Omega Conclave Report

Without a doubt, this was by far the best Conclave since Atl '92. Starting with the Tom Joyner Morning Show, which was straight bananas. Big ups to Tom for keeping it real and being a real Dawg and Man of Omega. The frat gave him about $75,000 in total donations.

Fri at Omega park was just the appetizer. Charlotte, the media, and the politicians welcomed the Bruhs with open arms. All you heard on the radio every 5 mins was about what the Ques were doing and where the party was gonna be and how the Bruhs showed Charlotte how to party.

Friday night was full of drinking, carousing, fraternizing, womanizing and the usual moral depravity. The highlite being the approximate 2000 Omegas in front of the Adams Mark at 3am doing the damn thing!!!!

Saturday was a day of rest I think. Can't remember anything until the sold out Comedy and Step Show. Ricky Smiley was funny but Adele Givens was completely insane. Laughed my butt off but felt sorry for people who brought their children. Kind of hard to have a clean comedian and dirty one on the same show.

The Step Show featured 5 hot teams, 3 okay teams and 2 weak ones. My former grad chapter was the winnner. Kappa Alpha Alpha of Decatur, Ga. The youngest member was 30 and the oldest, 39. The undergrads from Sigma Chapter at Michigan St and Ferris State put it down royally. The military chapter at LGG in Maryland took 3rd with a tight ass show. Big ups to Nu Psi and that singing Bruh, Upsilon at Wilberforce, and Eta Sig of Lincoln, Missouri. How bout all the Bruhs around the convention center party hopping to Atomic Dog. Damn lovely. Ricky Smiley being overwhelmed with the True Omega Spirit.

The Ricky Smiley After party and the Splash Party were crazy. All the half butt nekkid groupies, the fine women, and of course the out-azz Bruhs. Shut down the street in front of the Adams Mark with Bruhs settin' out hop after hop after hop. The rain nor the police could stop the power of the Mighty Q-Psi and those thunderous boots .

Oh yeah, the Bruhs did take care of business. $210,000 to the UNCF, 750 free prostate screenings and a super Health Seminar for Black Men, $75,000 the the Tom Joyner Foundation, the Assault on Illiteracy.

Damn its good to be a Que!!!!!

Soror, let's hope he didn't mean that kinda "hook up"--after all, the Bruz have nuttin' but Luv and Respect for Reds! Surely, you wouldn't be expected to perform for some VIP passes... :D

LMAO @ you. You still have issues too.

Aight so I am making note of the nunber but I am going to PM you with a code word in case someone tries to act like me to get my VIP passes and I have to cut them.

the411 07-17-2002 04:24 PM

Bruz,
Y'all give some colorful reports. I really appreciate the details, but I'm still salty that I couldn't join you in NC. And--even worse-- I can't go to Hot-Lanta either. Doggy, looks like we're never gonna meet face-2-face!

I must say that I had a lovely time in Charlotte...

The stepshow was sold out before I got a ticket, but I met some bruhs from the winning chapter the next weekend in Atlanta during the Delta convention... I also have a friend in that chapter who is pretty cool. LGG - the Military chapter - they usually have a tight show...and some live parties too, LOL. Glad to hear they won 3rd place.

Um, can I just say that Nu Psi chapter Ques have some of the CRAZIEST, most OUTRAGEOUS brands???

And I met this dude who I nicknamed "The 4% Body Fat Bruh"...cuz he only had 4% body fat and was walkin' around shirtless all weekend...(sigh).

And another dude, I nicknamed him "The Drawz Bruh", because he was walking around the Adams Mark lobby on Saturday night in NOTHING BUT SOME BOXER SHORTS!! No shoes, shirt, pants, NOTHIN' BUT DRAWZ...drunk as a skunk...and had the nerve to try and set out a hop in his draws in front of the hotel...HILARIOUS!! And I can attest to the thousands of bruhs outside the Adams Mark on Friday AND Saturday night...it was a sight to see.

The radio reported 20,000 Omegas came to Charlotte...20,000 Ques...in one city...whoo wee!! I lived in LA when the Conclave was out there in 1996, and was also in Atlanta whenever that one was (early '90's, I can't remember exactly when...was that '92?? I just remember being in the Underground and seeing nothing but a sea of purple and gold...), but Charlotte was by far the most fun I've had in a LONG time!!

I saw some jokey shirts in Charlotte too - this one chapter (from Grambling I think) had a group of Bruhs who were celebrating their 10th year in, and they all had on shirts that said:

"10 years in the Frat and never been Cat!"

That was jokey. I saw another guy in a shirt that said:

"I'm at the 'Clave...set me out!"

But the funniest by far was this one:

"See a Cat...Wreck a Cat!"

That one was pretty popular, LOL. I had a ball at the parties, at the park, seeing old friends, making new ones :p There was no drama with the police (at least none I saw), and it was all good...my friends even took pictures with the cops, LOL. Charlotte was a lovely host city.

It was all good, and as usual, I ain't mad at y'all.

...next stop, the DC Metro picnic later this month ;)

THREE LOVE:

Great report. Did I see you in front of the Adams Mark. There was a Soror there that had a DST brand on her shoulder blade. It was very discrete and nicely done, As much fun as you had. I had 100 times over. Yes, it was the best Clave ever!!!! Too bad that you missed the step show. It was awesome. I'm still hyped!!!!!
