Pittsburgh PA Greek Chatters
 

I know theres a lot of us, and from reading the "Pitt People Come Forth" thread, there are quite a few of us suffering through this weather in Pittsburgh.

Maybe we could all get togehter some time in Oakland (pretty central to the Pittsburgh area, wouldnt you think?)

I would just love a chance to hang out with some other greeks this summer!!!

i'm actually in the burbs, but every once in a while i catch enough free time to chill in oakland with my friends... and if you'll have me and i can manage it, i'd love to join y'all... i mean.. yinz ;) (sorry i visited south carolina and memphis all within one week and i picked up this y'all thing and i can't get rid of it!!! :D)

okay now, who wants to take responsibility for planning this?
And what time of the day is better for people? What area? Oakland is probably best.
For me personally, i work every week day until 4:15, but my schedule is super open this summer so anytime after that or on the weekends :O)
This could definately be fun..... i could bring my digital cameras and take some pictures to post.

I'm good after 7 on the weekdays, or this coming weekend (12th - 13th - 14th). The next 2 weekends after that are toast.

5:30 weekdays, this weekend is a no, I have to take my youngest sister to Girl scout camp.
Any other day would be sweet.

Do yinz ( :) ) think it would be possible to get something together Tuesday or Wednesday of next week (July 16 or 17)?

I can arrange to be in Pittsburgh, and just as important, babysitting will be available for me on those days.

I am SO EXCITED to get together with my 'burg people! :D

July 17th sounds good to me! I am finished with work and down in Oakland around 5 PM. Plus, I will be back from vacation with many tales to tell!

Ok, corny as it is, letters sound like a good idea. How else will we find each other? We could be like in a teen movie and have one of the guys carrying a flower and looking dreamy.....and flock to him. :)

well, i will sadly be up in chautauqua ny next week (sadly only cause i'll miss out meeting everyone if you get together then cause chautauqua is like heaven to me!) hope :cool: you all :cool: have fun, and next time i'll try and be there!

I just read this thread and would love to join you all for a GC get together. I'm generally home from work around 6:30 - 7:00. I'm in Squirrel Hill, so that is a really short trip to Oakland for me and my weekends are free as far as I know so far, but that changes pretty quickly sometimes.

I won't be able to make it on a weekday... :( That and I'm having hand surgery on the 9th (this tuesday!) and won't be able to drive. Take lots of pictures for me! Let's plan something for in the fall, too! That way the Thiel Greekchatters not from the area can come, too! :D

Okay, Im free Wed the 17th as well....

Perhaps we can just plop a big sign on our table that says "GC." I'm in favor of Mad Mex, myself.

Oh if you really want I can dig out my football jersey with letters - and yes this IS as scary as it sounds.

the only bad thing about Mad Mex is that it's often incredibly crowded, to the point of being uncomfortable. especially happy hour time
although i haven't been there on a summer wednesday night.
but if that's where everyone wants to go... :)

Probably wearing letters wouldn't be a good idea (much as I'd love to get a group shot of us all in letters), so maybe we could meet somewhere like in front of the Student Union (5th Avenue and Bigelow Blvd.)?

I graduated, and Zelda's was gone before I even got there! :D You're an old timer! I've never seen Zelda's.
Now for us modern Pitt people, let's mourn CJ's. The land of underage drinking. But Thursday (aka unofficial Greek night) at Peter's makes up for it. And poor old Cumpie, but I never really loved that place anyway. Geez they're cutting down on the bars!

I'm looking forward to this. Meeting in front of the union is a good idea, then we can all agree where to go. :D

Ack - CJ's = the most disgusting bathrooms I've ever seen. And I've been to a lot of redneck bars, so that is quite a statement.

The student union is a better idea - I was assuming Mad Mex would be less crowded in the summer, but I am probably craving a spicy spinach burrito so badly that my brain is going ;). How about 7:00 so those of us who have to work can run home & change into "fun clothes"?

I'm down for around 7:00 o'clock. I can go for anywhere so let me know!!

Steph, that would be great! I think we're planning on going to more of a restaurant type place, not a bar so you will be fine. :)

okay so we're going to be on the fifth ave side of the union. Everytime I say meet in front of the union to someone that doesn't go to pitt, they always end up on the side by bigelow.

good point, i was wondering that myself. I know what front of the Union means to me (oh land of the PiKAs glued to the steps there), but wasn't sure with everyone else.
