Ya Ya!
I saw it last night with some of my girls and I really liked it! Did ya'll get to see it yet? :D
|
I haven't seen it, but as I type this out, about 15 of my sisters went to the theatre to see the movie. I would have gone with them, but they are all 2 1/2 hours away. :( I can't wait to see it though!
|
I saw it with three of my closest friends last night and I loved it. They all say that in about 50 years, I'm going to be the one carrying around that oxygen tank.
I enjoyed it most because of the relationship Sidalee had with her mom. It really reminded me of how things are with mine. :) |
I haven't seen the movie yet (I want to take my mom) but I read the book and LOVED it! I'm a little afraid that the movie won't live up to the book and I'll be disapointed though. Has anyone who read the book seen the movie and if so what did you think?

Just got in from seeing it with some sisters!!! My big sis and I were cracking up the entire time. Her mom is sooo much like Vivi and mine is soooo much like Necie. LOL. Overall...I thought it was so cute. I even got a new quote out of it. "The only disease that could survive in our bloodstreams is alcoholism". LOL.

Saw it tonight. Hubby and I both loved the "kicking into next week" quotes.
Strange casting, the young Vivi looked like my youngest niece (and very much like her) and the next age Vivi looks like 2nd youngest niece--her sister (and is timid like her)!! Great movie! Yep, I could relate to the mother-dau, Southern women and sisterhood themes! Conner was a cutie! |
I saw it with my Mom! :D
I really liked it, and while the movie is not quite as fabulous as the book...I still really liked it and thought it was great. I also couldn't help thinking how much the child Vivi looked like that actress, Anna Chlumpsky (she played Vayda Sulfenfuss in "My Girl", with Dan Ackroyd, Jamie Lee Curtis and Macaulay Culkin). And Jack (Teensy's brother) kind of reminded me of Will, from "Will & Grace" (i.e. Eric MacCormack). Jack was a babe...too bad he, well, you know. Connor was charming. |
My girl goes to my school...i didn't think anyone rememered her anymore :) She was a senior and just graduated saturday I think.

I just so happened to make a road trip down to see my sisters this weekend and that was the first thing we did. About 9 of us went and throughout the entire theater you could hear us laughing! I sat right next to my grand big, and I'm glad I got to see the movie with my sisters! :)This week my mom and I are also going to see it!
I think the filmakers did a great job following the story line from the book. I know there were major changes. But hey if they followed the book exactly what fun would that be! ;) |
I just saw the movie today with my mom and sister. I did like it, but I expected it to be more comedic and not so much of a drama. I also thought it would focus more on the crazy things the Ya-Yas did growing up. Not what I was expecting but still enjoyable. :)

My mom and I read the book and saw the movie yesterday. We were a little disappointed in all that was left out.. I wanted to see an elephant not an airplane! Plus they left out one of my favorite lines from the book: " "We'll be back later. There's shrimp in the fridge, vodka in the freezer, and Oreos in the cookie jar. My house is your house." That's to be expected tho when books become movies. There was lots of clapping from the audience during the movie, def. a lot of fun!

I saw this movie tonight with my mom and sister. :D We all loved it!!!
Like AGDLynn, we died laughing at the "kicking into next week" part of the movie. Loved it! |
I may be the only one on this thread who didn't like the movie. I definitely won't see it again!
I think I should have read the movie reviews before I saw it... |
I saw it last night with my best friend. He hated it! but i LOVED IT! Total Chick Flick!

Ronnie :D |
Yay!
I saw this movie last Friday, with a couple of sisters, and i really liked it. It wasn't as great as the book, and the whole elephant to airplane thing confused me for a minute. Maybe that was just me though b/c I'm dumb like that! Anyway, I really liked it overall, just liked the book better. Also, I think I'm the only one, but I didn't like the guy who played Connor at all, and he didn't have that accent in the book....did he?
:D ;) :p |
I just saw Ya Ya with 9 of my Kappa sisters - it was great! and Ashley Judd is a Kappa so we all had a double connection! I would totally recommend the movie to anyone!
|
OK i LOVEED the Book! Movie was cute but not what i was expecting...the changes in the book threw me off ...the book was alot more powerful emotional wise then the movie...my sisters that i saw it with thought it was great but they didnt read the book first....oh well
the whole elephant thing was disappointing!!! i saw it with my lil sister, my grandbaby, and one of my phi sisters...after the movie we were prancing around the parking lot yelling Ya Ya..and taking silly pictures :) i want to go see it with my mom who is reading the book now...but now she is mad that i saw it first without her :( oh well..she will go anways hopefully :D YA-YA |
ha ha My mom wants to see it with me too, which is why I am not telling her I saw it already and I will just quietly go see it again! lol
:) Amy |
I love the book as well and the changes made me think too much, but I did enjoy it and will see it again I'm sure.
P.S. Can Ashley Judd be more beautiful...not possible! |
That my girl chick is hot.
|
Although I much prefered the book, I thought the movie was quite charming, though I thought some parts weren't necessary. My girls (sisters) loved it though . . .
|
Although I have already seen the movie, I went to see the movie the other night with my big sis, little sis and 2 of our A-Phi sisters. We had a blast. We kept relating characters to the different sisters who were with us. We had a lot of fun and everyone really liked the movie. :)

A year and a half later, I FINALLY got to see this movie. I absolutely LOVED it. Though it wasn't exactly what I thought it would be. Very good though - I cried and laughed.
A GREAT SISTERHOOD MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!! |
Love that movie! My husband bought it for me last year for our anniversary
The book is great too |
I saw it in the theater back in June 2002 and several times on cable. I just bought the book a few weeks ago and I have yet to read it (I will get around to it!).

The book is 10,000 times better than the movie, though I enjoyed the movie, too!
Happy reading! Annie :) |
