I went to American! Pretty campus. What year are you going to be? Do you know where you're going to live yet?

AlphaChiS2K 07-16-2002 01:27 PM

I'm an Alpha Chi Omega at American University! DC is such a great city- and American is a fun school... we have 7 sororities and 8 fraternities :)

Any questions, feel free to ask!

Senusret I 07-16-2002 01:28 PM

I'll be a first year grad student in the creative writing program! :) So I won't be living on campus. It IS a pretty little campus!

There are a lot of Greeks from The University of Akron out there right now. One of my sisters has been living out there since she graduated a year and a half ago. She interned out there over the summer and got a job with America's Most Wanted. I'm not sure where exactly she's living now but I do know that she was living with a couple DGs from American when she first went out there.
There is also an ADPi and an Alpha Gam who are interning out there this summer too. Again not sure where exactly they are.
My little sis just graduated and she'll be going to Grad School at American in the fall so I'm sure I'll go there to visit!!

EagleChick19 07-16-2002 01:37 PM

I want to move to DC when I'm finished with school. I have always loved DC! :)

dieusaxa5 07-16-2002 01:41 PM

DC Greeks

Like dardenr, I also pledged APO at Georgetown--but I am still attending.

JMUduke 07-16-2002 01:58 PM

I love DC, I'm living in Foggy Bottom now...by GWU. Fun times!:)

PotentialPledge 07-16-2002 02:12 PM

Did anyone find internships in DC for the summer. I know I sent out almost 50 resumes and I didnt get any replies

Matt

JMUduke 07-16-2002 02:29 PM

I lucked out EXTREMELY and got an internship in Arlington...however, I did send out tons before I got this one...

I'm From the Area

I live in Montgomery Co, MD. I like the area, but I don't take advantage of the city as much as I could or should. The traffic is a b*tch, though. And rent is astronomical...Very style conscious and sort of shallow people live around here, too. From my experience only, not EVERYONE!

JMUduke 07-17-2002 01:27 PM

in certain areas I would agree with you, but I think the people here are a lot less shallow than bigger cities....although many people overlook DC as a real city just because we don't have any high rise buildings...anyhow, I love it!:D

confusedgrl83 07-17-2002 01:41 PM

I live in D.C. as well and I LOVE it :)... while it's true that the prices for things are WAYYYY more expensive than my home in Ohio, it's worth it to have access to so many cultural opportunties and the epicenter of US politics

PotentialPledge 07-17-2002 06:30 PM

I agree, I love dc. When choosing a collegeg I wasnted to go to a school in another part of the country so I shoe New England. Living away from dc makes me like it even more. I think after I graduate I would like to move back to the area.

dekeguy 07-17-2002 10:39 PM

Greeks in Washington? Check the White House.

PotentialPledge 07-22-2002 02:28 AM

so do all the greeeks that live in dc go to school in the area?

DZTUBAGIRL 07-22-2002 09:32 AM

I am from Anne Arundel Co in Maryland, not too far from DC. I agree that DC is beautiful, and I don't go and sightsee very much either. I went last week when my big sis came in town and it was really fun. I don't go to school at home though, I go to school in Kentucky, I really like it there too.

ChiOqt 07-22-2002 10:28 AM

I go to school in Northern Va only about 20 minutes from the city. I love it!!!!

PotentialPledge 07-22-2002 06:30 PM

Same I dont go to school at home, Im at UMass Dartmouth. I think after I graduate that I would move back to the dc area. Hey I like the go-carts in crofton.

DZTUBAGIRL 07-22-2002 09:40 PM

I live about 5 minutes from them and I have never been. Ha ha Crofton is where the Frankenfish is...that is so funny.

I grew up in Montgomery County, I guess I'm one of those shallow and style conscious people. I went to Florida for school and I graduate in December. I will be back home where I understand people two days after graduation. I can't wait. 146 days until I get back home................I'm so flippin' excited!

Pi Kapp 142 08-07-2002 02:18 PM

There is a Pi Kappa Phi Colony at GW. I loved the DC, I just got back from Supreme Chapter there. It was so much fun.

ChiOqt 08-07-2002 02:33 PM

Alright DC Greeks. what do you all do around the area when you get sick of doing the same thing...partyin, clubbin', bar hopping, etc...where do u all head for something different??

PotentialPledge 08-07-2002 04:26 PM

PI Kaps in DC

I was walking to work one day and i saw a whole lot of pi kaps wearing their letters. I thought it was a conclave/grand chapter. But anyways, DC stuf does get old. Ive lived here all my life so when we get tired of the dc thing we just hang out at Cosi or Starbucks. Insomnia is a cool club to go too as well. This may sound touristy but go to a museum. There is some cool stuff out there. The National Gallery of Art has a new egyptian exhibit, the corcoran has a great exhibit on Jackie Kennedy and there is so much more.

Re: PI Kaps in DC

PotentialPledge, I may have asked you already, but where did you attend high school?

I went to Wilson High School

PotentialPledge 08-07-2002 06:11 PM

For those who go to school in DC area, I was wondering if your house had a place where you hang out at??? Maybe a bar, or club, or anything.

Senusret I 08-07-2002 06:29 PM

Okay, cool, I went to Coolidge! (Class of '97)

enlightenment06 08-08-2002 12:58 AM

Hi everybody. I'm representing the N.A.S.T.Y. Nu Beta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. I'm a GW student and I'm here for the summer. For something different check out Bar Nunn on U Street. On Monday nights they have an open mic where you can sing, read poetry, rap, whatever. Also the waterfront at Georgetown is a nice place to chill. A big AAA-PHIII to all my icy cold bros and a phi-skee to all my sorors.
