Please Be Quiet...You don't even know the words....
to that song.
I've always been able to learn the CORRECT words to songs (pre-rap, some of that is another story  ), but there are some out there who cannot decipher what is being said. Locally, there is a advertisement for a radio station where these people are singing oldies and for each song, THEY GET THE WORDS WRONG! :D. Anyway, what songs (past or present) can you just not get the CORRECT words to, instead, you add your own "flava"? I know it took me FOREVER to get the "hook" to Big Pimpin'...LMAO! |

Hmm....I think the song I can remember just adding my own flair to was Thuggish Ruggish Bone... I was like: Verse one: befeelinthis nreurhewunfuwnfuwen mmm...sumn, sumn...hmmmm IT'S THE THUGGISH RUGGISH BOOOOOOONE! |
Two of you are something else... by the way, what were the words to Jigga's hook on Big Pimpin'? And leave Bone Thugs alone... they have had me bite my tongue, for real!
|
It is OFFICIAL

I am from Clevleand and liked that THUGGISH RUGGISH:p but you are right you gotta be on crack and speed and reading from the paper to know what in the heyall they are saying. |
TLAW, the hook is :
"Big Pimpin', spendin' Gs, Big Pimpin' on B-L-A-D's Big Pimpin' up in NYC It's just the Jigga Man, Pimp C, and B-U-N-B" I'm the "go-to girl" on the hip-hop front! :D |
Thank you Redefined. Now I gotta go find that CD. I am gonna sing all night!
|
ooooooo ok but umm err umm

see part of the problem is (from an outsider point of view) is that the songs make little to no sense. This is why it is CRUCIAL that our children stay in school and learn their learning so they can write songs that educated folks can vibe to.:p |
Okay, okay, now that Crimson has exposed my ignorance, what the heck does BUNB mean, Redefined? One of the collaborators?
|

BLAD's...I have an idea, but I don't want to put incorrect info out there. Bun B and Pimp C are the members of UGK. |
Thanks.. I need to get out more, or just stick with Joe!

I didn't add my own words...
but when Lil' Romeo first came out w/that "girlfriend" song (or whateva the correct title is) and the part when the girl says that ''oh Romeo the cutest boy i know, I thought the girl was saying oh Romeo that girl is porno.
I swear for months I was sooooo confused 'til my 15 yr. old niece finally told me what she was actually saying. I was so relieved, cuz I didn't understand why "P" would allow that line in his son's song. Oh and that Paper Chaser song by Juvenile, it took me the longest time to figure out that he was saying "paper chaser". It sounded like he was saying "you're a baby jesus", so that's what I sang, until I was corrected. Btw, I mess up lyrics a lot. LOL |
Re: I didn't add my own words...

I had to listen to this song HARD to understand. Baby Jesus??!?!?!?! LLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!! WHEEZE, COUGH, LOL!!!!!!!!!! |

**EDITED** If you ever want to know the lyrics to rap songs, go to http://www.ohhla.com/ My students use this site all the time. They even print them off and leave them laying around so I can pick up a paper with F***, D***, S***, B****. **EDIT #2*** OMG I just learned something about WOBBLE WOBBLE, it says: "I just want to see you wobble, like your momma's won that lotto Like your daddy full of that bottle Like your brother when he caught them hollows" -- I never knew what the momma was doing. |

Another song I know I used to butcher (but I wanted SOOOO badly to get it right b/c I LOVE Snoop) was Dre Day. You know the part when Snoop says: It's the capital S... That part is so SMOOTH to me, and I REALLLLY wanted to get it. But alas, it wasn't happenin'! :( |

Ohhhhhhhhhh!!! You know for all of these years I never knew what he was saying, but I was still singing along like I wrote the song. In Usher's new song, "You Don't Have to Call," I did not know what he was saying in one part for the longest time. I was just singing "Because I'm honestly too young of a guy / to stay home waiting for / So tonight summin summin summin / and that's PAAAAAARTYYY." His voice gets all high and I just never knew what he was saying until my neice told me a few days ago. He says "I'm a do what a single man does." Has anybody ever noticed that when people don't know the words to a song the just humm real quietly and then they all of a sudden get loud on the part that they know??? That makes me mad. If you don't know the words, then be proud of it dammit and keep on singing as loud as you were before. Ain't nuthin to be 'shamed of! |

Girl you have me cracking up with the things you say, "flat line". LMAO Okay how about, i'm young, a 70's baby ya'll, but I love ole school music. How about the song Roller coaster, I always thought they were saying, NOVA SCOTIA. AND CAMEO'S HIT, SPARKLE IN YOUR EYE, I THOUGHT THEY WERE saying, smoke gets in your eyes. My mom was like stop cutting up my damn song. and anita baker's Giving you the best that i got" on the radio it sounded like she's saying giving you the best of the rock. I was like "the wedding ring?" OH AND janet jackson's miss you much the chorus. "I miss you much" (background) M-I-S MISS YOU MUCH. I thought they were saying, well-I-WISH YOU-LUCK. How about i had this ex, who just made up words as he went along, and kept up with the beat, and if you didn't know the words yourself, you would've been singing the same thing. ha ha ha ha. and i thought it was big pimpin spending cheeze not G's well, I'm glad i didn't sing that out loud :D :D |
I could never get Erika Badu's part in the Root's you got me But thanks to close captioning I got it! I also couldn't understand Billy Ocean pronouncement of Caribbean Queen and would wonder why would he name a song something that wasn't in the song. My cousin, thought in Angie Stone's brotha when she says "I have unshakeable faith in you" she was actually saying " I got my jigaboo face for you" How in the Hell she thought that, I still wonder lol.

Y'all are too funny.
I thought the girl in Romeo was saying "Oh Romeo you know it's 4 and 0" and then he goes "I know, I know" but I NEVER thought porno! lollol! Kurupt's "Freak it" confused everybody. It goes, We can Freak it, Freak if you want to Dine if you want to, communicating ya know???? No body knew the second part so we all said "do be do be dooooo!!!" for the second verse. I can't understand a word Craig David says in "Fill me in" I was working next door and I saw this girl blah blah blah blah!! And I don't understand Maxwell " This woman's work" He's singing too high! My only question is... WHY DOES MAXWELL GOTTA BE DROWING IN THE DAMN SIDEWALK?  Just sang Maxwell, don't be drowing and have your woman turn into a tree! |

By the way, has anybody checked out CeeLo's cd. It is the bomb, and Closet Freak is my favorite song, but I don't know WHAT the hayul he is saying!!!!!! Even after reading the words, I can't figure out how he fits them all in that little bit of space and time. |
lol
Well thanks to your man, I'm scared to cross the street!
You know black folks can't swim:D |
When she first came out, I had the hardest time trying to figure out what Jill Scott was saying in the chorus in "Long Walk". It took my rewinding that particular part of the CD like over 10 times in order to figure out what the words were. It got to the point where my daughter said, "Ma, do we have to listen to this song AGAIN?" :D :D Well, guess what folks, I've got it NOW (and so does my daughter)!! :D :D

I know someone who....
Used to sing the hook to Next's song, "Too Close" wrong. She used to say, "Baby no more crying..." When my mother told me that, I CTFU for hours just imagining her friend sing that! The words are, "Baby when we're grinding..." I still can't see how you can go from grinding to crying. But on another note, vanda, can you PLEASE PM me with the words to the hook to The Roots' song, "You Got Me?" I still can't figure out the words for the life of me!!!

So Jay-Z things he is GOD or something?...
Lawd...the things 'we' will sing.... |
Re: .....hmmmm...

Jay-Z had coined himself J-Hova (Jehova) because it is common up North for males who have established some sort of camaraderie to refer to themselves as 'God' (much the way we here in the South say 'dawg'). i.e. "What's up dawg?" and "What's up God?" I think it also stems from the fact that Jigga thinks he is the rap god in NY. I beg to differ as there are a plethora of better MC's in NY! But I digress.... As for more songs where I don't know the lyrics...Whoever said Caribbean Queen, YES!!! It took me for-like-ever! I thought he was saying "Now if you're me....now we're sharing the same dream" I am off, lol. I thought of another one yesterday. I could not for the life of me figure out what Blu Cantrell was saying in Hit Em Up the first time I heard it. Here was my interpretation of the first verse: Well I was swingin, mumblemumble in the the swing a just a swingin'... LOL @ me being an idiot!!! Here is what she says in the first verse: While he was schemin' I was leanin' in the Beamer just steamin' Can't believe that I caught my man cheatin' So I found another way to Make him pay for it all.... |
