Is your fraternity or sorority having their national convention this summer? If so, let us know when and where?

p.s. If they already had it, post that too...blame me for not thinking of this thread earlier :).

Karnea, Delta Tau Delta's international conference, held every two years, will be August 7-11 in Los Angeles.

We will be having our 48th Supreme Chapter this summer; it will take place August 3rd – 7th. It will be held in Washington D.C. and will be staying at the historic J.W. Marriott. I know nothing of the of Washington D.C. besides the regular tourist stuff so if anyone has any suggestions for fun free time activities please let me know.

Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity's Grand Chapter covention will be held on august 8th-10th in New Orleans,Louisiana:D

Delta Delta Delta's convention is July 2-6 in Orlando, FL. I'm getting initiated there! :D

Delta Gamma's Convention is THIS weekend (June 27 - June 30...i think) in San Antonio, Texas.

Just arrived back from DPhiE convention last wednesday night. I was in Orlando from June 15-19. It was awesome. I hadn't been to a convention since 98, so it was a real treat. And the Magic Kingdom was awesome!

ZTA Convention June 27-July 2 in Tampa Florida! woo hoo!

KD's National Leadership Conference just finished up in Memphis, TN. We alternate NLC and Convention every year. Convention last year was at Disney's Coronado Springs and was awesome! We even had a party with the boys of Sigma Alpha Epsilon's National Convention, which was taking place at the same time (different resort).

And don't forget the awards your chapter won!!! :)

Everything Anni said was great....I just got back and had a blast and this year we got the chance to hang out with the PKA consultants!

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.'s 82nd National Grand Boule is July 6-12 in New Orleans, LA

It seems like a lot of groups have their conventions in Orlando. I know of at least five this year alone. I can't go this year, because of work, but I really want to go in 2004. :D

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, will be holding her 46th National Convention July 19-24, 2002 in Atlanta, GA.

Sigma Kappa National Convention is going on right now Jun 26 - Jun 30 in beautiful (and hot!) Scottsdale, Arizona.

I don't know what Convention # it is, but we just turned 90 in May!! :D

Speaking of all of the GLOs in Orlando... I got involved in a conversation with several individuals from various GLOs about a year ago at a CFEA conference. We were talking about having your convention (or whatever your org calls it) @ Disney World. They were talking about how difficult it is to promote it because you can't use anything Disney without permission. All of the articles they wrote about it that MENTIONED Disney World (which was probably all of them) had to be proofread by someone on Disney's staff. A few of them said they didn't ever want to go back there because of the hassle, but I think the attendees all enjoyed themselves! I just think Disney can be kinda psycho about stuff sometimes.

Sigma Pi National Convocation
 

Sigma Pi's National Convocation is July 30 through August 4th. We will be having our brother Paschal "Pappay" from Survivor coming to talk with us about his experience on the show. Our convocation is in Philladelphia.

Delta Zeta is celebrating 100 years of sisterhood at our National Convention on July 19-24th. We're holding the festivities in Oxford, Ohio, on the campus of Miami University where we were founded. :)

Beta Theta Pi is having their 163rd Annual Convention August 8-11 in Kansas City Missouri...I'm headed there as a Men of Principle Sophomore Fellow :)

Is Beta the only National GLO to have an Annual convention? Our website only says that we're unique in having one every year.

Sigma Nu's Grand Chapter is bi-annual. In off years we *DO* have a national convention. It's called the College of Chapters. It's essentially like going to Leadership Summer Camp. The last one was in Lexington, VA. We stayed in the dorms at Washington & Lee. Very awesome to have this in the place that your fraternity was founded. Our IHQ is there as well as many monuments to our founding.

I don't know if any of ya'll would be able to relate to this at all but it was a really moving experience to be able to stand on the field that our founders met on and decided to form Sigma Nu and say the Creed of Sigma Nu...

I digress...

Yes, we have a national convention of some sort every year!:D

Tri-Delt's is in DISNEY WORLD!!!!!!! July 2-6.

Every summer in the first week of August we have our Leadership training workshop...this summer its at Murray State.Its where all the top officers go for training and is broken down into subgroups such as all presidents, vp's, rush, pledge ed etc. Now every other year we have Grand Chapter which will be held in orlando next summer. Its where the new grand chapter officers are elected as well as amendments etc are voted on by a delegate from every chapter and alum chapter.

Alpha Delta Pi had their convention last year for their 150th aniversery (the first sorority ever) which was held in Atlanta, GA. This year though, we have our program called IMPACT. Which is a leadership seminar. It was held June 21st through the 23rd in Memphis, TN.

DPhiE's international convention is biannual however in the year inbetween we have Regional Leadership Conferences.

I know that Gamma Phi Beta had their convention here in DC over this past weekend.
For those coming to DC, I recommend M St, near Georgetown U, and Adams Morgan for (almost) all night street partying! Great area!
Quick question: When I was at the STL airport this weekend, I saw TOO many Greeks for something to not be going on. I saw Alpha Sigma Taus, AOPi's, and KKG's. Does anyone know what was going on with these sororities this past weekend???

AOII had Leadership Institute (even-year/laid back type of convention) in Nashville. AOII's International Convention (even year/main event) will be in Virginia next year.

AST held thier National Convention in St. Louis.

Beta Theta Pi was the first to hold Annual Conventions, dating back to the 1840's. There are only a few select years that we did not have our Annual Convention, mainly due to wars. Back then, we had Presiding Chapters and not a Board of Trustees and Officers. Interesting how things change.....

I know that Beta Theta Pi was the first to pioneer this, as we hold Business Conventions (voting by Chapter Delegates) annually, whereas most other fraternities and sororities hold Business Conventions bi-annually. Most other Greeks hold their "Conventions" biannually and hold a "Leadership" Conference of some sort on the off years.

I am sure now, that there are a few orgs. that hold annual conventions, however, that is not the norm.

PS, Beta's Men of Principle is our member/chapter education program that some of our Chapters have chosen to become (We chose education over going dry to prevent problems and to try and get back to our founding principles). This is similar to the Sigma Phi Epsilon Balanced Man program. It is a goal driven program which pushes chapters to be the absolute best on their campus, with incredible results. Most of our M.O.P. Chapters have really kicked ass....Nebraska to name one.

On top of our Annual Convention, we hold four M.O.P. Institutes for undergrads and several Beta Wilderness Challenges (7 days in pure nature, studying and living the Principles of Beta Theta Pi). This would be equivalent to other orgs. Leadership Conferences. Both of these are yearly, along with Convention.
