All 26?
Does any campus have ALL 26 NPC sororities? Ive never seen that before.
Most campuses have a ton of fraternities, but a limited amount of sororoties, despite the fact that sororities are usually better organized and have more interest. Even better yet, does any campus have ALL 26 NPC sororities and ALL 4 NPHC sororities? Im just curious IU HAS all 4 NPHC sororities but only 19 (we are adding the 20th next year) of the NPC sororities. I know that at one point we had 22 NPCs (what a time that must have been for rush...22 party!) XP2k |
Penn State has 20 of the NPC sororities and all 4 of the NPHC sororities. I think this is the school with the most NPC chapters.
|
Nope, no campus has all 26 NPCs....
The University of Illinois - Champaign Urbana had I think, 21 NPCs at one point. It looks like it have shrunk to 19.
http://www.uiuc.edu/ro/panhellenic/ I think your school, or U of Illinois is the closest that anyone's ever gotten to having all 26 NPCs, but no campus has ever done it, to the best of my knowledge.... xp2k, I think you will find many campuses that do have all 4 of the NPHC sororities present on campus....having all 26 of the NPC is another story! :D |
The University of Tennessee Knoxville has 19 sororities, but at the time of my enrollment (in 94) - they had 20 (AGD went inactive). So currently our Panhellenic represents all 19 sororities:
Alpha Chi Omega Alpha Delta Pi Alpha Kappa Alpha Alpha Omicron Pi Alpha Xi Delta Chi Omega Delta Delta Delta Delta Gamma Delta Sigma Theta Delta Zeta Kappa Delta Kappa Kappa Gamma Lambda Theta Alpha Phi Mu Pi Beta Phi Sigma Gamma Rho Sigma Kappa Zeta Phi Beta Zeta Tau Alpha What is kinda cool - I think we have the same number of fraternities on campus as well :) |
And just out of curiousity....which NPC sorority has the least number of active chapters? And the most?
|
Hey, although my school with only three NPC orgs( AGD, A Phi, and my chapter of Phi Sigma sigma) is nowhere CLOSE to having all 26 I know Phi sig has 128 active chapters... someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think that's it... I'm curious to see the # of chapters the other NPC groups have..
|
Alpha Chi Omega has 133 active chapters. But Chi Omega has like 170 and they have the most.

Well Volgirl,
Four of your sororities are NPHC groups so in actuality you only have 15 NPC sororities. We had 22 in the mid 90s but we lost Sigma Kappa, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Tri-Sigs, and AOII. From what I hear, reasons for the sororities leaving ranged in categories from poor recruitment and image to severe hazing. I also dont think (in recent years at least...with recent being 10 years) that we have had a Phi Sigma Sigma, Delta Phi Epsilon, Theta Phi Alpha or Alpha Sigma Tau. I dont think that Purdue has any of those chapters either. AOII recolonized in the late 90s and Tri-Sigs plan on returning next year which will make things more even. |
I'm quoting from one of FuzzieAlum's post from a few months ago. Here are sororities listed by number of chapters:
176 chapters - Chi Omega More than 150 chapters - Delta Zeta, Zeta Tau Alpha More than 130 chapters - Delta Gamma, Alpha Phi, Delta Delta Delta, Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Chi Omega More than 115 chapters - Alpha Omicron Pi, Pi Beta Phi, Kappa Delta, Phi Mu, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Kappa Alpha Theta More than 100 chapters - Gamma Phi Beta, Sigma Kappa, Alpha Gamma Delta, Sigma Sigma Sigma, Alpha Xi Delta, Phi Sigma Sigma More than 50 chapters - Alpha Sigma Tau, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Alpha Epsilon Phi, Phi Sigma Sigma, Delta Phi Epsilon 50 or fewer - Sigma Delta Tau, Theta Phi Alpha |
Alpha Gam currently has 114 active chapters.
|
Hi. I don't know if Fuzzie's list includes active and inactive chapters. The closest AGD count I could come up with is 115 active and 64 inactive chapters for a total of 179 chapters in the United States and Canada since 1904.
:) |
Moxie: Exact numbers would be hard to find since colonies and closing...KD has 124/123 actives and 200 chartered...or some where close to that, am I right?
When a school has so many NPC groups is it fun or really difficult to get along? Just wondering b/c we only had 9 and had issues, I think with 15+ that would be hard! |
I know that AOII chartered her 178th chapter this past weekend - I'm not exactly sure how many are still active.

Miami University has the following sororities, quite a few:
Alpha Chi Omega Alpha Delta Pi Alpha Epsilon Phi Alpha Gamma Delta Alpha Kappa Alpha Alpha Omicron Pi Alpha Phi Alpha Xi Delta Chi Omega Delta Delta Delta Delta Gamma Delta Sigma Theta Delta Zeta Gamma Phi Beta Kappa Alpha Theta Kappa Delta Kappa Kappa Gamma Pi Beta Phi Zeta Phi Beta Zeta Tau Alpha Alpha Kappa Alpha Delta Sigma Theta |
Volgirl & BrianMUDU
, On your campus, these sororities that you listed are not among the NPC's 26 members: Alpha Kappa Alpha - NPHC Delta Sigma Theta - NPHC Lambda Theta Alpha - multicultural/Latina Sigma Gamma Rho - NPHC Zeta Phi Beta - NPHC :) and MoxieGirl, the NPC group with the least number of chapters is Theta Phi Alpha. My out of date book "From Here to Fraternity" puts them at 13 chapters (not verified). Not sure what that number would be today, and I couldn't verify on their website..... |

Delta Phi Epsilon currently has 81 active chapters and three active colonies. We have 142 or so chapters in total.
|
BrianMUDU:
On Friday Miami will also have a new sorority! Tri Sigma just presented (I got home last night) and Phi Mu is presenting today, so wish us both luck! |
Good Luck to Tri Sigma and Phi Mu! :)
|
No, my list only included active chapters, and I grouped them by ranges because there is always a chapter opening or closing, and some groups have more clear info out there than others.
I would be interested to know which NPC groups have the greatest percentage of all chapters ever still active? Only a few sororities include a complete chapter roll on their websites; most just list the currently active chapters. |
From what our chapter President said, Zeta Tau Alpha *HAS had* 229 collegiate chapters (including some in Canada), but the current number of *active* chapters is 146.
Oh yeah, and Middle Tennessee State University has 7 NPC sororities... Alpha Chi Omega Alpha Delta Pi Alpha Omicron Pi Chi Omega Delta Zeta Kappa Delta Zeta Tau Alpha (plus 1 local sorority, Phi Chi) |
Congrates to the Soroitys of Tri Sigma and Phi Mu!!!!!!!!
I am sure they will be welcome additions to the Campus!http://www.plauder-smilies.de/party/dazzler1.gif:D :) |
Just for clarification, U of I has 19. We are also the largest based on membership.
Alpha Chi Omega Alpha Delta Pi Alpha Epsilon Phi Alpha Gamma Delta Alpha Omicron Pi Alpha Phi Chi Omega Delta Delta Delta Delta Gamma Delta Zeta Gamma Phi Beta Kappa Alpha Theta Kappa Delta Kappa Kappa Gamma Phi Mu Phi Sigma Sigma Pi Beta Phi Sigma Delta Tau Sigma Kappa |
phi sigma sigma is listed in fuzzie alum's post as having more than 50 chapters...that needs to bumped up abit however as we currently have approxamately 118 chapters (which woul rank us with Alpha Omicron Pi, Pi Beta Phi, Kappa Delta, Phi Mu, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Kappa Alpha Theta)
not to be rude or anything...50 versus 118? HUGE underestimate!!! |
I know this is terrible, but what are the NPHC sororities? I read that IU has all 4 of them, but I am not even sure what they are. I looked on the IU website and I was able to find the listing of the 23 IFC chapters and the 19 Panhellnic chapters that we have. But, I was unable to find information on the NPHC chapters.
Thanks! AOII_Luv |

I went back now and recounted and got 112. Either way, I was way off the first time. I apologize - it wasn't my intent to shrink Phi Sigma Sigma! |
don't worry fuzzie its cool...sometimes we just get the recognition we deserve!!! guess its cause many of our chapters are at smaller schools not large state universities...

Theta Phi Alpha has 43 chapters. Most of them are post-From Here To Fraternity (I think that was published around 1986). http://members.aol.com/TPAweb/qfacha...tml#Collegiate Chapters by Greek |
Cutie,
I know, I was listing all of our sororities, not just NPC. TriSig, Yes, I heard about those presentations today. Hope all went well. |
