I keep hearing from people at my school about 420 parties, and how much they are going to smoke. I really don't care, but I don't smoke. Anyway, I was just wondering what all the non pot smokers will be doing on 420? Any non-pot related plans? It is a Saturday afterall...

OK, I know I'm getting way old here, but what is a 420 party???

What's a 420 party??

420 is suppose to be the biggest pot smoking day of the year. So, 420 parties usually consist of a group of people sitting around getting stoned!! You'll hear people walking around saying, "Happy 420!" :rolleyes:

I think that it is a pot party.

:rolleyes: Yep it is. It originated (I believe) because supposedly the police code for pot is 420 (when they're calling it in or whatever). :rolleyes:

Some people take it a little further and at 4:20 everyday they take out the pipe. My friend's ex was an avid smoker and he would even set his alarm for 4:20am! yuck, yuck, yuck

Well, on 4/20 this year, I will be studying all day for my finals. :(

my old roomie would skip all obligations April 20th each year and get stoned nearly every hour on the 20 minute mark....just j's...the blunt came out for the 4:20 mark though...she was funny like that

We are having a huge festival here at school that day. Tons of people from all over San Antonio and beyond come to it. I'd like to see how that will be..... :rolleyes: I've already heard things....

There are more then a few parties here, easily hte biggest is put on by the rugby team. At our school the rugby team is like a fraternity, except none of the rules and more parties. Anyways it should be out of control there will be 30 kegs and they are pit roasting three pigs, good times for all. Its in the middle of the woods so it won't get busted (last year they didn't check their spot so they got busted cause they were on top of an endgagered prairie dog village lol) and I am going with a bunch of my sister so it should be a good time, they usually are.

Every year there is a HUGE celebration at the local Park and the cops even give you time to take a couple puffs and give you a warning before breaking it up.

It's kinda funny our formal is on 420. So I will be there then a fraternity here is having a party afterwards. SO there is how I'll spend my 420.

This is how we've always interpreted it--don't know if it's the same everywhere else:

4= TIME (4 letters in TIME)

0=SMOKE (I guess the 0 resembles a blunt)

the number 420 is used because that was the apt. number of a guy that a huge amount of weed. Like I heard upwards of 500 pounds :eek:

well, I...along with any other graduating engineering students have a HUGE test on 4/20/02 this year. it's to become a professional engineer! this, we need to make more money!

it's called the fundamentals of engineering or the engineer in training test FE/EIT. i hear it's a real bitch, but something like 90% of the engineering students here pass it. wish me luck!

My boyfriend is taking the FE/EIT Saturday as well. What Eng discipline are you? He's in EE and feels grossly underprepared because he hasn't had classes like Thermo, Materials, etc.

I'm also an EE, and I agree with your boyfriend. I'm just glad there are area specific tests in the afternoon!

Since 4/20 is Earth Day, I'll probably be downtown joining the Earth Day celebration.

Here in Denver, 4/20 is the anniversary of the Columbine murders.

I'll just reflect with a clear head.

4/22 is Earth Day.

I always heard that 420 was the time of day when kids were home from school, but their parents were at work still thus the perfect time to smoke up.
As for me, there're are 1000 things I have to do that day including college visitation day with 800+ HS kids coming to campus, a philanthropy thing, SAE's Springfest music festival and Phi Rho Chi initiation. It's gonna be a long day.

D'oh! :o I meant to say that while 4/22 is the actual Earth Day, my city and university are celebrating on Saturday the 20th. Need more caffeine...

I just wanna know if I'm living under a rock here. Have Canadians ever celebrated 420? Or ever even heard of it for that matter?

Siobhan? You'd know more than any of us given the fact you're from bc :) . Is 420 new to you?

Widespread Panic is playing in Raleigh on 4/20, so I may go to that, plus, all the local "head shops" are having giveaways and contests in their stores for all the pot lovers.

Actually considering I am from the pot capital of Canada - I have never heard of 420 until this post. I know that there was a certain time of day to light up, but a whole day, did not know that.

I tell ya there are going to be some messed up people in BC monday morning - Canucks game tonight, 420 on saturday and canucks game sunday night :p

my sorority sister is getting married tomorrow, and that should be a great time ~~ i'm from the last class to 'pledge' while she was a member, so i'm excited to see her get married, and meet a LOT of alumni and catch up with those sisters i've not seen in a while.

also, there is a HUGE (lol) debate team cook-out ~~ steak, salad, shrimp, some kinda SUPERB dessert, and of course, beverages (some how, everyone on the team is legal)

My boyfriend is from Ypsi (at least, when I was in A2, he was living there and that's how we met) & he always told me about the Hash Bash. While I totally believe that residents of A2 would be out smokin' up (talk about your hippies... that's why I love that city so much! :D .. the hippies, not the pot), I couldn't believe that it was permitted by local authorities. I only lived there one summer, so I wasn't around for a Hash Bash.. does this really happen?! :confused:

On another note.. we now both live in Columbus (OH), and one of my radio stations always plays "the 4:20 break" at 4:20p.m. They have what they call "the stash", which is older and/or rarer songs that they play all of the time. But of course, at the 4:20 break they HAVE to play something from the stash (get it.. haha ;) ) There's also this place called "The Joint" that is a smokers '(tobacco, of course) shop that has an ad played on that radio station every day at 4:20p.m. And they sell Tommy Chong's glass (I'm assuming these are pipes & such, as I've never actually seen one), so he's in the ad saying things like "When I go to Columbus, I hit The Joint, man!" & "High St., kinda where I live, man" (because The Joint in on High St.) Makes me laugh every time I hear it.
