Need to explain?

What are some things that you guys say that need to be explained?

Examples:
BFE
FUBAR
SBD

jonsagara 07-01-2002 10:39 AM

BFE == "Butt F*cking Egypt"
FUBAR == "F*cked Up Beyond All Recognition" (There are variations on the ending)
SBD == "Silent But Deadly" (? -- Not sure about this one)

ilovemyglo 07-01-2002 10:44 AM

SBD- Silent but deadly, in reference to flatuance that makes no sound but can kill you with the smell!

AOX81 07-01-2002 12:51 PM

I already knew what mine were...I was asking you guys if you had any that YOU had to explain to people.

The reason that I thought of this is because I had to explain to my mom what BFE was...that was fun. :)

My younger brother is the king of SBD. He is not allowed to ride in a car with me ever again!

jonsagara 07-01-2002 01:36 PM

Oh... well in that case...

PTFO == "Passed The F*ck Out"

Peaches-n-Cream 07-02-2002 12:36 AM

SOL
snafu

AngelPhiSig 07-02-2002 12:46 AM

Funny story, I was taking my sister to her bfs house in the south hills and we took this big round about way cos there was construction (SURPRISEFACE, construction in Pittsburgh?!) and she was like- this is the most fubar way of gettin here!

KillarneyRose 07-02-2002 12:54 AM

B.O.H.I.C.A. = Bend Over, Here It Comes Again!

snafu -- n : an acronym often used by soldiers in World War II: Situation Normal All Fucked Up

v : cause to be in a state of complete confusion

adj : snarled or stalled in complete confusion

That would be telling :D

IHTFP can stand for a lot of different things, but the two most commonly used are:

I Have Truly Found Paradise

and

I Hate This *ahem* Place

xok85xo 07-02-2002 03:26 PM

The funniest thing about this is!!! There is a guy in my classes this summer (AT U of L no less) who is from England and he was reading over my shoulder and asked me what all of these things are so I had to tell him. My face was read and I just wrote that one cause I couldn't bring myself to say it, then he didn't understand, so I had to explain
(Picture me, sitting at computer, head lowered, saying something about the female anatomy being in a certain state of being) he said 'OH, we just call that headlights on!' HAHAHA THought that was a new one for me!

Another English idiom: I asked the English mother of oneof my students what "git" means, as the characters in Harry Potter keep using it. She said that it's "the worst of white trash".

Oh, sorry for those who don't comprehend...-These Abbreviations Have Gotten Out Of Control!

Will words become superfluous online? It took me months to figure out LMAO ( and versions subsequent). If certain people are set on using such abbreviations, at least add a key in your profile or something to this extent!:)

SigmaChiCard 07-03-2002 07:15 AM

This is like 1984....are we all speaking newspeak?

aggieAXO 07-03-2002 07:21 AM

I am always saying VPL:

visible panty lines-I HATE those
