B2k

I was wondering what everybody thought about the new boy band sensation B2K. I heard a DJ on the radio clowning them because Burger King is also B2K. I think a couple of those boys have a little sugar in their tank.

kiml122 04-30-2002 07:15 PM

But did you know

One is the little brother to the guy that played Roger in the show Sister Sister . I think his name in his own group Immature now known as Imx is Batman or Marques Houston. They also have a cousin in that group B2K.

CrimsonTide4 04-30-2002 07:15 PM

While not familiar with their song(s), one of my students infiltrates their name into most assignments and even signs her name (fictional name) Quatifah Simmons-Thornton (Thornton for a B2Ker). I call her Ms. Simmons and she will say, "Ms. Simmons-Thornton."

**EDITED
Her name is really quite normal. I would name my child that but since I know how much we love us some ghetto names + I was listening to Queen Latifah when I was typing this so I just combo'ed her name.:p

thesweetestone 04-30-2002 07:55 PM

Am I getting old or are these dudes really lame beyond words?

candygirl 04-30-2002 08:48 PM

They are definitely lame. I'm so tired of these little boys trying to be sexy. Its not working boo, its not working.

CrimsonTide for a minute I was thinking your student's name was really Quatifah. Then I reread it and noticed the "fictional name" in parenthesis. Whew, I almost got a little worried.

B2k

IMX and B2k are coming to our radio station and are doing a concert here this friday.

I'm not gonna lie, folks love IMX, but B2k is REALLY what the ladies are coming to see. They call and ask about tickets all the time now.

We have a meet and greet with them, so I'll let y'all know what I think about them(and hopefully scan the pic)

But I must admit, they have ABS to die for at such young age!

Personally, I really do not enjoy B2K or their music. They have to have the absolutely most stupid names I have ever heard. Three of their names are Lil' Fizz, J-Boog, and Omarion. I don't remember the last boy's name but I'm sure it's just as bad.

And, I saw their last video and they were all dancing with no shirts on. Isn't that child pornography or something? I don't not want to be flipping throught the channels and have to see some little boys who are barely knocking on puberty's door running around half nekked trying to entice little girls.

SweetestDiva 05-01-2002 11:02 AM

I'm not even about to front. Yes, I am damn near 20 years old. But I must admit a couple of them are kinda cute. Especially the darker one with the curly hair.... :)

That's it...the cousin to the buy from Imx is Omarion, I think the brother is they guy that you can't remember his name....Ok help me out but....Omarion.

CrucialCrimson 05-01-2002 11:35 AM

I'm not fantasizing about marrying any of them like I used to do over Michael Jackson when I was 8-9 years old (and we all know how that fantasy turned out)!!! BUT, I think they are toooo cute! Hey, I figure if the boy-band business is going to be a multi-billion dollar issue, then why not have a B2k in the mix. No, they are not as G-rated as Bow Wow or Romeo, but the Scream 2002 Tour is going to be off the hook!! Dancing with shirts off is far from pornography, but suggestion is part of their art so it doesn't offend me - not with all the miscellaneous female body parts that are in commercials and music videos.

B2K's Official Website

http://www.b2klovesyou.com/

Names are j-boog
lil' fizz
omarion
raz-b

Excerpt from site: B2K garnered mainstream recognition long before the release of their self-titled debut CD. The guys spent two and a half months in the summer of 2001 opening for Lil' Bow Wow and later appeared in the video for his recent hit "Ghetto Girls". Critics and fans alike agree - B2K had young concert fans going wild, but their energetic stage presence also brought back some great memories to older audiences, evoking the spirit of the Jackson 5 and New Edition.

These busy guys have also been fitting interviews, radio station visits, autograph signing sessions, business meetings, home schooling and TV guest spots into their hectic schedule. During the past few months, the boys have appeared on several teen-magazine covers, and have made appearances on the "Jenny Jones Show," "TEENick," BET's "106 and Park," MTV's "Mandy," "Soul Train," and the Fox Family Channel's "Weekly Video Countdown."

B2K, which consists of J-Boog (15), Raz-B (15), Lil' Fizz (15), and Omarion (16), were discovered last year in Los Angeles at an Epic Records Showcase for new talent. The guys wowed Epic executives with their surprisingly well developed harmonies and complex dance routines. Aside from these talents, lead singer Omarion also has assembled an impressive acting resume, having appeared in TV commercials for Kellogs and McDonalds.

Parents are singing the praises of B2K too. As Raz-B explains, "We feel a strong obligation to keep our lyrics clean and to set an example for the fans. Parents seem to appreciate that. You can 'keep it real'?we have no problems with that. We want to be the kind of group the whole family can listen to and no one has to tell the younger kids to get out of the room. We love school too, and that comes across in our lyrics as a positive message."

The smooth and seductive debut single "Uh Huh," produced by C. "Tricky" Stewart (Blu Cantrell, Usher), introduces the CD and showcases spicy "boy meets girl" verses from each B2K member. The accompanying music video for "Uh Huh," produced by Hype Williams, offers the perfect visual compliment to the song's flashy production, and gives B2K a chance to perform some of their most exuberant dance moves. "Last Boyfriend" features a lovelorn Omarion's terse vocals about a girl who seems too afraid to get involved too deeply because of sour feelings from her last relationship. Produced by perennial hit-maker Jermaine Dupri, it's got the Atlanta modern hip-hop soul flavor. The bulk of the album's productions was handled by Platinum Status, but includes contributions from Beau Dozier, Marc Dovert, and Max Gousse.

Sure to be a single contender "B2K is Hot," proclaims that the boys are on the scene and here to inspire youngsters into a party spirit. "Hey Little Lady," another production from Platinum Status, features heavenly multi-layered harmonies, but this time, the boys talk about meeting and impressing an around-the-way girl.

"Come On" is a love-affair-gone-wrong jam reminiscent of New Edition during their prime. "Here We Go" is a hyper-energetic cut that blatantly tells a romantic hopeful hangin' at a bus stop that "I'm really looking at your friend." "Baby Girl," produced by The Characters (Charles Farrar and Troy Taylor), is a classic "ladies night" record pledging undying love in the tradition of the great late '60s Stevie Wonder hits.

Perhaps the key to the group's ambition at such a young age is not
just their talent- it's also the right blend of personalities between these eleventh and twelfth graders. Lil' Fizz says slightly tongue-in-cheek, "It's because we're all so different. Razz-B is a Gemini, which says it all. He is like two people in one. I am the laid back boy next door. J-Boog is the businessman who knows how to sell us. Omarion has a casual personality and he likes to be wherever there are chickies and checkers."

Yes, B2K puts their hearts on the line with their music...and make the ladies sigh. But most importantly, B2K crosses all color, age, and musical barriers--indeed, these boys are determined to win over fans of all kinds. They do their thing with flair, style, and a genuine love for both their fans and their music. "We love interacting with our fans," says J-Boog. "We encourage them to reach out and contact us at B2Klovesyou.com!"

well...

i can imagine myself at the age of 12-15 probably being in love with those guys.

and, i don't want to, but i do like their new song, "gots to be." that song is so cute

I'ma be honest...

I'm kinda diggin b2k. But for real, IMX's video... "my first time" (believe it's called). I have to remind myself that these lil boys are so many years my jr. especially when batman has on that cowboy hat, no shirt ... i'm like whoa! Call me Rra (sike... for real please don't call me that) But, they're doing their thang... giving their target audience exactly what they want and apparently it's working.

B2k/IMX update

Ok, so both groups came to our studios Friday, we had it planned that one group would talk while the other group gave "drops"(that is what you hear on the radio, like an artist saying "You're listening to Hot 97!" etc) and then we had a meet and greet with about 40 fans.

I have to tell you ladies, I'm 5'8 and the only one out of both groups that even came CLOSE to my chin is Batman from IMX. They are all SHORT and I felt like Qte the Jolly Red Giant.

I didn't notice any "How you Doin" tendencies or anything, they both were very sweet, but it was B2k that just blew us away at how they are one of the biggest acts in the world and NONE of them have an ego. They ran around our studio and one of them(I think Raz-B) hit one of the members of IMx playfully and then hid behind me and wrapped his arms around me talking about "Protect me! Help!" It was so cute. So I must say that they have either Damn good parents or Damn good managers, cause those boys have their head on right.

They met EVERY single fan(plus a few more) that came to the studio. Every single girl cried and both Imx/B2k hugged them and took pics. The concert that night was cool also, but I felt kinda bad for IMx at first cause you have 2000 girls screaming "B2k! B2k!" even before the concert started. But then Imx came out first and started talking off clothes and erythang so that shut them up!:D

Well that's my report on them. If B2k comes to your town, I suggest that you meet them, they are the sweetest(shortest) boys I've met in the biz so far.

See why you got me laughing a choking on my juice all at the same time.:D

That is really nice to hear that they have such good manners and have their head on straight. Which member of B2K is the brother of Batman from Imx? I know himwhen I see him, because they look a like if you ask me. Also what are thea ges of both groups if they gave that info out. I can't believe Imx is all grown up.:p

Zetaphied 05-06-2002 06:15 PM

They are okay for teen boppers but I would never go out and buy their cd, much like I wouldn't lil romeo or bow wow. I just hate the fact that sometimes little kids have to sing grown people songs in order to make it. Like their song "Gotta Be" What do those little boys know about being anybody's everything. LOL.

Thanks CT4,

I was really just looking for the ages of Imx even though I had stated both groups. I can't believe that Imx is all grown up. Dang they will be 21 this year. Well my man is the the Little Drummer Boy...aka..LDB.....and look he is legal now!! :p

B2K

I can't say I'm a true fan of B2K (even though I like a few of their songs), but I can say I LOVE to see young entertainers (especially young, black Americans) on the rise. Some may think their songs are lame, but hey, every entertainer can't reach all audiences. Besides, I think they are mostly for the youngens :)

I'm not going to hate on them. I can only love them. Go B2K! (okay, I went a little overboard  ) :D

b2k

Thanks for putting the info up, I knew they were related somehow, but I didn't know who was cousin or brother to who. You couldn't tell anyway, because both groups interacted with each other so well, like they were all brothers.

The concert that night was no joke. The little girls broke both barriers and we had to have major security. They love them some B2k.

We have lil bow wow coming to our town on May 31st, and if this concert was any indication of what's coming up, we need the national guard to keep these girls at bay:p

LMAO!

THey aren't THAT young!

I guess I just don't see it. But then again I can not make it through that video "My First Time" without the STRONG urge to CHANGE THE CHANNEL! That song is awful!

And I still remember them from when they were kids with JACKED up hair and waaaaay too much jewelry with "Never Lie" (which was, incidentally, the jam).

Did anyone notice the little girl who played Gwendolyn on "Family Matters" in their new video(Gwendolyn had a recurring role as Little Richie's girlfriend(for lack of a better word)). She plays one of the guys love interest.

Also, Lil Fizz's interest is his cousin, Janae(?). She's in 3 of the B2K/IMX videos and has an album coming out. This was so cute to me because they look so much alike.

Exactly! Every time I see them and 3LW (grown azz heffa--they need a whuppin'), I'm like "look at these chil'ren!" Those boys need to keep their shirts on, flaunting their skinny azz lil chests! My 15 year old sister doesn't even like them...Lil boys talking about how they can 'work it'...Well, it's no wonder: look who they are learning from--IMX talking about their "first time" in their "parent's bedroom"...

Even though "never Lie" was the song ("Cuz you will always be, my frieeeeeend!")...I don't know what IMX (whatever--you're still Immature just like P Diddy is still Puff Daddy) are trying to do w/ themselves now. They sound bootleg...like they're trying to still be hip but they aren't...

JinglesSpr99 08-04-2002 10:39 PM

Booooooo! what happen to groups like new edition!

DSTilmatic_1913 08-05-2002 09:44 AM

I am not a huge fan of the group but I must admit I like both of their singles, especially "Gotta To Be." And if I was 15 I would no doubt be a huge fan. J-Boog is a cutie - just wait until he hits 21. Anywho, Omarion is Batman's brother and J-Boog is Batman's cousin. And I swear these little boys have been working out since they were 10!!

And Romeo from Batman has grown into a nice looking young man. Can I get someone who looks like him but around 25-27?

New Edition didn't look anything like these boys when they came out.

pinkey08 08-05-2002 11:38 AM

I like the two singles they have out. It seems like IMX is a little played out to me now but when I was younger I loved me some IMX so I can see why the younger girls are digging B2K since they are really the younger version of IMX. I call B2K my little young tenders because they are some cuties !

I really like B2K.

My 4-year old daughter says she's going to marry them - no, not one in particular - all of them...oh..and Bow Wow also.

In my eyes, no group can ever be what New Edition was, but these little groups are to little girls what NE was to us back in our day.

B2K and Lil Bow Wow will be in concert out here in Northern Cali during Labor Day weekend. I think we've decided to take our kids to this concert.
