly as hell with jacked up weaves. A few I believe used to be men. And if your stomach is bigger than your ass don't wear an open shirt made for people with FLAT stomachs.
If I was a member of any sorority of the D9 I would be pissed...
they are biting off of the Zetas and AKA's real hard.
LOL@ their hand sign. They're not sure if they wanna imitate Zeta, AKA, SGRho, or Delta (an upside down pyramid!!) Can they be more obvious!!
They get props for creating an organization like this to cater to lesbians and what not BUT be ORIGINAL!!! LOL!!!!

lovelyivy84 08-04-2002 12:27 PM

Oh My!

CTFU at this site!

Why Blue Pi as a call? I mean COME ON!

I too DO know Ivy stance when I see it!

CTHU:D Now see, you're wrong for that...

I'm not in a sorority, but I guess everyone has to get in where they fit in and these ladies wanted to feel like they were a part of something.

I'm just trippin off of the fact that they have a "bruhs" who are actually butch-type lesbians in their brother organization...did y'all catch that?
