Big Brother 3

Did any of you guys catch Big Brother 3?

SweetestDiva 07-11-2002 03:02 PM

Well, on the subject of Big Brother 3, did anybody actually watch it? I wonder if I'm the only one who saw how quickly the racial lines were drawn... But Danielle and Marcellas don't seem like they're falling for the other housemates' BS, which I'm glad to see. I know I'm not the only one who saw the show, am I?? :p

carolyne 07-11-2002 05:13 PM

I watched it last night because I was a HUGE Big Brother 2 fan. I must admit that I was a little disappointed. Some of the people in the house already irritate me. Josh is a Wil wanna be, but he's trying too hard. Amy is just a silly country girl. Other than having the older man, the older white lady, and the black chick, it seems like it's all about sex. That really disappointed me.

Maybe I'm jumping to conclusions. We'll see how it goes. I'm not going to give up on them yet.

ykimber 07-11-2002 09:34 PM

I watch the the first season of Big Brother and some of the ones from the 2nd season but i don't think I will be watching this one. I think I am burned out on these reality based shows, I will stick to Real World if I need a fix!

tmiller110 07-12-2002 09:11 AM

Is 2 the magic number?

Why does cbs insist on using only 2 African Americans on all of their reality based shows? Has anyone else noticed?

I think that they took their cue from MTV's Real World.

carolyne 07-12-2002 05:29 PM

OK! OK! OK!

I watched the second episode last night and it's not too bad. I was upset at Lisa for nominating Marcellas and Lori after she heard Josh and Gerry talking about her. Do you think that she has a master plan or did she basically get punked by hearing Josh say that if she doesn't do what the others told her that she will basically be shooting herself in the foot?

On another note, Marcellas was cracking me up last night. He was so funny when he was critiquing the fashion sense of everyone in the house. Josh gets on my last nerve. I don't like Amy. Roddy seems to have a self-esteem problem. Chiara was wrong for outing the virgin in the house like that. (Now, he's really the man.) I think Chiara and Lisa are going to both vie for his attention now.

tmiller110 07-13-2002 09:04 AM

Soror I think you are right about your assessment of the personalities....I like Marsellais...he was a trip...I think Lisa punked out! Let's see what happens tonight.

SweetestDiva 07-13-2002 09:15 PM

I missed it tonight! :(

Who got kicked off, and what was the new twist to the show?

tmiller110 07-14-2002 05:38 PM

My greeksister it was a trip....no one got kicked out, but the twist was funny...they had to compete for the NO symbol (you know the red circle with the diagnol line through it)...the person who get's the symbol can use it to remove one of the people who were put up for eviction and then the Head of household would be forced to pick another person....they were about to die..so anyway Gerry got the symbol and he has to decide on Wed.if he is going to remove someone and force Lisa to put someone else up.

Senusret I 07-14-2002 10:12 PM

Two Black Folks

I think that having two black people on reality shows increases the conflict, exactly what the producers want.

Depending on the show, it can help or hurt the contestants. Most times, black folks won't vote against each other, but at the same time, the clique is a lot more apparent.

Ooooh!! Thank you, girl cause when I turned on the TV to watch it, the credits were rolling. Me and my mama were UPSET, lol. Is Gerry in that alliance with Josh 'nem?

tmiller110 07-15-2002 10:19 AM

Gerry is kind of working everyone...I like Gerry though...he told Danielle what Roddy said about her (Roddy said he didn't trust her).....He's in an alliance with just about everyone..

carolyne 07-15-2002 11:37 AM

I think that Lori was stupid for letting Gerri get the veto power. It's not guaranteed that Gerri is going to save anyone~ especially since he has an alliance with everyone. If he changes Lisa's decisions, then he's stepping on her toe and putting her in a more difficult position by making her choose ANOTHER person to be evicted. But if Lori let Marcellas get the power, he was going to save her and Lisa would have had to pick someone else. I want Marcellas to stay, but I think that Lori should have been trying to do what was best for her.

tmiller110 07-15-2002 05:10 PM

I believe that if Gerry takes either of them off, Lisa will pick Danielle.......what do you think?

You might be right. We'll see tomorrow....

Dionysus 07-18-2002 11:30 AM

Gerry didn't sit well with me last night. I don't believe the things he said.

And....WTF? What's up with every kissing Josh's a$$? Do they see something in him that I don't? He's a cross between BB2's Justin and RW3's Puck.

carolyne 07-18-2002 11:47 AM

I'm proud of Gerry for being strong enough to stick with his decision to take Marcellas off of the chopping block. It would have been funny as hell if Lisa had put Josh on in Marcellas' place. For some reason, people are giving Josh a lot of power. I can't wait to see him go.

SeriousAKA 07-18-2002 05:51 PM

I wish she would have put Josh up!!! He needs to be out! Why oh why is anyone listening to him? Marsalles is definatley going to shake things up and so is Danielle!!!

Why was everyone crying (including me) over the fiance story? It was beautiful but Marsallies did a GOOD thing by telling the girls that story!!!

Danielle is SMART!!! Keep 'em laughing and they'll never know waht hit them! Make them all think you're on their side, and you've got it girl!!!

carolyne 07-20-2002 09:32 PM

I'm so glad that Marcellas put Josh up for eviction. Now we just have to see who's going to win the power to veto the nominations. Who would you like to see get it? Who don't you want to get it? Who, if anyone, should be saved? What would be the worst, or best, scenario?

SeriousAKA 07-21-2002 01:05 PM

Which one got voted out? I missed last night's episode.

straightBOS 07-21-2002 03:10 PM

No one was evicted the other night. Marcellas, head of household put Josh and Tonya up for eviction. He made it clear that it was really about getting Josh out and Tonya was up simply because you have to nominate two people.

Personally, I think he should have chosen Josh and Chiara so that Roddy would to choose between his woman or a male advantage in the alliance. That way, the power of veto becomes that much more important to the winner. I believe that Danielle needs to win veto or she will be chosen to replace Tonya.
I tihnk the alliance might be willing to give Gerry another shot if Josh is booted because no one seems to be interested in welcoming Danielle or Jason into the fold.

vanda 07-22-2002 11:05 AM

From other postings all over the 'net, it looks like Danielle won the veto. I'm worried because she seems to be falling into Josh's web

Why do you think she's falling into Josh's web? I don't think she cares about anyone in the house. She is doing her own thing.

CrimsonTide4 07-22-2002 06:17 PM

Not that I watch the show, but . . .

In another black eye for reality TV, a contestant on "Big Brother 3" got arrested in late-May for drunk driving, but was still included in the cast of the CBS prime-time show, which debuted earlier this month, The Smoking Gun has learned.

In fact, while the pending criminal case against contestant Chiara Berti was scheduled for arraignment last Friday morning (7/19) in Los Angeles Superior Court, the 25-year-old New York woman was ensconced with her fellow cast mates in the Big Brother house on the grounds of CBS's Studio City compound, just six-miles--and 13 minutes--from the Van Nuys courthouse where Berti's case was called at 9:35 AM.

Berti was arrested by California Highway Patrol officers at 2:40 AM on Sunday, May 26. She spent about five hours in custody at the Van Nuys jail before being released on $2500 bail. On June 11, Berti was formally charged with three misdemeanors: driving under the influence, driving with a blood alcohol content above California's .08 limit, and driving without a license. Her attorney, Sherman Ellison, told TSG that Berti's case was "very likely to settle," lawyerspeak for "she'll probably take a plea."

Ellison said he believed Berti got arrested while she was in Los Angeles for the final stages of the Big Brother audition/screening process. Ellison recalled that following Berti's arrest, a lawyer representing Big Brother expressed concern to him that the drunk driving case could "have interfered with her availability for the program." Ellison said that he assured the show's representative that the criminal matter would not be a hindrance since he would be able to appear in Berti's stead at court hearings. CBS officially announced the "Big Brother 3" cast on July 5.

Berti's arraignment was originally set for June 20, but, at Ellison's request, was postponed a month (Berti was not present for the June appearance in Van Nuys). Last Friday, when Berti's case was called, Ellison asked Judge Alvin Nierenberg if he could approach the bench. Joined by prosecutor Harvey Crespy, the trio had a whispered, off-the-record discussion, one that clearly dealt with Berti's unavailability and Ellison's desire for another continuance (at one point, a TSG reporter heard Ellison say, "Survivor-type series").

After Nierenberg suggested rescheduling the arraignment for August 28, Ellison asked for more time, noting, "Please, for September, to be safe." Nierenberg rejected Ellison's request for a September 9 appearance, instead scheduling Berti's arraignment for September 3. The judge noted, "First a month and then more and more. You want five, then six. I'm not a department store, please don't. Make sure she's back and bring in proper documents." But Berti's availability for her September 3 arraignment will, of course, hinge on the marketing executive's "Big Brother 3" success, since the show does not end until early-October, when the last remaining houseguest is awarded $500,000.

Though the CBS show only debuted July 10 (the one-hour episodes air on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays), it is already pretty clear why the network and executive producer Arnold Shapiro tabbed Berti (despite her pending criminal charges). Like most houseguests, she is young, attractive, and not averse to scheming. In just two short weeks, TV viewers (and fans watching 24/7 coverage broadcast on the Internet) have seen Berti shower with another woman, frolic topless, and share her bed with a stud named Roddy.

In short, the Northeastern grad seems to be a dream contestant. Though, in a Q&A on the CBS web site, Berti acknowledged some apprehension about being placed in the TV spotlight. Asked about her "biggest fear" regarding the program, Berti replied, "The exposure is something I am definitely not used to. Although I am pretty open about stuff, I fear what might get out."

During last year's Big Brother run, contestant Justin Sebik was booted from the show after he put a knife to the throat of a drunken female contestant and asked--he says jokingly--"Would you mind if I killed you?" After his expulsion, it was learned that Sebik had been arrested five times (three busts for simple assault), though in each case charges were dropped.

TSG disclosed that two of the show's central contestants--Mike Malin and Hardy Hill--had rap sheets. Malin pleaded no contest in 1997 to three misdemeanors stemming from his scheme to infiltrate a Hollywood studio and surreptitiously obtain video and photographs of a top secret movie production. Malin was sentenced to three years probation, fined $100, and ordered to perform 400 hours of community service. Hill was nabbed in Pennsylvania in 1999 for driving under the influence (his blood alcohol level was .196, nearly twice the state's legal limit). He was placed on probation for one year, fined, directed to perform 35 hours of community service, and ordered to attend "DUI classes" and a "victim impact panel."

vanda 07-22-2002 06:40 PM

Chiara is just trouble period! Last week she told the houseguests and the many who are watching the live feeds about her affair with a wealthy guy who has a bipolar wife. CBS had to hurry and set things straight. Even though she had a code when she told his name, she told everyone what the code was and the chat rooms went berserk with speculation!

The reason I think Danielle may be listening to Jason is because she did think about vetoing his eviction thinking he may help her out in the future. That would be highly unlikely considering Jason is a weasel of the worst kind.

SeriousAKA 07-25-2002 05:29 PM

What is Daniell up to? Did you see when she and JOsh were talking? I'm sure they're going to boot Josh and Gerry is next!!

SweetestDiva 07-25-2002 07:43 PM

First of all, let me say that I am officially in love with Marcellas, lol. I think he is SO adorable, and I was cracking up at him and his alcohol last night.

Secondly, I am so disappointed in Danielle. If she really believes that nominating Marcellas had nothing to do with his race/sexual orientation, she is just stuck on stupid. There is not that much naivety in the world. And then to consider keeping Josh in? And THEN to try to convince Marcellas to boot Gerry???? After what Gerry did for Marcellas, he would be a fool to kick him out this early. I guess I just assumed Marcellas and Danielle would work together, but she is completely out for her own... I don't know yet if it will work for or against her. Please, please, please, PLEASE let Josh be gone tonight!!

LOL:D
Girl, I thought I was the only one that was in love with Marcellas. He is sooooooooooo sweet and adorable and just plain hilarious. I wonder who got the boot tonight. My professor kept us until 8:45 so I missed it!!!!

mccoyred 07-26-2002 11:22 AM

Josh

Why did everyone PUNK OUT?? They had the chance to give the jerk the boot!

Also, who was it that was feeling up the girl who got evicted? It was very perverted :o

SeriousAKA 07-26-2002 02:52 PM

No really! Why didn't theyvote Josh out?!?!? Who do you think Roddy will nominate?

vanda 07-26-2002 09:44 PM

osh was the one who hit Tanya on the butt as she was leaving. If Danielle doesn't wise up, she will be soon sitting with Julie talking about the coulda shoulda wouldas. She voted to evict Tanya. She is a total fool if she doesn't think Josh wouldn't turn on her in a moments notice.

carolyne 07-28-2002 11:01 PM

Why was Roddy banging on Amy like that? I thought that they got along.

I really hope that Marcellas gets to stay in the house.

Pepsichick 07-29-2002 01:47 PM

The house made a bad decision in not kickng out Josh. It's going to come back to haunt them. As for Marcellas, he's just a little over the top for me!:) BUT I hope he wins the private dinner because I would love to see how Roddy would react if he was picked to dine with him.!;)

vanda 07-29-2002 06:08 PM

Do you guys go to the BB3 clubhouse site? They give you the spoilers there. It tells you so much more than what the hourlong show does.

SeriousAKA 08-01-2002 11:50 AM

Do you think the houesemates will follow suit and vote Marcellas out? I hope not! If everyone dislikes Amy as they say, please get her out! I must agree with Amy, KiKi is a ho!!! A stank one at that! What do ya'll think about Danielle and Justin's alliance? Is Marcellas in it too?

thesweetestone 08-01-2002 03:18 PM

Danielle talks to much. She basically told Jason and Marcellas everyone she has an alliance with. I do agree that the couples need to go.

SeriousAKA 08-02-2002 02:53 PM

Now that GErry has won HOH, what do you think will happen? Who do you think he'll put up? My guess is either one of the couples OR the 2 chicks.

Jason is her only alliance and Marcellas for as long as he's in the house. She was telling them who they should get on their side to divide the couples.

AKA2D '91 08-04-2002 09:42 PM

I started watching last week.

I take it there are 2 couples in the house. Okay, the dude that talks in his sleep and his chick are up for eviction.

Gerry said this was like playing chess and that he put up the Queen and the Knight for eviction.

Saturday, for the competition. I was tripping that Marcellis didn't eat fried chicken livers (he must not eat gumbo or dirty rice...lol). My mother came in the room and saw he had to eat that and she was like, "he should easily win that". That nedro had me rolling, but he was a trooper. I think he got mad cool points with that.

thesweetestone 08-05-2002 05:46 PM

Eric talking in his sleep is really spooky. there is no way in hell I could sleep with him. I hope he is the that is one evicted.
