ZTA tatoo...
If you were to get a ZTA tatoo were would you put it and what would it be? Would you even get one? I kinda stole this thread but I wanted to hear what my sisters think about a tatoo with our letters. :)
|
I think that if I were to get a tattoo, I'd probably do a tiny strawberry or a crown, not letters. Since our letters are not 'Greek -looking" I wouldn't want something thinking they were my initials or the initials of an ex or something.
I don't know where I'd put it - ankle or lower back probably. |
I'd probably get the five-point crown. I don't like tattoos so I'd put it in a place that you couldn't see like on my hip.
|
A few of my college sisters got tattoos while I was in school. Two of them got crowns, one of the back and one on the ankle. I also had a few get strawberries on their toes and stomachs.
Don't know if I would ever have the nerve to do that, but if I did I would get it on my back. I once went to a tattoo parlor to look at getting my belly pierced, they had a picture of a strawberry with a big pink ribbon tied around it. I figured a zeta had probably been there!!!:p |
I don't think I could ever actually GET a tattoo, but I know what I would get if I ever got up the nerve....
A crown with a white violet laying in front of it. On my lower back. ZLAM, Allison ZTA Iota Nu "A lifetime's not too long to live as friends." |
I have one on the inside of my right ankle. It is ZTA in blue below a dark yellow 5-pointed crown that is outlined in blue. The whole thing is about the size of a quarter. (A band-aid covers it if needed.) My grand little sis has ZTA in very pretty cursive script on the inside of her ankle. It is no bigger across than a dime and is very dainty. She says that people rarely notice it.
I don't regret getting mine. That said...there are many people that disapprove of tattoos and I hate the fact that they may think less of the Fraternity due to my body art. I'm glad I don't have it in a private place though. I know of some sisters whose ex-boyfriends could verify their *ahem* intimacy with a Zeta because of their graphic description of the tattoo and its placement. For me, and ON me, Zeta really is forever. |
OK, well I don't EVER plan on getting a tattoo because I don't do pain, but if I ever did, I would get a crown on the small of my back. One of our new members got one and it looked awesome (and she was actually worried that she would get in trouble with the sisters for having it, but we didn't care). Some of our girls have strawberries, and a lot have our chapter mascot, the ladybug. I would never want our actual letters in a conspicuous place because what if I have a night of drunken stupidity while I'm on spring break or what if I sing some horrible kareoke one night? I wouldn't want to represent Zeta in a bad way, and my lavalier I can take off.
|
If I ever got one, and I don't think I would...piercings are more my thing...I'd get a cown on the small of my back. My grand-little has a tattoo there and it looks really awesome, although she said it hurt really bad ouch!

I came to the 25th anniversary in March and had dinner at the house in April when I came to Nac for the Big Dip (mentor ring ceremony) and to speak at a conference at SFA. Jennifer Chappell and I were interviewed for TV for the Big Dip. I'm still very active in Zeta as the panhellenic delegate for the Dallas Area Night Alumnae chapter, the panhellenic advisor for Gamma Phi/UNT, founder/advisor for the ZTA Mothers Club of Greater Dallas, and am on the committees for Texas Zeta Day 2003 and our annual ZTAF/Komen fundraiser. (And yes, I do have a life other than Zeta. I am married, have 2 kids and work full-time for a large national Radio network. But I still have so much fun with Zeta that I make time for it. When I got my tattoo, you had to drive to Moscow to get one. The tattoo "artist" was some creepy guy named "Shaky Bob" who showed me his lightning bolt! I think you can figure that one out. A guy friend went with me to get one, too, and I'm SO glad he was there. I didn't mean to write so much but apparently my caffeine has kicked in for the day. :) Tell me about yourself. You can e-mail me directly at Stacy.Gannon@abc.com if you like. ZL, LaRue |
getting a tattoo...
I am thinking about getting a small crown on the small of my back but I can't decided on what I want it to look like. Do any of you who have ZTA crown tattoo's have pictures or websites that would have some ideas, if so it would sure help![COLOR=teal]
|
I'm for sure getting one next year; a five-point crown in the small of my back. At my chapter it used to be a big tradition to get a crown tattoo when you're a junior or senior. That faded for a while, but now we're bringing it back!:D
|
i was thinking about getting one on my lower back thats a strawberry with a crown on top :) i cant draw though so if anyone can help me out with some designs I would love it!! thanks

I'm seriously thinking about getting a tatoo. Just recently I decided to get something related to ZTA. I want a crown, but don't know what to put w/ it. I like the idea of a white violet in front of it. That's really neat!!! It's odd I checked the message board now, w/ the decision made to get the tatoo recently. :D
|
Actually, I have 2 zeta tatoos. One is a circle of white violets with ZTA in the center, then my second is on the small of my back and it is a strawberry with a small vine coming from either side with 2 crowns.
|
I'm new to the site, but wanted to bring back this topic! I have a ZTA related tattoo as well. My big sis and I got tattooed together while attending Centennial Convention in Richmond! :D
I love dolphins, so mine is a dolphin wearing a 5 pointed crown. It is on my hip, and is easily concealable. |
I was really thinking about this the other day... If I were to get one it would be crown with a white violet to the left and a strewberry to the right but the crown would be in front of both with ZTA in the center of the crown. I want it to be small....
|
Funny story... I won the award for most likely to get a Zeta tatoo at semi-formal this weekend!!!! Kind of funny!!! :D
|
I designed mine:
Its a turquois heart inside of a five point crown with small ZTA in the middle It is right about whre your badge would be on a shirt :) I keep it covered for the most part but its a symbol to me that ZTA is always in my heart. :) Zeta love |
tattoos
you guys are much braver than i am. i had fun reading everyone's thoughts and there are some really neat designs/ then i started thinking that some day some of you might be a grandmother with a tattoo, and then i tried to imagine my grandmothers with tattoos . do you think that by that time it will be faded, will you cover it up or wear it proudly?
|
I usually get mine touched up when its fading really significantly. I think that is something that I will do for as long as I feel the need to. It's kind of a grooming thing for me, if your tatoo doesn't look presentable then you are less presentable.
I belive that I will always were my tatoo proudly because it is something that is so imprtant to me. I think of it as my permenant badge. When I notice it each day it reminds me that I am representing ZTA and that's not something that stopped when I left college. ZTA made such a difference in my life not only because of the bonds I have made (and continue to make) with other women as sisters but because of the standards that ZTA has help me set for myself. For me, our creed is one of the most beautiful literary works that I have ever come across and I simply try to live by it each day. I have several reminders to help me do that, including my tatoo :) ZL |
Last Saint PAtrick's Day I got a white violet on my inner ankle in honor of a sister that had died on that day the year before. It has double meaning to me from that and I can share either with people. I found the white violet was a lil less presumptious from people that do not understand the 5 pointed crown. I never get asked, so you think your a princess or something? I love my white violet and definitely reccomend it.
|
I didn't get this but in my chapter several of the girls got a strawberry that is encircled by a crown. It was really cute. I don't really know how else to describe it, but hopefully you get the idea!
:) Amy |
Your ideas are so cute!! I almost want to go out and get a tatoo now!!... I think I will wait a few years though... but i really like the idea of the cursive ZTA (that is really small).. but we will see!!!
|

My little sister got a tattoo of the swirl crown on her neck in turquoise & i'd have to say it is pretty amazing!
I really want one on my foot :) |
Here's a Zeta tattoo that two of my friends got:

For my second tattoo I really want to get something related to ZTA.
I have just about decided on getting the five links (taken from the crest) on my left wrist. It would be something that is small enough to cover with a bracelet or watch, but somewhere that I will see everyday to remind me of my commitment to ZTA! |
