I remember seeing the brothers from Florida State University in '94 and thought "darn, all that talent on one campus." They travelled quite a bit and won so many shows in a row, I lost track.

In the mid 90's, the New York City Zeta Step team use to hold it down. (Haven't been to step show in a minute, so it may still be the case.) They put on quite a show; didn't some of them appear on New York Undercover?

Well, I've just seen Zeta teams from Florida...and the ones that I think are the best are the ladies from Pi Pi chapter (Miami citywide chapter).

As far as Sigmas, well, I'm not sure....I'm partial to Lambda Tau (FIU), but I remember seeing Iota Rho (UCF) stepping back in 97-98, and I was realllly impressed.

I am going to put it out there but the brothers from NSU (Norfolk State University) Delta Zeta.

For the Sorors..I would say New York City step team and the Ladies from Rho Omega Zeta in Long Island, NY. Those sisters are no joke. There steps are original.

South Carolina State - I forgot the chapter. They do this mirror step which is so good plus the wear dressed very well.

Atlanta Sigma/Zeta Team
 

The team made up of Zetas and Sigmas from Georgia State U, Clark Atlanta, Georgia Tech, and Morehouse was the best I'd ever seen. I don't know if they're still stepping together, but they did from 1996-1998.

Sistermoon, Did you read this post? We have a poster whose mother was in Omicron Chapter '78! Well alrighty now...I KNOW I am old school when posters mothers were on campus the same time as my pers.

Let me think about this stepping hall of fame thing. *thinking hard* The brothers from UCF had a good team in the late 90s around 97-98-99. I actually drove to Orlando to check them out and was impressed. As far as sorors go, I remember seeing the sorors from Jackson State throw down one year (I think 99).

Now if we really want to stretch I know of a certain probate show in '73 at Alcorn State ...

all i can say the "strolling" I see now has nothing on what I saw then ....

1990 Penn Relay Step Show -
The Sigmas (I believe they were from the University of Pennsylvania) were off the chain. They would set the canes on fire, memories *sigh*

The best teams I have seen were Rho Gamma AT the University of Memphis and the Sigmas at the U of Memphis

Sigmas.......... EX Chapter at Illinois State University back in the mid to late '80's. The brothers could step.

I would have to say Sorors from UPenn around 91-92 and the New York Step Team.

For Frat I say, Unknown Step Team and Frat from UConn around 93-95 (if you can appreciate a more cultural/motherland feel-UConn)

The Omega Kappa "kuties" are still on the map.. however we are now the Zeta allstar team and we still rock CAli.. :D

First I must give greetings to the Sister Sorors of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. :D

OK, now to the question. The Sigma Conclave was here in Detroit last year. And I was at the step show. I must say, the UNKOWN STEP TEAM gave one of the greatest performances I've ever seen.

The Zetas from Western Michigan University (I apologize, I'm not sure of the chapter) also gave a wonderful show. They were blind-folded and never messed up. I must say it was awesome!

I always give credit where it's due, and I must say that I have seen the ladies of Omega Pi from Vanderbilt step in '02, and they are excellent! Also, I work with a Zeta from Rho Gamma at U of Memphis, and she let me know that they pretty much have a stepping dynasty.

Also, I think the UNKNOWN STEP TEAM is a given. I've screamed everytime I've seen them. UCF was off the chain when I peeped them in '97 & '98, and CAU seems to have a healthy legacy. I still recall from a major newspaper article that they were the PBS national champions in '94. (I got a lot of trivia.) NOTE: Y'all should peep an episode of MTV's Road Rules when they hit CAU on this year's campus tour. The Sigmas at CAU did a great job stepping and teaching the RR step team. It's deep. Stay tuned.....

I wish I could help you out. But I must say, if they come to a city near you (or you are at a major Greek function [i.e., Philly Greek]) be sure to chek them out, I mean fareal, you NEEEED to see these guys, they are the B-O-M-B!!!!!!!:D :D :D :D

Question for Sigmas. Where are they guys from? Are they from different school, regions of the country or what?
