A question for all Greeks...
i was on another chat line and saw this question and i thought it would cool and interesting to post up in the General Greek Chat Forum.
The question is for the BGLOS, GLO, MGLOS and other brotherhoods or sisterhoods that frequent greekchat. i will pose it in two parts: Women: if you were a male and could become a member in any male fraternity, which one would it be and why?? Men: if you were a female and could become a member of any sorority, which one would it be and why? again this for those that have already gained membership in their prespective organizations. ****please be respectful in answering this questions and do keep all immature comments to yaself**** ------------------ MaMaBuddha Devastating Stimulating Tantalizing _________________________ Imaginer un métro rempli avec les anges tombés... |
If I were a male and were to join a fraternity I think it would be LXA- Lambda Chi Alpha. All of the guys in the chapters I have met (from three schools) are really nice, down to earth, not egotistical and very proud of their organization. They seem to put values in front of everything that I see them do. Although I do have a lot of friends that are Sig Ep's and I love them too... I just don't think I would fit in with the ideals of their national organization as well as Lambda Chi's.
------------------ If your going to go greek, why not be a goddess? |
Women: if you were a male and could become a member in any male fraternity, which one would it be and why?? Being that I am a Finerwoman, there is no question that it would Phi Beta Sigma. |
Wow, good question I think if I was a guy, (ok first off no guys take any offense , I love all my greek brothers, and don't want anyone to feel left out http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif )
In BGLO, I would have to say The Sigma's or the Kappa Kappa Psi's from Morgan State most of them who I have met have been real nice guys and just pure gold. GLO's I am gonna have to say SAE, they can just be too cool, and oh the brothers of SAM In the MGLO's I'll have to say the Beta Xi Chis, actually all of them http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif But I love all my greek brothers so I would want to be all of them , One and Alwyas Much Love MGLO Delta Gamma Pi Sorority |
cool question!
If I were a guy--and were to be a member of a fraternity when I was in college (10 yrs ago!) I would have been either a Sigma Chi or Beta. They were awesome and cool at my school. Great groups of guys. |
I never would have thought of this.....well....if I was a guy, and going "blindly" into one, and what I mean by that is that I dont know too too much about them, but from what I do know of them as beign really nice guys, I would go with Pi Kappa Phi.
|
Wow, this is a hard question. I think if I were a guy, I would have picked TKE. They were the most down to earth men I ever met!
|
This is a great question. If I was a guy, I think I would pick SAE. They are great guys here and they're growing in numbers. I think they've also been voted the most outstanding fraternity two years in a row at my school.

Cool Question!
Amycat412-Thank You http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif At George Mason, if I were a lady and from my past experience(4 years ago)from the girls I've known in each sorority, I would say Chi Omega. Alpha Phi would be a strong second. (Both are very pretty, smart, and nice girls). Now, beyond George Mason(nationally) if I went to another school(assuming they were at that school). My first choice would definitely Kappa Alpha Theta. Kevin [This message has been edited by Miami1839 (edited March 16, 2001).] [This message has been edited by Miami1839 (edited May 04, 2001).] |

It is a great question...
As an alum, this is hard to answer, but... Had I answered it 30 something years ago when I was in school it would have come down to either Pi Beta Phi or Chi Omega. The were both excellent. DeltAlum |
I'm not sure that this is a question that can be accurately responded to (for me, at least).
I really don't know what it is to be male, and I would imagine that men join fraternities for reasons different from why women join sororities or women's fraternities. True, there might be fraternities and sororities that have similar purposes, but fundamentally, I imagine that the men's experience in their fraternity would be different from the women's experience in their fraternity. I can admire a fraternity's purpose, goals and ideals, and even hope that them men in my life embody those ideals (perhaps by even affiliating with that fraternity). Yet I think that would be the extent of it - admiration and appreciation, without the wish for affiliation. Having said that ( http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif), I most admire the goals and ideals of Triangle Fraternity - they place a value on brotherhood, as well as individual brothers' development as a person and a professional. I have much love for the brothers of the Oklahoma Chapter. I'd encourage any young man to check them out! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif ------------------ @-->--- Pure as Silver, and True Blue! I think that at my school if I were a guy I would pick Phi Lambda Chi. I don't think I've ever heard them mentioned on this board, but here they were always my favorite. I used to feel like I had a bunch of big brothers on campus, and I could always go to their parties by myself if I wanted to and just hang out with the guys. I would have NEVER done that with any other frat! Plus, their advisor is the city mayor. How cool is that?
|
I'm kind of tied between Phi Beta Sigma and Kappa Alpha Psi.
I think that if I was a man right now ( I know that sounds strange to me too,) I would be a Phi Beta Sigma However, about two years ago I would probably have been a Kappa Well that's if they wanted me.......lol |
Thank YOU ilove, for the nice thought!! At Pittsburg State U. if I picked a Soro to go with it would have to be ASA or SSS. We at the LXA house have had close relations with them both!! But my ex be an AGD may have something to do with it. LOL!
------------------ Tom Earp LX Z#1 Pittsburg State U. (Kansas) |
i would have been an omega. on my campus they were smart, involved and extremely down-to-earth. no one really had beef with them. even the other fraternities thought they were cool. plus, all of the girls came to their parties http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif that would have been a litte dramatic since my daddy is a kappa. but, everyone should do their own thing!
|
Great question -- but a hard one! At the school I went to, we hung out with a lot of the different frats, so I got to meet a bunch of great guys in each! It would be easier for me to name the one or two I wouldn't join...but I'll leave that alone http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif LOL http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
KA's - great guys and real gents -- I'm HUGE on being mannerable and gentile, so I guess this would be my #1. Close seconds would be Delta Sig and Sigma Chi. |
i would be an Alpha, no question. the alphas on my yard were into everything and really nice guys...smart & respectful. i admired how they were right there with the sororities when it came to promoting awareness about women's issues, and it was done from a "how we can support/help" point of view. very cool guys, and they step their @$$e$ off! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif
|
Well since i was Kappa Delta Daggerman it'd have to be KD all the way! Every time i met a KD and she found out that i was a daggerman, i would totally get hooked up and would leave with at least a couple KD shirts. Plus Shamrock is always a blast.
|
This is a sweet question!
If I were a boy on my alma mater's campus, I'd want to be an Alpha. The Alphas are the most active fraternity on campus. They tutor middle school kids every Saturday morning, they hold all types of programs either on their own or w/ other groups (Greek and non-Greek), they are all smart, sophisticated and just overall a great group of men (notice I said MEN, not BOYS http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif). They are definitely the type of guys you'd take home to meet your parents! They are just great! Can't ya'll tell I just LOVE me some Alphas!? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif So if there are, uh, any available Alphas out there, uh..hehehe...lemme stop! [This message has been edited by ZChi4Life (edited March 16, 2001).] |
Girl, don't stop....I think there are some "out there"! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

This is such a neat question. I would definately be a Sigma Chi. They are just the most awesome guys I know, very involved with their fraternity and on campus: strong leadership and strong brotherhood. And I could see what sweetheart is like from the male perspective, LOL (It's nerveracking boys, I tell ya). Yup I'd be a Sig http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/tongue.gif. A close second would be Beta.

AXO Alum, God Bless you.
If I were a woman I think it would be a toss up between ADPi and KD. ADPi because I think they have 3 seperate intiations (pledge, active, and then a seperate one when you go alum). I think thats right, I dated and ADPi for a while. KD because they are Southern, and their National office is awesome. I saw it on their website and I'd love to see that place inside just once. |
I would be in Alpha Chi Omega or Kappa Kappa Gamma. I knew a few girls in each of those houses at my school and they were pretty cool for the most part.
|
If I had to pick...I think I would choose to be in KA. I know a few here at LSU because my cousin is one and they all seem really sweet and nice. Definitely true Southern Gentlemen. You've got to love that!!!!
Allison P.S.--I would love to participate in Old South too!!! ------------------ ~A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition~ |
If I had to choose, I think KA beacuse I was born and raised in the south! They seem to always represent themselves well and I always think of them as the traditional southern gentelmen~
Maybe Pi Kappa Alpha Their Headquarters are down the street from KD HQ and I hear nothing but good things about them! |
to some this could be a loaded question. i see that alot of people are looking very deeply for an answer when yet it can be very simple...not offense to any of my fellow greekchaters. i like that way of thinking.
to be honest, my first greek experience was Sigma Chi, at Embry Riddle University, in Daytona Beach. When i was a geeky high school student, i went to an fundraisiing event that was sponsered by Sigma Chi, my best friends brother was a Sigma Chi. The guys were so great and fun and were did so much in the community as far as having blood drives and community fairs. although that was my first experience...it may be evident for some people, but reasons are alwasy different. My BGLO Frat would be no other then Omega Psi Phi. not only for the history they have with DST, but because in my 7 years and 7 days being a member into the most distinguished sorority with a swelling membership of over well over 200,000, there can be no other. i have supported several events that the bruhs was extended and they also know how to set it out for a soror. a big shout out out to Omicron Epsilon, Kappi Psi, Kappa Omicron chapter as well as my favorite bruh LockJaw spring 95 OE.... |
If I was a girl and had to pick a sorority it would have to be Kappa Alpha Theta. The Thetas at my school are sweet girls; real marrage material. Every Theta that I have meet, from my school and from others, have been girls that I would bring home to my mom.

This is an excellent question. I definitely would have wanted to be a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Those brothers are down to earth, intelligent, compassionate, etc. This past summer I was in ATL at the time of their convention and met 3 Alphas who were PERFECT GENTLEMEN in every sense of the word.
[This message has been edited by CrimsonTide4 (edited March 17, 2001).] |
MAMABUDDHA: The Greek world is very small. Having lived in NY, I am sure we know the same Bruhs and may have even met on occasion. LOCKJAW is one of my closest Dawgs in Omega.
I'd love to answer the question but I don't want to start any trouble. [This message has been edited by DoggyStyle82 (edited March 17, 2001).] |
If I had to choose from the selection at my school, I'd pick SAE. They're an awesome group of guys and I always have so much fun when I hang out with them. Some of my best friends are SAEs and they are the coolest guys I've ever met! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
[This message has been edited by ZTAngel (edited March 17, 2001).] |
To be in any fraternity? I would say Kappa Alpha, without a doubt. I have never met a KA I didn't like and I love how the ones I know are true Southern Gentlemen. The South, it's history and legacy is a big deal to KA and I ould love to be a part of it. I love what KA stands for. And Old South is a great benefit! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

I'm going to have to jump on the bandwagon and say I'd be a KA as well. It's got to be a southern thing...

Kevin and Josh:
Thank you!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif I am a Theta http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif Just wondering, Kevin, what is your reason that you would pick Theta? And also Tri-Delt? Just curious http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif You made the right choice, LOL! I would pick Pi Kappa Alpha and Sigma Chi from my school. I love these guys! So many of my best guy friends are from these two orgs. They are gentlemanly, genuine, honest (but not blunt), sweet, intelligent, and lotsa fun!! I can come to any of them and know that they will be there for me and my sisters, 24/7. Another good plus is that I have remained great friends even w/my exes from both Pike and EX http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif What a wonderful topic BTW!! Soror the question gives a lot to think about. Having been a member of our illustrious sisterhood for 7 years also, I've encountered some great Omega men, who have stood besides me as brothers, protectors and friends. I respect the way they carry themselves and what they stand for. You know the saying "stand for something or fall for anything". Anyway, I would definitely have to become part of Omega Psi Phi.

This is a very interesting question. Okay, if you had asked me this question before coming to college, no question it would be Alpha Kappa Alpha. That's all I knew growing up. If I were a girl, family influence would dictate that I become an AKA. However since coming to college, I have grown to become in aw of those women who wear the Krimson and Kream. I still love the Pink and Green too. But, I just love the way that all the Delta's I have encountered handle their business. They never mentioned anything about them having the largest BGLO sisterhood. They just went about the business of Delta. Then after high school, I found out that a lot of my teachers were Delta's. Delta would be the one for me. Also, I'm very fond of their colors http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif
I also meant to say that I have tried to learn as much information about BGLOS since I became a member. That's kinda backwards I guess. I mean I was happy with my choice, but I wanted to learn about what made us different and what made us the same. So after researching my fellow greeks, Delta would most definitely be my choice. I don't anyone has really stated that they would choose this frat or this sorority based on those reasons. So my reason goes deeper than that of those girls are cool or they are down to earth. I love all of my Greek brothers and sisters, especially the DIVINE NINE. But after visiting the Delta Headquarters site and reading "In Search of Sisterhood", there would be no other choice for me. ------------------ KAPPA ALPHA PSI FRATERNITY, INC. if i was a man, i'd want to be a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. The Alphamen that i have encountered in my years have ALWAYS been about business and community service, and that's whats made me pursue SGRho and that would be the same reasoning for wanting to be in a fraternity (if i were a man!)
