Volunteer Service Team (VST)

I just recieved my first issue of Rose Sisters today (woohoo!) and in it there was a message from Deanna Conaty (Director of Operations) about becoming a member of the VST.
I was just wondering if we have any GC Gams on the VST (Im sure we do cuz many of you are advisors and other positions, correct me if I'm wrong and the advisor position has nothing to do with it but I thought it did), and what kinds of questions were on the application?
I am going to email her for one. With Alpha Alpha (Buffalo) pretty much down the road and Alpha (Syracuse) 2 hours away and recolonizing probably not to far down the line, they might need the help.

I think that's a terrific idea!! AGD can only become stronger with dedicated alumnae!:D :D :D :D

Lynn

I'm just full of questions today...:D

What do you exactly do as a VST, I've been interested but don't really know who to ask questions about it...
LIEP,
Amy

Email Deanna Conaty at IHQ. She is the one with all the info ;)

Amy, the VST application has all the committees/positions you could volunteer for. Each position takes lots of time and dedication but is a ton of fun!
Deanna will be able to answer your questions but you may also want to contact a VST member to also answer your questions.:)

I agree with the prior post. I've been on the VST for about 5 years and it is a time commitment. But it's also rewarding!

Are advisors to a chapter part of VST?

Not really. The Chapter Advisors are part of the local support and the other VST positions are national or regional. Although, the VST application does ask if you are looking to be a volunteer on a local level.

If someone is interested in obtaining a VST application, would she be able to get one from Deanna Conaty?

theta sig agd 04-30-2002 11:10 PM

How do you know if there are positions available?? Just email IHQ?

Thanks!

Thanks!

Appointments are coming up and IC members are filling up the empty positions as we speak. Email Deanna and she will send you the application and my advice to you is to send it back ASAP. Also, take the time to talk to a VST member to find out what it takes.

Just so you know...appointments are usually on a 2 year basis so you need to be able to committ to that amount of time.

theta sig agd 04-30-2002 11:15 PM

Are you a VST member??? I want to get involved so bad, I miss being involved:(

How do you get on the expansion team? Is that a VST position or is that at IHQ?

Yes, I am a VST member and have been involved on this level for 3 years. The expansion team is under the International Vice President Extension. There is not really a VST position for this team. Extension teams that are sent out are mostly IHQ staff members and IC/VST members.

Hope that helps!!!

Don't fret if you don't get your application in before appointments occur. There are usually openings throughout the year in different areas! The main thing is to get it in and on file so when openings occur, they'll know your interests!

I still recommend that you talk to some VST in the areas that you're interested in to better understand position responsibilities!

I agree! Deanna's very quick with her replies! I'm sending in my application tomorrow. It won't hurt to throw my name in the hat, right? :D

It is great that you are applying! Do not get discouraged if you are not appointed to something right away. Sometimes it takes time for the right position to come up.

I know I have said this a million times but it will only help you if you take the time to talk to a current VST member!
