Really F#(&ing Stressed Out!

I am having the worst two damn days of my life...fortunately i have five finals in the next three god damn days...lucky me!

pissed off,
Cory

AngelPhiSig 04-21-2002 03:56 PM

I so understand! I have a unit plan due Tues, a lesson to teach, a major dance due tues (I still have yet to find my 5 dancers) I have a final dance due soon for our spring concert...and I hate Clarion!

Although some of my 'true' sisters have made it a little bit more "bear"-able... thank you!

AchtungBaby80 04-21-2002 03:57 PM

Damn, that's rough. I think I can sympathise--my French teacher assigned a 25 to 35-page paper (to be written in French, of course) due at the end of finals week. Aaarggh! I guess I'll have to learn how to BS in another language...fast. I also have three other final projects all due this week, plus my finals next week. I hear ya. Good luck, though!

ZTAngel 04-21-2002 04:15 PM

I have two role-plays in my Professional Selling class this week (Monday then Friday). It's where you have to pretend to sell something to someone in the class. I took my finance final on Thursday so that's a relief and my e-marketing presentation was last week so those two classes are out of the way. But, I still have a final in Criminology (Tuesday) and then a final in Management (Thursday). Ahhh! I'm so stressed.

SuperSister 04-21-2002 04:29 PM

How do people have finals already? I have one week left actually teaching, then a one week review (where my unit, professional portfolio, interview, and classroom surveys are all due), and then comes finals week. I'm not all that stressed out yet . . . but I would much rather be in a classroom as the teacher than as the student!
BTW, AngelPhiSig, you know I'm there for you, even if it is only in my dreams!

Emmi

James 04-21-2002 04:41 PM

*Yawn* I just have some guided stidues, which means I designed the projects . . . without finals . . .

But reading about your hectic schedules made me a little antsy so I just called to schedule a full body massage . .. after that I'll do a light leisurely workout and maybe go out for a couple drinks and some appetizers with some friends . . catch a movie or something . . . Hrmm, maybe tomorrow I'll hit the Sauna or Steam room . . anyway . . good luck on finals! :D

Optimist Prime 04-21-2002 07:03 PM

James, you suck.

I have an 8 part project due wensday. F%&%*%&$ lighting class. Also, like five comprehensive finals in aobut 2 or 4 days next week. Grrrr....i want to go home.

aephi alum 04-21-2002 08:56 PM

Been there, done thatt. I feel your pain. Good luck - remember, summer is just around the corner. :)

GreekLetterGirl 04-21-2002 09:42 PM

I TOTALLY HEAR YOU!! MY FINALS WEEK IS THIS WEEK AND I AM NOT DOING SO HOT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lil_G 04-21-2002 11:20 PM

i hear ya chief,
within the span of a week and a half i had: a 10 page stats report, ANT exam, stats exam tommorrow morning in addition to working 39 hours during that time span...I had to get an extension for my paper on Gramsci, which is now due on tuesday. Whenever i finish that off i am officially done school for good.
probably in the chat late tonight and tommorrow night if anyone wants to vent together for some spiritual healing.

GreekLetterGirl 04-22-2002 10:43 AM

YES!!!

just too the hard final i had to deal with and now I am done till friday when I have my psych final!!! WHOO HOOOO

Lil_G 04-22-2002 11:28 AM

...nice, you must be feeling like you're floating on air...
my stats exam was brutal, i realized as soon as i read it that i wasn't prepared at all, i was the second one out and knew that it didn't go very well...
my buddy's gf who i sit beside said she thought it was very hard and bombed it as well, she's shooting an A....didn't talk to anyone else.

That's somewhat comforting, i thought i was Mr. Bean when he writes the calculous exam for his trigonometry class.

LeslieAGD 04-22-2002 11:34 AM

This was me last week...my curriculum unit (80+ pages), lit paper, english presentation, and field work was all due right on top of each other.

"This too shall pass."

Eirene_DGP 04-22-2002 04:06 PM

I feel Ya

I had to turn in a paper today and I didn't make it to any of my classes because I had more corrections to make than I thought. Then, I have another chem paper due tomorrow and a review to go to and its freaking reading day!!! We have exams all this week and I am not even feeling that. I cant believe the semester is over all ready. Guess it is time to get ready for summer school.

Tom Earp 04-22-2002 04:54 PM

Q

Well Chillin, this is just the start of a long an not lustreous life of working forever until they put the lillys on your chest!

You will not be over paid and underworked when you graduate!

Many times I was there with the Security Guard in the morning and with a different one when I left at nite!

Now that I own my own Business, Ha, there were times I got in at 8 and left at 11. Now I get there at 7 and leave at 2 unless my 1 emplyoee wants off. Then it is only 7 to 6!

God do I miss the good ole days!

Hang in yall it does get worse!

Who sang Cry Me a River?

God I wish I was back there again! http://www.plauder-smilies.de/lach.gif

Well would not be the Most Mature but Damn Near!:D

SigmaChiCard 04-22-2002 06:31 PM

Like Lil_G I was 2nd out of my Prob&Stats exam which means I got an A on it...I always do really well if I'm one of the first few out cause it usually means I was prepared and kicked its ass.

Comprehensive Essay final about the socio-economical ramifications of Globilization in contemporary society didn't go quite as well as I would have liked, but I'm sure I pulled a high B, low A.

That makes four classes down, two left to go. Both are brutal, but I'm less stressed despite the fact my A or B for both courses depends on these exams, no pressure, right? haha.

queequek 04-22-2002 07:41 PM

Yes, understand completely how you guys feel ...
I have a HUGE model to work on, plus three drawings on top of that and a stupid swing project.
The swing project is ridiculous, we need to watch a 3 hr. videotape of a playground, and count how many individuals using swings, and the time ... really boring and stupid!
*@#*@^#&%!^

pbpck 04-23-2002 02:21 AM

Check your PMs. :) Sounds like things are turning out the way I knew they would.

lifesaver 04-23-2002 03:05 AM

Everyone in my chapter is really stressed. EVERYONE. I can think of about 15 people who are being dicks because of the stress. Be glad when this semester is over.

XO_Princess 04-23-2002 06:04 PM

Let me just say that I have my Adult Nursing Final tommorrow, and I don't know anything. Nothing!! My study partner and I are reviewing everything today, and I feel so unprepared. We just finished the Gastrointestinal section, and I don't remember a word of it. My brain is fried. God, I hope I pass.

Tom Earp 04-23-2002 06:16 PM

Hey all, just take a moment and Chill!

Best of luck to one and ALL!:)

cougar15 04-23-2002 07:00 PM

I HATE this time of the year! We start finals next week, but the week leading up to that is pure hell especially if you have professors like mine who like to give exams up to the very last day of actual classes. Nothing like studying for 2 weeks straight!

I can't wait until I go home!

Betarulz! 04-24-2002 12:13 AM

Oooh, oooh, oooh <raises hand excitedly>

Can I vent too?

Yeah, so I have a chemistry test at 545 pm on thursday, and then a biology test at 1030 am on Friday morning.

Of course tommorow is the huge College of Arts & Sciences Student Appreciation Day that I've been partially in charge of running. It runs all day, and should be fun, but I could really use the time to study.

Of course as always, my girl situation is fairly screwy...I'm going to APhi's formal on Friday (which I'm very happy about) but the other girl I have an interest in is playing head games (we've been talking really in depth for the past 7 weeks or so, and I only find out this past Sunday that she has a boyfriend...).

I have three papers due next week, and another one is going be assigned thursday.

Finally, even things I can't control are adding to my stress... Like this professor who I asked to write a letter of recommendation for my application to be a College of Arts & Sciences Ambassador, adn she doesn't turn it in today by the 5pm deadline, which effectively prevents me from getting a spot. This after she told me last Thursday that she would probably have it in by the next afternoon.

I just do not need that right now!

TriDeltaGal 04-25-2002 04:36 AM

I would just like to remind you all that the "Lucky" quarter students like me still have SEVEN more weeks of school!!! Yes, so although you have finals now think where I will be in several weeks while everyone else is enjoying their summers. But, Good Luck, I feel your pain... midterms next week and two 6 pg. essays due the week after our formal on May 4th. Not to mention the numerous events going on this quarter and I just started a new internship at a movie production studio that requires me to work 15 hours a week!

As in my own words at 2 in the morning last night to my roommate:
"Sometimes I wish I could just run away and live in the forest. Or just be happy doing some menial job... but NO I have to have aspirations (sarcastically)...."

AHHH! the life of a college student....

GOOD LUCK!!!!

I empathize completely.

GreekLetterGirl 04-25-2002 04:43 PM

I did the quarter and semster thing, and I think quarter's are SOOOOOOOO much easier. I hate the semster thing, I mean I like getting out early I get out tomorrow Yes that is right April 26 and we start back August 26. Craziness. anyways I wish everyone luck with their finals !!! It willl all soon be over !!

juniorgrrl 04-30-2002 02:10 PM

This week is my week to be stressed beyond belief.

I've got a huge Information System project due in the next 2 weeks - System, Manual, assloads of other documentation. Its a "team" project which means "do a half-assed effort and let Aimee clean it up at the end."

I spent 11.5 hours STRAIGHT yesterday doing a User Manual, becasue what my team gave me was just crap.

I've got a management paper and presentation due on the 9th, and my group members are either missing or illiterate. The parts of the paper I do have sound like they were written by a junior-high student.

I hate group projects. They don't teach you a damn thing, except how to find the bitch of the group who's willing to work their ass off for an A, and then rely on them to do your work, then collect the A.

I cannot wait for law school when my work will be independent for the most part.

pbpck 05-09-2002 05:45 PM

So pretty sure sticking this Bic pen in my eye seems like a nice idea right now so I don't have to face reality in a bit. It's one of those weeks where everything piles up and even though you NEED to be two places in once, you curse the laws of physics because there is no way you can humanly do all that you need to do.

Tonight I have a mandatory class with a huge review session right after it. Yet I have to run out mid review session to be the finale of Derby Days and run back to my session. Have I mentioned that I have never been to a Derby Days practice and I am going to be alone on stage?! Then I have to START writing a paper that was due yesterday. But I am taking the grade cut because I had a midterm yesterday and another paper due. It is due at midnight tonight. I have a terrifying law midterm on monday. A class in which the text resembles OXford. Needless to say, not many have made a dent in the reading. The proff is so random and the content of the midterm remains a mystery. In addition, I have to present an analysis in front of my class on a play that I must go to reserves and read the same day. Tuesday I have another critique due. Too bad I have to go home this weekend where it will be impossible to accomplish any of this. Yeah, taking a full Spring quarter of credits was a brilliant idea on my behalf.
Ok...I feel better. 4 more weeks...

LXAAlum 05-09-2002 07:04 PM

Perspective from the other side of the trenches:

If you know you aren't going to make a due date for a project, worth 25% of your final grade, and it states in the syllabus that late assignments will NOT be accepted,

Don't try to sell the instructor on getting a delayed due date, on the date the project is due.

I HATE that - I had five, FIVE, students try to pull that on me Tuesday - I haven't seen them in class for two weeks (we met in the library so I could help with the research portion - they decided not to show)

They aren't happy, because a 75 is the HIGHEST grade they could earn now - I refused to accept the late assignments....the rest of the papers I will be grading from now until three days from now, non-stop...

Stress just isn't on the student side of school...

pbpck 05-10-2002 02:43 AM

I didn't ask for an extension. I took my grade cut honestly.

aggieAXO 05-10-2002 08:03 AM

I am wondering if this is a liberal arts thing. As a science major we were not allowed to turn anything in late but my roommate who was a psychology major could get extensions for every thing-with no grade cut-that use to make me sooo mad:mad: .
He would also sleep through finals and not get pinalized-ugggg.

I feel for you Pbpck-just reading your post stressed me out. I am so glad I am not in school anymore though I strive on stress. Of course being in the real world has its own stresses.

TriSigmaTX 05-18-2002 01:18 AM

OK, for those of us who don't have finals anymore.....we still are stressed out too!

Bills, owning your own business...hoping to get business, me applying for jobs....don't have one yet. Rent's due soon, bills, bills bills :) Enjoy college while you can!

prospectiverushee 05-18-2002 12:20 PM

Yes, enjoy college while you can. Being a grown up sucks sometimes.

Oh yeah, my stress is due to the fact that my company is laying off folks. So everyday it's a mystery if I'm going to have a job or not. Please added to the fact that my company is looking for any and every reason to get rid of people so that they can get away with paying little to no serverance pay is just making me Little Miss Sunshine as of late.

SigmaChiCard 12-16-2002 02:14 AM

570 (mon)
421 (tues)
542 (30 minutes later)

3 VERY intense finals....pray for me.

Someone please hit me for ever saying this.

I guess I didn't realize my finals would be 4 hours long, each. Or that I'd have 50 pages of reading per night, per class. Blah.

Dont' ever graduate! Stay in college forever!

Can i add a HELL YEAH to that?
Law school definately isn't fun and games..... i'm working my ass off. I've barely left my couch the past two weeks studying for finals. All my undergrad friends are done and at home already. I have a final today, and one Thursday.
NO FUN!

Good luck! My finals finished last Friday, and its great to not have *anything* to do today...well, except all of the Christmas shopping I didn't do over the past few weeks

SigmaChiCard 01-04-2003 02:35 AM

Well, this is completely different, but have any of you ever had a classmate brutally murdered? It was very odd, a girl that everyone knew (she was an attractive engineer, and those my friend are rare), but I knew her vaguely from class. We'd all be studying for the 570 exam mentioned earlier, and after this exam and perhaps one more, she would have been a graduate, but having been at her home rather than class during finals week, people that broke in and hadn't planned her being there beat her to death. It is just the most peculiar thing to have happen. I know people die in car wrecks, and of illnesses, but this was simply gruesome, and heart wrenching.

just thought I'd let you know....
