I am a big fan of The Lion King, Aladin, and Tarzan...but that movie Lilo and Stitch looks pretty funny too. Who knows it might become on of my favorites. The previews always make me laugh. Anyone else thinkin about going to see it?

Optimist Prime 06-13-2002 01:55 PM

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
I think that many of us can say that when we watched the movie when we were young, we all wanted a garden of our own where everything was made out of candy. I'm 21 and still dream of that!

valkyrie 06-13-2002 02:03 PM

This is pretty silly, but I liked The Brave Little Toaster.

Dionysus 06-13-2002 02:04 PM

ThetaGirl1997 06-13-2002 02:42 PM

All of the Disney movies...especially The Lion King and Aladdin. I never liked Willy Wonka. The Oompa Loompas scare me...

SATX*APhi 06-13-2002 02:46 PM

I love all Disney movies. The Little Mermaid was once my favorite.

Unregistered- 06-13-2002 02:57 PM

I can't believe no one mentioned anything about The Muppets Take Manhattan!

An American Tail, The Goonies, The Land Before Time, and Both Rugrats movies are also some of my favorites.

You can bet $$$ that I'm going to be at the Lilo & Stitch premiere! I really love the fact that the producers used Hawaii as a backdrop to the movie...and I appreciate the fact that they did extensive research on the Islands...AND they used actual Hawaii people to do the voices.

juniorgrrl 06-13-2002 03:05 PM

I lover The Princess Diaries -need to pick up the dvd. I own Chicken Run on DVD- it cks!

BLUTANG 06-13-2002 03:16 PM

my fave kiddie movies are the new disney clasics (Lion King, Little Mermaid, Aladdin). However my favorite of all time is An American Tail. Even though i know feivel ends up with his family, i cry each and every time during the scene when he is tossed about the boat and lost at sea.

I agree...there's something about those little men with green hair, orange skin, and crazy overalls that just isn't right.
I love the Care Bears movies! My senior year, one of my sisters found them both at Walmart and we watched them a couple of days before graduation. We all started crying during the second one because it's the one where all of the baby care bears grow up and we were all emotional about graduating and growing up ourselves...I know, we're losers. :p ;)
I also love The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, the Toy Story movies, and A Bug's Life. :)

CutiePie2000 06-13-2002 04:13 PM

And from the 1800's....okay, 1968

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!
Remember the creepy Child Catcher? He scared the daylights out of me, but I had forgotten about it. One night while babysitting, I was watching the movie with my nephew....and now the Child Catcher is scaring a whole new generation of kids.

I also remember a scary Disney movie called "The Watcher in the Woods" with the grand dame of scary movies herself, Bette Davis!

Goonies, The Sandlot and Mary Poppins were my fav real life movies...and The Chipmunk Adventure, starring Alvin and the Chipmunks was my fav cartoon. I had the soundtrack on cassette tape and would drive my mom crazy singing all the songs! My favorite Disney cartoon is Sleeping Beauty.

The Muppets Take Manhattan is on HBO all the time!! My mom used to hate us watching all of those shows over and over and over and over. One day she got mad and said "why do you need to watch it when you know all the words?"

Starlet 06-14-2002 03:22 PM

My favs are the Care Bear movies, Goonies, Sandlot, Space Balls, Rainbow Brite, The Muppets Take Manhattan, Roger Rabbit--though I was initially scared of the evil guy, and Monsters, Inc. was adorable!

ok, so there is this one cartoon from disney, don't know the name. it is with mickey mouse, goofy, and donald duck. they all are going to go on a trip and mickey's house folds up into a trailer. its so cool. the whole way goofy is in the trailer as it becomes unhooked from the car. it rolls away and is a crazy adventure...
ah...childhood memories of my favorite cartoon.

APhi 06-30-2002 10:13 AM

Okay... I had to revive this thread because we went to see Lilo & Stitch last night. It was REALLY good. I laughed, I cried (I'm such a softie) and generally loved it. You know the greatest thing about seeing a kiddie movie in the theater is that you're surrounded by little kids who tend to talk really loudly as the movie is going on. Generally this would be annoying but when it's a cute little kid voice reacting loudly to the action on screen it's the cutest thing. :D

Side note: I'm really happy to see the evolution that Disney films are making. For a while it disturbed me how all Disney girls were drawn with the tiniest waists and these sureal Barbie doll figures. The older sister in this movie was a refreshing departure from that. She was drawn to look like a real woman and then was portrayed as independent as well as adored and pursued by the cute surfer boy. My friend also pointed out that they've improved the quality of animation for the main characters significantly. Stitch was a rather detailed creation.

One last additional rant: We went to the 9 o'clock show so the movie didn't let out til about 10:30 and we didn't get home til 11. Despite this there were babies... literally tiny babies and toddlers in the theater. Won't they be asleep half way through the movie anyway?

SuperSister 06-30-2002 12:42 PM

Mulan
The Little Princess
Muppets Take Manhattan
Follow That Bird (I can't believe that no one's mentioned this one yet!)
Harry Potter
The Secret Garden
Matilda
The Witches (Rould Dahl writes great books and they make good movies too, I wish they would turn some Susan Cooper books into movies)

I get to see Lilo and Stitch tonight, I am so excited! I can't wait for the veggie tales feature film to come out either. I love movies!

Emily

BlueBlue 07-15-2002 10:29 AM

I really want to see that new movie called The Contry Bears. Its about this little bear boy that is raised by humans. But one day his older brother tell him he doesnt really belong in the family...so he runs away to find his real parents. It looks pretty cute and i've heard rumors about Queen Latifa, Christina Augilera, Bonnie Raitt, and Eric Clapton making cameos. Anyone else seen the previews?

kara 07-15-2002 01:48 PM

Blueblue..

I saw the ABC special on it and it looks pretty good. Especially the modern country rock take they decided to take on. I didn't hear anything about the cameos though. That would be awesome if Eric Clapton did an appearance. Gotta love Clapton.

MooseGirl 07-15-2002 07:16 PM
