What's the weather like where you're at?

Brooklyn, NY: It's 6:00pm and it's 94 degrees outside!
The humidity makes it feel like 105. There is no relief in sight and I am going nuts.

Ok..I have to get a hold of myself

prayerfull 07-02-2002 07:55 PM

Thank God for Cali's Coastal Breezes

 It's a sunny 70 degrees here in beautiful Monterey Bay with coastal breezes, clear skies...The bay is calm and blue. Humidity is low...with fog at the coast most likely rolling through late tonight.

:D

Soror, I'm sitting here praying for rain...maybe it'll cool things off!

AKA2D '91 07-02-2002 09:03 PM

NOTTTTTTTT!

If you say your humidity is high, then you do NOT need ANY rain. That is going to make life MISERABLE!

You better stay inside until after the sun "goes down".

librasoul22 07-02-2002 10:58 PM

HOTTTTTTER THAN THE TOP OF THE PILLOW!!!

BEST believe I am going to the beach tomorrow!

Hey fellow Brooklynite Sexy Mocha - you know the Big Apple is baking one mo' 'gain today, no relief in sight for NYC until Friday. Tomorrow is gonna be pretty much like today and yesterday. I plan to stay indoors with the air conditioning at work as long as possible. Don't forget the H2O

Stay cool

gamma_girl52 07-03-2002 12:37 PM

'Clawd it is hot!

In the ATL right now @ 12:30 EST:

Gonna be a hot and muggy one today! It should get around 90 degrees, there's a smog alert and it will probably rain around late afternoon, which is so NOT good because it only gets more humid and gross :( This has been going on since last week and every day so far this week.

I've been staying inside...I'm afraid I'll melt out here or not be able to breathe...

Ideal08 07-03-2002 01:38 PM

Please stay hydrated!!!!

I love yall, ok, and I don't want none of my friends passin' out from heat stroke or dehydration. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER!!!!! That is the end of my sappiness.

It's hot as Hades up in this piece. Soror SexyMocha, Ohio is having the humidity issues, too. And lemme tell yall, Serenity burns MUCH gas when I run the air. I am not diggin' that about her at all. :( But I don't roll without air, I just can't do it, lol, I HATE THE HEAT!!! That reminds me of Toni B., I think I'll put her CD in the car. A sista is over here rambling, ok?

Why, yall, did this soror come to work yesterday, ok... she NEVER packs her lunch. NEVER!!! So I see her with this tupperware, and I'm like, whoa, what's goin on? She looked at me like I was crazy!! She said, "Soror, I know you don't plan on leaving the building today... with the humidity it's gonna feel like 105, and they said stay indoors if at all possible." I LMAO!!! And she was skeerious, too, lol. I wish yall knew her, lol, I STILL can't believe she packed her lunch yesterday.

Exquisite5 07-03-2002 02:13 PM

I feel like Noah! I wish it would stop raining! Ten people in
central TX have already died from flooding, pleeeeeeeeeeeaaase can the rain just go away?

RAIN RAIN GO AWAY, COME AGAIN ANOTHER DAY!

This is the only state that can go from drought to flood status in a week.

Black~n~Proud 07-03-2002 04:19 PM

I'm here in the Bronx, inside of an air conditioned house. But as far as it goes for outside, I hear that it's horrible. The temperature is supposed to be near 100 degrees. How awful!!!! I hope that it won't be like this for the 4th.

Sexy Mocha 07-03-2002 06:37 PM

I went outside today and felt like I entered the realms of hell.
(Mocha repeating over and over: "I should have taken Soror AKA2D's advice and stayed my a$$ inside until the sun goes down")
FeeFee, I'm with you when it comes to the H20....I can't get enough!
This heat is serious people:

(July 3) - Power outages left people without air conditioners to fight the July heat in parts of Colorado and Connecticut, and two deaths this week have been blamed on the stifling weather in St. Louis.

``The heat is playing havoc on people,'' said Gentry Trotter, founder of Cool Down St. Louis, fund-raising and referral group that has received more than 3,000 calls from residents in the past two weeks.

Temperatures were expected to rise into the 90s again Wednesday afternoon from parts of the West and northern Plains to the lower Mississippi Valley and much of the East.

New York City opened more than 300 cool buildings to the public Wednesday to provide relief from temperatures expected to approach 100. Humidity during the morning was a sticky 67 percent, the National Weather Service said.

``We're knocking on the door of record heat,'' said Dave Robinson, New Jersey's state climatologist. Triple-digit temperatures were possible; the record for the date at Newark is 105.

A transformer failure in Connecticut left about 12,000 residents of eight towns without fans or air conditioners during the night. Most were back on line Wednesday morning.

``The transmission system there is under a great deal of strain,'' said Connecticut Light & Power spokesman Chris Riley.

The New England power grid was on alert as the heat cranked up demand, with highs in the low 90s possible as far north as Portland, Maine.

In the West, about 700 customers of Xcel Energy lost electricity Tuesday in Colorado as a 12-day heat wave with highs in the 90s and record demand strained the state's biggest energy supplier.

Grand Junction, Colo., hit a record high on Tuesday of 103.

Two heat-related deaths have been reported this week in St. Louis, for a total of six in about a month. One victim had an air conditioner that didn't work, and the other had no fans or air conditioning, authorities said.

Stop hiding inside...come on out and suffer like the rest of us :p

Dancerella1908 07-04-2002 10:52 PM

It's 11:00p.m. here in the Motorcity where the temperature is at 82 degrees. So just imagine it in the daytime!! It has been in the 90's all week. Needless to say I have the central air on full blast!!

For real! I know my electric bill is going to be SICK, lol. I just moved into a new apartment two weeks ago...I haven't cut the air off since then :D

For the NY and Jersey folks...whew! Please take it easy out in that heat! Matter of fact, let me just extend that to everybody!!

To Sexy Mocha, FeeFee, and Black~n~Proud....

We all know about the NYC HHH; hazy, hot (super hot if you ask me), and humid. Hopefully it'll go away within the next couple of days. Other than that, what else can we do besides drink lots of water, blast some air conditioning and stay in the house. Y'all should meet my aunt. She loooooves this type of weather and she'd drag you out of the house to hang out with her. I'm just glad I live in Queens and she lives in the BX, b/c she'd have to die if she made me come outside of my house in 90+ degree weather......

LOL @ lil_sunshine - I went over to my uncle's house in the Bronx for the 4th of July and I think that he got the holidays mixed up. Not only was there food cooking on the grill, but homeboy got up early that morning to turn on the stove and cook collard greens, yams, macaroni and cheese, etc. My aunt was like, what is wrong with my husband?? If it was 90 degrees outside, it had to be about 250 in the house. Poor uncle - he just wanted to make sure that his peeps get plenty of grub to eat ;) Bless his little heart :D

lil_sunshine 07-05-2002 11:33 AM

Dang!!!

I shoulda came to your uncle's house! I would've definitely appreciated the grub and had lots of fun!!!! :D :D :D

lil_sunshine 07-05-2002 11:58 AM

Well FeeFee....

I was sweating up a storm at home. But then again, I was doing housework (sweeping, mopping, washing dishes, etc.). I don't think I would've minded the heat too much if I were eating a full plate of some good ole-fashioned home cooking and had a liter bottle of frozen water...:D :p

aprilzeta 07-05-2002 12:21 PM
