Order of Omega
The U of I chapter just rechartered, and I have been invited to join! There is no OOO forum, so who else is a member?
|
I got invited to apply for membership. I fit all the requirements, and I applied, but I do not find out if I was selected until the 29th...wish me luck!
|
I'm a member of Order of Omega. I applied last year and got initiated into it. If you were invited to join, you should definitely do it because it is an honor and on my campus (I'm assuming it's like this at other schools too), the top 3% of Greeks are accepted into the society.
|
I'll be initiated into Order of Omega next Saturday at our Greek Recognition Formal.
|
I was initiated almost 25 years ago. I've always been proud to have it on my resume!:)
|
I am a member of the Pi Chi chapter at UBC - was initiated a year ago.

Here at UNL you have to be a Junior to apply, so I'm a ways away from applying, but you can guarentee I will when I can! Seems like I prefer to fill out applications more than studying:eek: - must be why I'm so involved:rolleyes: |
I was initiated in April into the Boston U. chapter of Order of Omega.

I am really excited because I am being initiated along with one of my pledge daughters and some of my closest friends from other sororities. I am glad I will have this chance to work with all of them.
|
I am in Order of Omega. All they really did on my campus was Greek Week, but it was a big honor to join.
|
I'm a member too!
|
I'm a member, also!
|
I'm also a member of Order of Omega - I was initiated during the fall semester of my junior year. We mainly did community service.
If you meet the basic requirements (GPA, campus involvement, etc) then definitely apply. Starlet is right in that no more than 3% of greeks on a campus can join Order of Omega, so it's quite an honor to be selected. |
I'm a past president of the OOO at Columbia. It's an honor to join, though the practicality of it ranges from school to school. When you join, you might just be adding a line to your resume, or you might be joining an organization that sponsors campus unity and leads in community service. In part, it's up to the members to decide what to make of it. Also, Omega awards 71 scholarships to members who excel in leadership at their chapters, greek communities, and OOO.

Order of Omega
I joined last fall and one of my pledge brothers and I were just elected to exec council last week, so we are excited. It is a good organization on our campus, but we usually only do Greek Week.
|
I got in! I just got a message, and I get initiated on May 1st.
|
I initiate tonight.
|
Congrats!
|
Woo hoo! I just got elected secretary after initiation!
|
Congrats
Congratulations DeltaBetaBaby, I was elected secretary for my chapter as well. I just got back from our officer transition/social event, we all went bowling. Good Luck next year.
|
I wasn't able to go to the initiation ceremony last quarter and I haven't heard anything from the president after two emails and a phone call!! And to top it off, they still deposited my $75 membership fee!!
|
unfortunately we do not have a chapter at my school... but I know my soror has an similar honor society that you can join that gives you opportunity for more scholarships and a chance to meet people form different chapters.
|
I got initiated tonight!!! We also had elections and I ran for Public Relations Director. There were four of us running, and this girl and I tied. Since they all felt we were both qualified they decided to have us be Co-Public Relations Directors. It's cool, but I wish I had won, and I did not have to share...lol

bump
I was invited to join the Rho Lambda chapter, I can't wait to get initiated! My boyfriend joined last semester so it will be exciting to be more Greek together - we're also both in Omicron Delta Epsilon! :)
|
one of my sisters, Tracey, and I have been working with CSUDH new Greek Life Advisor to bring Order of Omega to campus. Suzy is now in the process of getting the paperwork approved by the various campus offices then she'll petition to Order of Omega. Wish us luck.
the only bad thing is because Tracey and I are graduate students we'll have to be initiated in as Honorary Members because Order of Omega still only recognizes undegraduate members of Greek Life even though some groups now have graduate members as Active Collegians. Phi Sigma Sigma being one example of that. Carolyn |
Florida Tech's chapter just rechartered as well, and I'm the new President.
Starting an organization up is scary! I want to make this something more than just an honor society... I want it to mean something. Does anyone have any great events they've pulled off that a chapter of 12 can do? |
Our OOO chapter (Kappa Alpha) was recolonized last June. We only actually elected a President, and she was just basically chosen by our advisor. She's always stressed out about OOO though, so I end up helping her since I'm a member and I work with the OOO advisor. We're mostly just recruiting right now, trying to get numbers up so the chapter can start planning events, etc. Hopefully it will work out better this time around!

I just wanted to say that the University of Wisconsin's chapter is rechartering too . . . I'm excited.
|
I was initiated in order of omega last fall...
|
My chapter of Order of Omega sponsors a couple of receptions for those who have the highest GPAs in their chapters. We also co-sponsor the end of the year Greek Awards banquet.
I think the big problem with it at my school, along with other schools is that, by design, it's made up of the leaders of their respective GLOs....and, at least in my case, as in most others, I'm going to pick my Kappa Sig stuff over my Order of Omega stuff any day of the week. That's not to say that I blow off Order of Omega; I applied for it, and I help out when I can, but the point is that my fraternity comes first. Collin also....i'm the only guy in my chapter here at BU....kinda weird |
What exactly is the Order of Omega?
I see it's some honor society...but what's it all about? |

At my school, the requirements are to have a 3.0 GPA, as well as to have held positions in your Greek org and the university as a whole. Collin |
I was initiated this past Friday. I am not sure that the chapter on my campus is very active, so I am hoping to help change that soon. Right now, it is definitely seen as an honor to join, but it is still not looked upon as anything more than a nice thing to add to your resume.
I agree with KSigkid that at my university the majority of the members of Order of Omega are already officers/leaders of their respective organizations and would devote more time to that org than to an honorary org. I am not even sure how many undergrad members there are in my university's chapter. Chi O Cutie |
I actually checked into it today, and I found out that they are trying to bring it back. I'm already on an IFC committee...so this next meeting I'm to try and get on the committee bringing back Omega.

Order of Omega
I would love to have an Order of Omega thread (?) under the Omega section of GC. I see that lots of chapters are trying to recolonize or revamp their chapters and sharing ideas would be really helpful.
I am a current member and am very active in my chapter. AOIISilver |
Since this was posted, I'm proud to say that 2 of my daughters--1 Chi O and 1 AOII--are also Order of Omega members! If they can't be my sisters in Pi Phi, at least we can share Order of Omega!
Also, I made an idiot of myself tonight re: OOO. Several teachers and I were in conference with some parents and I caught sight of a certificate with a giant Omega on it about 20 feet behind the teacher whose room it was. I exclaimed, "Hey, you're in Order of Omega!" (Weird looks from everyone else--they were all talking about some student.):o She's an Alpha Gam from Tarleton State! |
My chapter Lambda Phi, won chapter of the year for this year! YAY OOO!
|
I was in Order of Omega... still have my Omega pin in the jewelry box. My husband questions why I keep it, so I just question him as to what else would I do with it?
On my campus the group was pretty active... sponsored a huge toy drive at Christmas among other things. |
I'm a member, I believe I initiated in Spring of 2004. I've thought about putting my pin on the lapel of my white coat. I've got a Nebraska Alumni pin there already and it's a nice conversation piece when I'm talking to patients.
