OK, here goes... <<calmimg myself down>>

I ran into someone in the mall yesterday with some Sigma Gamma Rho 'nalia on- so of course I approached her to say "Hi". She was with a couple of friends, but she stopped to chat with me anyway. So here we are talking about regular "getting to know you type stuff" and I asked her what chapter she was from. She stated a chapter and I asked when she crossed. Do you know she had the nerve to tell me that she didn't "officially cross yet"?!!! I'm like WTH? So she goes on to tell me that she "pledged" last semester, but she couldn't complete MIP because her grades weren't high enough- so she won't be official for another semester or 2- then she assured me that she is recognized but her chapter because they (the soRHOrs @ her school) know she pledged. (Like I care :mad: ) Can you believe this mess? This girl must be some kind of looney toon or something! To pledge underground and be a "secret soRHOr" (her words, not mine)? I have never heard of this nonsense.

But all the D9 are experiencing this BIG problem... check out the 'perp' forum on AKA avenue..

What a shame....what if she never picks up her grades. I know an AKA like that.....shameful...what are 'we' thinking these days....

That doesn't surprise me either! So many women and men will do anything to become a member of one of the bglos. Just keep a level head and we all need to turn these folks in for faking the funk as a sorhor from U of De. used to say.

So this individual thinks she's a SGRHO hmmm. Oh my! I cannot believe she had the nerve to tell a soRHOr that she wasn't official but she's still a member. That's like saying you're a little pregnant but you are not. :rolleyes:

there are ghost members all over the place.... but to actually sport letters and TELL someone you dont know that you aint legal is a new one for me!

whoever made her should be shamed twofold:
1. for making someone without clearing nationals
and
2. for picking a not-sobright enough individual who would actually tell on herself like that

Good thing I didn't meet her!

It's sad to say but ghosts are very common these days.

That's true...

That's why I say expell the member as well as deny membership to the 'ghost' individuals...

I'm sure we can find out where and when these individuals were supposedly 'made' -- usually they volunteer this information (as in the case with the incident with your soror who started this post). We narrow it down and go back to the schools....I know when pearls are on the line (with AKA)....people begin to talk......

I agree. I know in my area EVERYBODY knows who pledged what and when. Like I've said before the greek world is small and people do talk. My take on this is why "perp" just wait until you get the gpa or money to become a member. You miss out on the real benefits of being a member when you perp.

It does not matter if you were beat down till the white meat was showing, if you were black and blue, or you walked away without a mark on you. If you spent $2, $200, or $2,000 during your so called process. If the pledging, MIP or a combination of both and more or less, took 2 days, 2 months or 2 years. If Nationals does not know who the hell you are, you did it for NOTHING!!!!! I say this because a lot of non-greeks look for GreekChat as a resource and I say this so that you know being a GHOST, a RENEGADE, a FAKE GREEK is not the way to go:mad: I have heard about people taking in new members and holding off on the paper work for a lot longer than a few semesters...sometimes it is NEVER turned in, chapters having mulitple lines (fake and real), chapters who are suspended having a line:confused: Let me tell you the campus chapter does not have the authority to do this, they are not bigger than Nationals. You run the risk of being caught and then NEVER being apart of that organization. You may get love from that chapter, but try going to another chapter that does not put up with such nonsense, and watch how quickley that love fades. You DISGRACE those who are real sorors, active and those of us who are trying to get the finances and time together to be active once again. But more importantly know that just like people, all Greeks are not going to be real with you. There are going to be some who tell you don't worry just do this or that and you are in. They are going to prey on the fact that you want to be Greek so damn bad that you would do just about anything to wear those letters. If you see no paper work AT ALL or your chapter never goes to Regionals etc., then you better wake up and realize that you may not be REAL. You equal if I gave a tee-shirt, told the secrets, showed a step to stranger off the street. Because since your name in no where to be found...what would stop you from joining another Greek Organization, but yet you know the secrets of mine :mad: As a GHOST you do nothing for a Greek Organization, but bring it down because you wanted instant gratification to wear those three letters across your chest without thinking about how after your ungrad years, you might still be able to participate on some level, but again..you are not a real member and some members WILL NOT LET YOU GET AWAY WITH THAT. So to the young lady in the mall, I say that you are lucky you ran into Soror Honeybee1922 (I am sure Soror you were in serious shock), cause Soror Tenacious1922 would have taken your full name, the chapters name and ended your FANTASY with a WTF, WTH you must of fell on your damn head etc., before you even reached your car with a single call to NATIONALS.

I wish all Greeks were as adamant like you.....we all have this problem. Yet...I just hear about how Sorors (AKA) bust out these perps..or I made her give me this or etc. NOOOOOOOOO! Get her information and turn that little heifer in (sorry....). She has 10 more of those shirts/hats/jackets and etc. at home. Yeah, she may not fake the funk with you anymore...but she is getting over on some Soror somewhere....... So put this poor child out of her misery....Let her name roll off one of our National publications to put her on notice to all Sorors.... Bar her from membership altogether!!!!! Bar her from the roles of of the D4 Sororities...

This just burns me up....'yeah I got her'....No you didn't Soror...'cause all you did was tell her off in the mall...next week she's going to be at a greek party with flyer 'gear' on than any other AKA ....strolling and chatting..... Don't let her off that easy.... NOR the young ladies who are passing as REAL SORORS participating in this mess....

I take couple of days off from reading greek chat and boy do I get a vision full of hostile greeks. All that I have to say to those folks that want to come into any organization do your home and don't let someone put you through a process that you know is not right or going by the policies and procedures of that particular organization. And to sorhors, sisterfriends, and brothers of the d-9 don't do it because you know that you will get busted!

i must say that i am more disapponted with my soRHOrs of Sigma Gamma Rho who allow ladies who are not OFFICIAL member to wear nalia or even acknowledge them as sorors.

as long as we allow this type of behavior to go on, other young ladies, whether they pledged or not, will continue to follow this pattern of "renegades"

I somewhat agree with you because a person can't be a renegade unless a member or some members are providing them assistance or feeding them a line of . . . you fill in the blank! Shame on those sorhors for not abiding by the policies and procedures of our wonderful sisterhood. Sorhors if you are doing wrong! Stop the madness and get your acts together because it's only a matter of time before you and your chapter get caught by the National body!

Quite frankly, I expect that from other orgs because from what I see they arent as close nit as we are so a perp could just walk by unnoticed in the larger numbers of other orgs but NOT OURS! This is horrible and the sorors that let this person roam free should be ashamed of themselves!:mad:

I'm glad that we are realizing that the blame also belongs with the sorhor or sorhors that are promoting and even taking these women though the motions without following proper policies and procedures. And I stick to my orginal statement: Sorhors if you or your chapter is doing wrong! Stop the madness before you get busted! It's only a matter of time!

I'm not worried about other greek organizations, just Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and yes, sorhors can try and go against the policy and procedures of the sorority but they will get caught. I can tell you from all of the information that I have received from the national body of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. you are basically gonna get yourself removed from the sorority. Sigma has done it in the past and the national body is not and I repeat is not playing with sorhors that are making renegade folks. I just remember reading the list of sorhors who are nolonger members of this organization.
