Summer Concerts

I just checked up on the summer concert tours - definitely some sick music coming through my area, and soon. What's everybody looking at for summer concerts?

The two big concert series that sound most appealing to me:

WARPED TOUR
-Bad Religion
-Reel Big Fish
-Bosstones
-NoFX
-MxPx
-Homegrown
-New Found Glory
-the Vandals
-about 60 more bands

Sprite's Summer Jam
-Jay Z
-311
-Nappy Roots
-Talib Kweli

I'll probably try to catch these two tours at some point , as well as Weezer (w/ Dashboard Confessional) in Chicago in July, and Jimmy Eat World when they're through later this month.

And I'm sure the Dave-heads will happily inform us of his tour, starting in September . . . anyone else got any good concerts coming up?

Well, Strung Out is on tour with Rufio, that should be a good show. The Ataris are playing a few SoCal shows im gonna see , then they hit the road in late august.

i'll be catching the Smokin' Grooves tour when it hits my area. It features Outkast, the Roots, and Lauryn Hill.

I saw the Pop Disaster Tour last weekend in Noblesville and it was phenominal....Green Day is wonderful. They were my favorite band of all-time growing up and may still be really...hard to say these days. Anyway, they played only 1 song from the last cd, and only 2 or 3 from the one before that....the rest was ALL OLD SCHOOL....and they played some OP.IV. to which is awesome...

And here I was dressed in AF and North Face amongst a million people looking at me because I didn't LOOK punk enough for them.....and who danced all night because he knew every word of every song Green Day had written prior to the last 2 albums...if it's on the first 4 it's mine

Anyway..Saves the Day was good, but I thought Blink 182 sucked, but I don't really like them very much so it's cool....

and Bonaroo is this weekend....anyone going?

I saw Green Day at X-Fest at the same venue last year I think. They pretty much kicked ass, set the drums on fire at the end of the set...

I've heard Blink 182 is no good live from several people.

I'm looking forward to The Who at Verizon in August, and thinking about going to the Boogie, in southern Indiana to see among other groups David Allan Coe and .38 Special

amycat412 06-18-2002 06:06 PM

:D I've seen DMB 4 times this summer so far.

damasa 06-18-2002 10:00 PM

Well, depending on what happens, I'm hoping to catch every band I want to see during Summerfest in Milwaukee, these bands include:

Our Lady Peace
The Gufs
Rush
OAR
Bela Fleck and the Fleckstones
Filter
G Love & Special Sauce
Lifehouse
Ben Folds

But, I'm willing to bet that I won't get to see most of these, so the first three or four are top priority.

I'll also be catching John Mayer when he comest to milwaukee in late july and I'll also be catching some Creed and DMB action.

This isn't exactly summer, but on November 9, 2002 (to you Sigma Kappa's- it is better known as Founder's Day) I will be Front Row at Pac Bell Park in San Francisco for the Rolling Stones final tour. Words cannot describe how excited I am!!!

Actually, they can....

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Greek Love,
Lil Snakey K

I am going to see them next thursday! :D I can't wait! Tonight I went to Jimmy Buffett but because I was the DD I had to stay sober. I'm also trying to work something out to get tickets to see DMB in August.

I think you know what I am going to say...

I am going to see the opening night of Rush's Vapor Trails Tour in Hartford, CT. Will be seeing them in PA the next night, then again when they come to Atlanta!

I have 5th row tix for PA and 12th for CT. YEAH!

sundevil2000 06-19-2002 03:05 AM

I have already seen Britney Spears, who by the way, puts on the most AMAZING show ever!!!! I can't wait until August 20 to see Eminem in his anger management tour.

Ginger 06-19-2002 01:37 PM

The only show I'm planning on seeing this summer is Nickleback at Summerfest in Milwaukee.

I was supposed to be going to the John Mayer show in Milwaukee too, but my ex took his tickets back and is going with his $%*&#@ new girlfriend now  Bitter? me? nah....

Check around, i know there are quite a few people that are trying to get rid of their john mayer tickets for that show....some people bought too many, some don't want to go, that kind of stuff. Check out the for sale bulletin in the UWM union, that thing is a gold mine!

They definitely could be worse - I've enjoyed them live, but sometimes they mail it in, I've heard.

They're not that 'interesting' live, though - pretty funny, but it's not like seeing the Vandals or the Aquabats (two superior live bands in similar genre).

damasa 06-19-2002 04:38 PM

I refuse to see Blink live again, that had to be one of the worst concerts I have ever experienced. I thought they sounded like shit and more. Just my opinion though.

I thought about it, but the idea of running into them there isn't a pleasant one. He and I are fine, I just don't want to run into the two of them. Besides, no one else I know wants to go, and I'm afraid to go to that neighbourhood by myself at night! (I've already been chased by some guy screaming at me down there...to "come party at my house, baby"

IowaHawkeye 06-23-2002 02:20 AM

I'm seeing John Mayer in Chicago now... my cousin sold us her tickets, sooo excited about that. I love him, plus I'm going with my sister, so it will be a blast!

John Mayer twice in one summer... yes :)

I love Saves the Day.

Damasa- I wish I had the opportunity to see G-Love!

But I do plan on catching Mayer in L.A. this August.

ACEOFDIAMOND 06-23-2002 01:24 PM

The Lifehouse show should be a good one too. There are so many bands/people that I want to see at Summerfest that there are too many to try to see. *sigh* I'll try to get to as many as I can, lol.

aprilzeta 06-24-2002 01:33 AM

I can't wait for July 17, to see Mary J. Blige's No More Drama tour.

APhi 06-24-2002 02:21 PM

Definitely want to see John Mayer. My boyfriend even said he'd go. He's usually more at home with a NOFX crowd than a DMB one but he's seems okay with it this time around.

In Denver he's playing at this new City Light Pavillion thing. It's basically an elaborate tent set up in the parking lot next to the Pepsi Center (home of the Avs.) Crazy thing is that John Mayer is the only person playing there that our generation would want to see. The rest of the summer is booked up with Barry Manilow, 80's band reunion tours, etc.
