Let's talk hair:

1. What's your current length?
2. What length do you want your hair to be?
3. do you color or bleach?

My hair is auburn & wavy, currently just below my waist. Hoping to grow it just below butt-length. I use Robert Craig Hair Color in Light Auburn, plus Longhairlovers shampoos & conditioners.

newbie 05-01-2002 07:09 PM

I love talking about hair, too :D!

1. My hair length is currently a little below the shoulders, and is wavy and layered.

2. Well, usually I'm ALL about totally long hair, but I'm actually loving my hair the way it is right now (not quite long, but beyond medium length).

3. Highlight :D

My favorite products: (I have hair that has been chemically treated way too many times, so I use products for dry/damaged/color-treated hair.)

Terax Crema
Terax Miele Shampoo
Joico K-Pak Protect and Shine Serum Reconstructor
Framesi Hair Masque (it's so great!)
Redken All Soft Hair Masque
Redken All Soft Shampoo
Alterna Hemp Shampoo for Dry/Damaged Hair
ArTec Color Depositing Shampoos/Conditioners -- these are awesome and really boost my highlights to keep them color-true!

BTW, maybe I'm the only one, but I haven't had success with the very popular Biolage shampoo and conditioner.

amycat412 05-01-2002 07:34 PM

1. My Hair is waist length and curly
2. A couple inches shorter than it is now is fine! :)
3. Color - dark auburn brown --it gives my natural brown a warmer tone

I am all about the Redken Mousse when curly and Redken Glass when straight. Been using Sebastian hair spray for like 12 years and LOVE it.

AOIIBrandi 05-01-2002 08:25 PM

1. My hair is straight, shoulder blade length, and VERY thick.

2. I kinda go back and forth between long and chin length (never any shorter)

3. Normally my hair is medium brown, but it is now ash blonde.

So far my favorite hair product is BioSilk Silk Therapy. It makes my hair smooth, shiny, and feel like silk.

xok85xo 05-01-2002 08:36 PM

1. my hair is naturally curly, but i straighten it

2. currently it is just below my shoulders, when i first cut it(and i am due for a cut) it was just below my chin in the front, a little bit shorter in the back(kind of like jennifer aniston's when she first cut it after it was really long)

3. caramel & blonde highlights, naturally its medium brown

hair products:

currently i'm using :

Wella lifetex 'level headed' shampoo
Wella lifetex 'flash flood' conditioner
bioloage hydrating shampoo(i alternate between the two)
l'anza strait line straightening balm
biosilk silk therapy
sebastian shaper plus hairspray(on the rare occasion that i use it)
KMS molding paste(again, rare occasion that i use it)

well, i wasn't really impressed with the level headed shampoo, i didn't think it cleaned that well(unless i used A LOT)..does anyone have any suggestions for a good shampoo for color treated hair?

also - has anyone ever used tigi superstar? comments? complaints?

LeslieAGD 05-01-2002 09:03 PM

My hair is below the shoulder, dark brown, and slightly wavy (although it's layered which covers up the wave). I wish it was a little longer, but every time I try to grow it out, I get frustrated and cut it.

I had light brown highlights last summer but after dying it with Open (twice since then) it's finally back to its almost natural color. I usually use Clinique Shampoo and Conditioner but I also really like Origin's Orange Shampoo for stripping my hair once every couple of weeks.

LexiKD 05-01-2002 11:07 PM

1. Short...little crazy/bed head looking
2. I have always had long hair until 5 years ago and have never gone back!
3. Usually dark brown with caramel highlights, but I colored it today all caramel with blonde highlights!

dzsaigirl 05-01-2002 11:26 PM

1. Long, down to the bra-closure :) Wavy, but I always blow it straight.

2. I like the length it is now.

3. I do not chemically process my hair. It is red with natural highlights.

Now I am using Aveda Shampure shampoo and conditioner and Biosilk Silk Therapy goes on my hair before I blow it out. I have used expensive hair products since birth 'cause my mom thinks that drugstore hair products make people's hair look bad. However, in a pinch I use Pantene, although I have heard that it eventually will strip your hair! D'oh!

SATX*APhi 05-02-2002 12:45 AM

1. About an inch past my shoulders; Wavy, but I difuse/blow-dry it curly

2. My current length plus or minus an inch

3. I keep my original color: dark brown  But I have green eyes, so I think keeping my hair its original color brings out my eyes. However, I could be wrong. This is what I "think"

Peaches-n-Cream 05-02-2002 01:07 AM

My hair is bra strap length. ;)
I like this length. If it grows longer it looks stringy and messy.
I have wavy to curly red to auburn hair. It depends on the weather and the time of year. I don't color my hair. I just wash and condition it and let it dry naturally.

IowaHawkeye 05-02-2002 01:22 AM

this is the most current picture of my hair - from about 2 weeks ago...

http://pstr-m05.ygpweb.aol.com/data/...LsM3H+0180.jpg

haha, as you can see from the roots and my eyebrows - this blonde is not my natural hair color - its more of a ash/dark blonde - i do however get highlights and lowlights (which i'm due for very soon!) to keep it this color, which suits me i think!

i do like the length that it is now, which is shoulder length - though i am trying to grow my hair out longer - like middle of my back long, we'll see how long that phase lasts though ;)

i use biolage shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair and sebastian control top gel to keep my hair sleek and smooth :)

bruinaphi 05-02-2002 01:28 AM

1. My hair is bra strap length.
2. It is usually a little shorter than it is now but I've been growing it out to the length it was in high school and I love it!
3. The big debate is whether I have light brown or dark blonde hair. I color/highlight it b/c my hair doesn't hold its natural color and turns white at the ends (really unattractive two-tone look).

My favorite products:

ArtTex Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner for every day
Biosilk Silk therapy when I straighten or wear wavy
Joico Resolve Chelating Shampoo (for deep cleaning)
Loreal Nature's Therapy Mega Moisture for deep conditioning (part of the European line -- it's amazing!)
Sebastin Hair Spray all the way!

PS: Newbie -- I can't stand biolage products either!

cougar15 05-02-2002 08:08 AM

1. shoulder length
2. whispy layers that flip out, very thick
3. blondish/light brown depending on time of year
4. got subtle blond highlights over spring break
5. when I am home my mom buys me the good shampoos and conditioners, but here at school I go cheap with Herbal Essences clarifying.
6. my hair is somewhat wavy and has many weird callocks(sp?) that give me fits so I use bed head straightening serum and molding wax on the ends.

I am thinking about going for a new style, but haven't decided what to do yet. I have trouble with lots of styles because my hair is so thick so I will see what my hair stylist suggests when I am home.

juniorgrrl 05-02-2002 09:34 AM

1. Chin length, undercut layers, straight
2. I love this length - my hair is so incredibly thick, that its trouble to take care of
3. My hair is naturally medium brown, but I put subtle blonde hightlights in it to give it an overall lighter look

longhairedgal 05-02-2002 10:02 AM

Those of you growing out your hair...

I hope you'll post about your hair care routines at Longhairlovers.com as well as on this great board!

1. My hair is currently bra-hook length, very thick (like a rope) and has some grown out layers. It is naturally Shirley Temple curly, but I usually blow dry it straight (giving me huge biceps). The guy I'm dating likes it curly though.

2. I'm letting it grow longer, and haven't cut it in over a year. Thanks to a horrible above-the-chin shag that I got last year. This is why you should never cut your hair when you are upset. You will regret it later.

3. My natural hair color is black. The top layer of hair is slightly lighter due to the sun, but the rest of it is pitch black.

Thank god my mother is a hairstylist, or I would not have the money to maintain my unmanagable hair!!!

Currently using:
This fabulous new line from Matrix called Sleek Look. I highly recommend that anybody with ridiculously curly hair who likes it straight use this stuff. It is so good that I have retired my flat iron!!!!

Shampoo: Matrix Sleek Look Smoothing Shamppo
Conditioner: Matrix Sleek Look Smoothing Conditioner
Balm/Gel/Creme/etc: Matrix SleeK Look Extreme Smoothing Creme
and Matrix Water-Free Lockdown spray.

When I want my hair to have looser curls and not to be stick straight, I use the same shampoo and conditoner and Matrix Sleek Look Lite Smoothing Creme.
This group of products is heaven sent.

UDZETA 05-02-2002 04:19 PM

My hair is a little past my shoulders, It used to be to my butt.
I'm getting it cut today above my shoulders
I add extra reddish blonde highlights. I have light blonde hair and the reddish blonde highlights adds so much!

APhiRattlerGal 05-03-2002 04:23 AM

hair

Current hair length: Long straight down to the middle of my back, some layers

Length i want: I really like it the length it is now although i do believe i'm due in for a trim. Gotta keep the ends nice and neat!

Color or Bleach: I usually highlight in the summer. I think it looks nice that way. During the fall/winter, I get it back to my dark brown color

UDZETA 05-03-2002 04:47 PM

I stated yesterday that i was getting my hair cut and I did. It is now above my shoulders. Everyone thinks it cute but I'm still getting use to it. :)

GreekLetterGirl 05-03-2002 07:26 PM

I have a short Meg Ryanish cut that I like/hate ( all depends on the day)... I got it cut the day of my 21st
my hair used to be to past my shoulders and curly or straight but then I chopped it...

I would love my hair to be a little longer like Kelly Taylor's during the Collin Episodes ( am getting it there)

I used to color my hair bleach blonde but I stopped so now it is a light brown/blondish color..

Products I use
Ok i must admist I am make up/hair product/bath product junkie... when a new product comes out I HAVE TO GET IT !! but currently I use

Aveda Self Control
Paul Mitchel Shampoo/ Conditionor
Paul Mitchell Hair Spray
Sheer Blonde Funky Chunky
Sheer Blonde Gold Lites

TriSigmaTX 05-03-2002 08:20 PM

1. 2 inches past bra strap. Very curly, always.
2. I love it, sometimes longer, sometimes shorter (I'm talking 1 or 2 inches only.)
3. I used to color it platimun blonde, but stopped that years ago....coloring is bad for your hair. So, now it's mousy blonde, with some weird colors, blonde, strawberry, and of course gray.

I use mostly TIGI products. Bedhead stuff, Moisture Maniac shampoo and conditioner. I use some great conditioning spray for untangling the crazy curls that I have. I use TIGI light hairspray, not much. I also use for the curls: KMS Curl Up and I love it!

IowaHawkeye - I love your hair!! :)

Tom Earp 05-05-2002 10:44 AM

Always remember, it is better to have hair on the head than just flesh!

For myself, I am going back to blond! HEHEHE!:D

SoTrue1920 05-06-2002 11:01 AM

1. Just above ear length. I cut off my collar length hair (long, for me) last summer to a very teeny weeny afro, in preparation for starting dreadlocks. I've had locks for about five months now.

2. No! I hate it at this length because it's very "willful" and sticks up in every possible direction. I'm trying to be patient. :)

3. I used to relax my hair but decided to stop. No real reason, and no indictment of people who choose to chemically straighten, I just don't. When my hair is fully locked, I'm going to colour a few of them a dark reddish auburn for highlights.

Products: I'm a shampoo freak since all I can basically do at this point is shampoo, not condition. Clairol Herbal Essences, Revlon Creme of Neature Herba Rich or @mosphere Ginger shampoo when I'm feeling cheap, Joico, Paul Mitchell, or Aveda when I'm feeling a bit more flush. I also use Carol's Daughter Loc Butter when it's time to retwist my loc babies, and Carol's Daughter Khoret Amen Oil for a light sheen.

I have a hair diary to chronicle my dreadlocks process at http://napsody.formica.ca. You can see past style photos too.

Have a new favorite!

Yesterday, I went to Pure Beauty (again :o ), and got a new shampoo...Terax Collagene Shamp. It's AMAZING! Even better than Terax's Miele! Terax Collagene, paired with Terax Crema just gave me such fantastic results.

I have unbelievably smooth, shiny, frizz-less, soft hair! I can't stop staring at my hair in the mirror! ;)

Without a doubt, this new combo is my favorite! I can't believe that I thought Redken's All Soft hair care system was the best for damaged hair! Not anymore! :D

I highly recommend it to anyone who has dry/chemically-damaged hair. It's so amazing!

Dionysus 05-09-2002 10:52 PM

I admit that there's ONE part of me that's schizophrenic, that's my hair!

Curly, straight, nappy, wavy, dry, oily.....
