New DMB CD
Since the new DMB cd "Busted Stuff" comes out on the 16th. Are GCs excited for the release?
|
I'm BESIDE myself!!!!!! Just wait until gphi2k2 and amycat find this thread. They'll be posting up a storm.
|
I can HARDLY wait!!!
|
I pre-ordered the CD...It should be sent to me by the end of the week...
|
I hope they go back to their roots and get rid of that god awful producers of their. I first saw them in 94 and loved them. I was greatly dissapointed when they released everyday, which suck. Sorry, I'm still on a withdrawal from lack of new Phish shows. :(
|
I so agree with the Everyday comment. The only song I really like on there is Everyday. Besides that it does not sound like them at all! But Busted Stuff sounds already like it will be awesome! I already love where are you going and I hear Bartender will be on this one!!!!! That is my absolute fav! :) I just hope they bring back there smooth music sequences in this one. It would be awesome.
:) Anything for Dave! :) |
what all songs will be on this one?
Obviously Busted Stuff will be....will Big Eyed Fish & Grace is Gone? Those are two of my favs from the Lillywhite sessions. |
stoked!
i'm so super excited for this cd - and my very first ever concert this summer.
i kinda liked everyday - more than btcs anyway - my fav on everyday is angel! |
DMB DID get rid of Glen Ballard, Everyday's producer for Busted Stuff.
Track listing for Busted Stuff is: 1. Busted Stuff 2. Grey Street 3. Where Are You Going 4. You Never Know 5. Captain 6. Raven 7. Grace Is Gone 8. Kit Kat Jam 9. Digging A Ditch 10. Big Eyed Fish 11. Bartender And to the couple of people I promised Lillywhites to, my IMMENSE apologies for how long its taking me, had issues with CD having been stolen, finally got a new one and then burner issues... I should have it all worked out soon tho and lillywhites PLUS bonuses will be in mail very soon. |
Before these crowded streets was the best studio album they made in my opinion....Dreaming Tree....Spoon......PIG?!?!?!
PNP into Rapunzel Halloween Stay (Greatest song when performed live...makes ya wanna dance!) Damn guys.... |
I will tell you guys how the CD sounds when I get it...And if anyone needs a copy of Lillywhite Sessions..I can burn ya one, just PM me.

5 days and counting until the release of Busted Stuff!

According to everyone who has already heard the cd it's supposedly not as good as TLWS

Kind of a BTCS feel to it. |
good, i guess.
i've not gotten to hear it (obviously) and while I loved LWS, it was pretty damn depressive, but really with the lyrics it'd be hard to be anything but... For example, my two favorite songs are Big Eyed Fish and Grace is Gone....Suicide and alcoholism....it'd be hard to imagine a groovier beat to those themes. Whatever happened to naming the song Busted Stuff (smack my bitch) ?!?!? Amycat? |
namign the song busted stuff??
i think i'm not following. busted stuff is actually probably my LEAST favorite song on the album. Bartender is my favorite and I LOVE the lyrics to You Never Know. :) A |
way back before LWS ever leaked out, DMB had discussed a song titled Smack My Bitch, and then said it was going to be called Busted Stuff (smack my bitch), but then it came out only as busted stuff.....do you know why that is? i assume because of the foul name of it, but....
just curiouis if you knew......do you remember when all that was? |
Hmmm. I don't know. I don't think I ever heard that--or heard it in any context other than Dave's ramblings-- you know how he is.
but if i find out, I'll let you know. Isn't there another song w title or refrain already smack my bitch? that's probably why. I'd guess it was Dave thinking he was being funny when he said it. |
i'd read it off their website.
|
I heard on this album that DMB went back to their funkier roots, like with their previous albums. Everyone has their own personal preference. Just b/c you think an album is s#@!, that doesn't mean that everyone else will hate it. Take it with a grain of salt...

Over at Nancies though it seemed a lot of people felt that way....so I didn't want anyone with TOO high of hopes.....plus if you expect less and get average, it still seems better...
|
I am SO psyched for this disc to come out. I agree with Amycat, Busted Stuff is one of my least favorite songs from LWS. But really, as long as it doesn't sound like everyday (which I didn't hate, but it wasn't the Dave I know and love) I'll love it. He jams out more in these songs...at least, he does in the LWS. The thing with that disc, as much as I loved the songs, is that they were all so damn depressing! Honestly, whenever I was a little bit depressed, I'd put on the disc and by the end, I'd be just on this side of suicidal. It'll be nice to hear those songs with a less morbid tempo.
I was going to pre-order it but I didn't want to take the risk of not having it in my hands on the day it comes out. Wonder if it's unprofessional to sit at my desk with my headphones on for an hour.... |

Over at Nancies they like to see the DOWNSIDE of everything. I'd fall over if someone over their was actually content with DMB. LOL |

LOL!!! If they didn't like it, then they wouldn't have anything to b!@$% about.... |
Does anyone know the origin of this performance?
'Everyday' can grow on you after a while.
I'm sure some of you have heard Dave and EmmyLou Harris perform "Long Black Veil." The first time I heard it was live w/ her, two years ago in nashvegas. I've downloaded this song, but before he sings, he's introduced by a male voice, then Dave says, "...thank you, thank you, thank you, Johnny Cash,...introduce the next person who's gonna help me get this right, Ms EmmyLou Harris." or something to that extent. Is this performed at some J. Cash Tribute, or FarmAid or what? |
ok so here's my little dilemma... i preordered the cd, but i'm going on vacation starting this sunday! i'm not gonna get my hands on the cd even though it'll be sitting here at my house for a week! hopefully i will be able to get my cousin to buy it when it comes out but i'm not sure he's all that into dave... i'm so impatient it's not even funny!
|
Hopefully, you get a chance to listen to it! I'll be thinking of you when I'm listening to it!! Have fun on your vacation!
|
thanks! :)
|
You're welcome! :)
|
2 days and counting until the release of Busted Stuff!
|
I am totally buying it at midnight on the 16th--tower records on is 1/2 block from my house! lol

Hi Dave Fans
As I write this, I am listening to Busted Stuff the new album. I just went to my neighborhood CD Warehouse and asked if they were going to have a midnight sale tommorrow. Clerk is all no, it's already in. I'm all like I can buy it NOW!! Clerk is all yeah. So of course Dave came home with me. One day after my birthday.:p :D Had I waited till Tuesday, I could have gotten it for $10,but no matter.
Now for my review, I'm really dissapointed in Busted Stuff and Grey Street. To me they lack that certain something. I'm especially disappointed in Grey Street because they totally jammed on it when they were here in May. Where are you going- I liked this song when I heard it in may. However, it's going to grow very annoying since it is on the Mr Deeds soundtrack. It won't be as annoying as I Did It or The Space Between, but it will be this summer's annoying song. You never know- love it. Heard this song in concert also. Captain-Old school, hardcore Dave fans are going to hate this version. They'll feel that Dave is still selling out to RCA. I love this version. It's really jazzy and mellow. Raven- the first time I heard this, I hated it. Could not stand. Dave went and changed the tempo a bit and I find myself kind of liking the song now. Grace is Gone-has a country and westren aspect to it. I can totally see people line dancing to this in some C&W bar. I like it. I always increase the number of drinks it will take before he goes on his way Kit Kat Jam- a total dance around the house song. Like it Digging a Ditch-see Captain Big-Eyed Fish- my first favorite song off the album. Have been playing it non-stop since I got the album. Classic Dave. Bartender-see Captain Overall, I really like the album. It's definatly a step up from Everyday. Grey Street could have been better. It's not up to Crash or Under the table and dreaming standrads, but it a good solid album |

1 more day until Busted Stuff!
|
i know i am going to offend a lot of you, but in VA, esp. Charlottesville, DMB is so overrated. People with the DMB RCKS license plate at UVA...that is a BIT MUCH!!!!!!!!!!
