I've always been able to learn the CORRECT words to songs (pre-rap, some of that is another story :rolleyes: ), but there are some out there who cannot decipher what is being said. Locally, there is a advertisement for a radio station where these people are singing oldies and for each song, THEY GET THE WORDS WRONG! :mad: :D.

Anyway, what songs (past or present) can you just not get the CORRECT words to, instead, you add your own "flava"?

I know it took me FOREVER to get the "hook" to Big Pimpin'...LMAO!

see part of the problem is (from an outsider point of view) is that the songs make little to no sense. This is why it is CRUCIAL that our children stay in school and learn their learning so they can write songs that educated folks can vibe to.:p

but when Lil' Romeo first came out w/that "girlfriend" song (or whateva the correct title is) and the part when the girl says that ''oh Romeo the cutest boy i know, I thought the girl was saying oh Romeo that girl is porno.

I swear for months I was sooooo confused 'til my 15 yr. old niece finally told me what she was actually saying. I was so relieved, cuz I didn't understand why "P" would allow that line in his son's song.

Oh and that Paper Chaser song by Juvenile, it took me the longest time to figure out that he was saying "paper chaser". It sounded like he was saying "you're a baby jesus", so that's what I sang, until I was corrected.

Btw, I mess up lyrics a lot. LOL

I was TOLD that "B-L-A-Ds" is pronounced "blades", and is a type of rim for a vehicle. Don't know how true that is.

You know for all of these years I never knew what he was saying, but I was still singing along like I wrote the song.

In Usher's new song, "You Don't Have to Call," I did not know what he was saying in one part for the longest time. I was just singing

"Because I'm honestly too young of a guy / to stay home waiting for / So tonight summin summin summin / and that's PAAAAAARTYYY."

His voice gets all high and I just never knew what he was saying until my neice told me a few days ago. He says "I'm a do what a single man does."

Has anybody ever noticed that when people don't know the words to a song the just humm real quietly and then they all of a sudden get loud on the part that they know??? That makes me mad. If you don't know the words, then be proud of it dammit and keep on singing as loud as you were before. Ain't nuthin to be 'shamed of!

By the way, has anybody checked out CeeLo's cd. It is the bomb, and Closet Freak is my favorite song, but I don't know WHAT the hayul he is saying!!!!!! Even after reading the words, I can't figure out how he fits them all in that little bit of space and time.

When she first came out, I had the hardest time trying to figure out what Jill Scott was saying in the chorus in "Long Walk". It took my rewinding that particular part of the CD like over 10 times in order to figure out what the words were. It got to the point where my daughter said, "Ma, do we have to listen to this song AGAIN?" :D :D Well, guess what folks, I've got it NOW (and so does my daughter)!! :D :D

LMAO. Actually, I think that video is a throwback to "Embrya", his second CD. If you look inside the cd jacket, you will see pics of him floating in water. Its a sort of Maxwellian symbolism.

Jay-Z had coined himself J-Hova (Jehova) because it is common up North for males who have established some sort of camaraderie to refer to themselves as 'God' (much the way we here in the South say 'dawg'). i.e. "What's up dawg?" and "What's up God?"

I think it also stems from the fact that Jigga thinks he is the rap god in NY. I beg to differ as there are a plethora of better MC's in NY! But I digress....
